My obgyn always tells me to drink so much water before ultrasounds. My last pregnancy I drank the amount they told me and the u/s technician told me my bladder was too full and had me empty it. This time I didnt worry about drinking extra and it was fine.

Good luck ArielMermaid! I think it's totally normal to be nervous for this.

I've never been told to have a full bladder for ultrasounds for this pregnancy or with DD1. My OB and the techs/doctors at my perinatalist's office always have me empty it before. I have to pee constantly now I would definitely pee my pants if I had a full bladder and they were pressing on me for the ultrasound.

I thought it was less about a full bladder and more about making sure that you’re well hydrated to increase/improve amniotic fluid to get better/clearer images. Whenever I’ve done a boutique US they also tell me to drink a lot of water so that there’s a better chance of better photos.

I've been so terrible about keeping up - work has been busy and now I just got slammed but I'm making it my mission to stay more active in here. Its just aaaallll that scrolling to the bottom of the page... Good luck today ArielMermaid. They always tell me to drink a fuck ton of water too but I completely forgot for my A/S and no one said a word. Like I was in the waiting room and remembered I hadn't drank anything extra than normal. No one even cared. But I agree. There is little that is as uncomfortable and terrible and having someone push on your stomach with a full bladder. Plus wtf to go empty half of that. Lady, I don't know what you think I am since I pee when I cough but halfway is not going to happen.

I just placed an ad on care.com for a live out nanny.
I just did the math for daycare vs. au pair care.
The au pair is limited to 45 hours per week - based on our commute etc., we need 56 hours of care a week. That leaves us with a full day without care.. so if we go the au pair route, we'd need a sitter for the 5th day.
Au Pair is $450 a week. We'd need to continue to pay for TKD for the boys, and that averages $69 a week, and then preschool for 9m out of the year for DD1, which is about $26 per week. Total for this is $544, plus $100-$120 for the 'nanny' on Fridays = $664. DH thinks that our utilities will increase by $100 because of another adult being in our home, and that also includes insurance for her to drive one of our cars.
Daycare is $833/wk during school and $918 a week during the summer. This includes preschool, daycare setting for the littles, and before and after during the year WITH TKD, plus summer camp for the older boys.
Nannies are $12-$15 per hour in my area - so ranges from $672 per week to $840 per week during the school year. I would suspect we'd give bonus in the summer time. This also does not include TKD for the boys - so need to figure in another $70 into that figure.
Gah.
I HATE MONEY.

Whenever I’ve done a boutique US they also tell me to drink a lot of water so that there’s a better chance of better photos. I saw this too when I was looking at elective ultrasound places but they said to make sure you were drinking plenty of fluid at least a week out which makes sense to make sure you're hydrated. I just wouldn't think drinking a bunch of water the day of would do much for amniotic fluid.

For these scans we do at the dr office, the equipment use to be less sophisticated, so they wanted a full bladder to push the baby up so they could be seen better. This changed sometime between 2008 (first term pg) and 2011 (second term pg). I didn't need a full bladder with my second/third/fourth. The equipment has gotten WAY better.

So I got my first awkward comment a few minutes ago. One of the ladies that works in another wing realized I was pregnant as we passed on the stairs to the bathroom, we chatted a bit since she was surprised and talked about the normal stuff "how far along are you", "do you know what you're having", etc. Then, as we were parting, she says, "Well, you hide it well."
Wut. Like...thanks????????????????? I GUES????????????????????????????????????????????

We live in a small rural area so maybe it's because the equipment isn't as good as where you guys are? She only needed my bladder full for a couple things, one being my cervix, then she let me pee!! She was an angel.

They spent FOREVER trying to get a profile pic. Other than that the big news is IT'S A GIRL!
I'm shocked.

Rama, I'd be pretty happy if someone told me I hide it well. In my head that's the opposite of "WAIT WHAT? YOU'RE NOT DUE UNTIL MARCH?!?!?!" Which I got for the last 5 months of my first pregnancy, LOL ArielMermaid, congrats! ::clears space on the team girl bench::

My awkward comment of the week was also from a coworker. She was like "oh you look great. You still have ankles". Which, I'll take, because its a compliment but still it hadn't occurred to me that anyone was looking at my ankles.

I've been reading but not commenting the last couple days. I had two nephews born in the last 48 hours!! 😊😄 I am laughing at their names combined with our top name. It sounds like a trio of pep boys or something Idk lol The moms are my BFFs and we hang out all the time so they'll definitely be together a lot. Za.ne, Linc.oln, and ours will pry be Sebas.tian

Rama , I'd be pretty happy if someone told me I hide it well. In my head that's the opposite of "WAIT WHAT? YOU'RE NOT DUE UNTIL MARCH?!?!?!" Which I got for the last 5 months of my first pregnancy, LOL I'm about 85% sure I "hide it well" only because she didn't know. I sit behind a desk all day, most people don't get the chance to see my bump, which is absolutely not "hidden" at all. My husband and SIL have said that I've looked noticeably pregnant for at least two months now. She's also, as far as I can tell, kind of one of those office gossip types, so I think she was just taken aback that I'd get so far without her knowing. Just not a fanfare type, lady. You have had plenty of chances to see me not just with my multiple runs to the bathroom, but when I've taken stuff directly do you. Just pay attention!

I meant to share this yesterday, but I LOVE the clothes from Free To Be Kids www.freetobekids.com . Their mission is to "battle negativity and gender cliches in children's clothing with positive messages and uplifting designs." They have anti-stereotype clothes for boys and girls - this is one of my favorites: It seemed like this would be right up a lot of our BMB's alley!

Congrats ArielMermaid!! So I totally lied about sending back all of my StitchFix stuff. I tried it all on and I actually love it all. Bye bye money. I have been spending so much lately. Ugh. Have I complained about ThirdLove here? I ordered a bra from them prepregnancy and loved it. I got it super quickly. I finally sucked it up and bought one for my pregnancy boobs on 11/14... It still hasn't even shipped!! I'm so annoyed. The last email I got said it's packed but they have no idea when it will actually ship. Wtf??

Rama they switched distribution centers and are experiencing delays due to that. Why would you choose then to have a huge sale then??

Two of my nieces(who are very outnumbered by boy cousins) are sure to be Booing another boy from us. Hopefully this will shut them up lol

katietopaz I've never heard of that company before, but they have some pretty cute clothes. I don't usually like kids clothes with words on them because the Daddy's Princess, Moms Sports Champion, etc just annoy me.

I guess it was nap time in the Auri house today. I took DD to the zoo and she fell asleep in the car on the way home. DH got home from work and started to play a xbox game and I fell asleep. I woke up at 5:30, and DH had fallen asleep on the couch next to me and DD was still sleeping. I guess it's going to be a late bedtime for her tonight.
