What do you all do for your cleaning ladies? Money or gift? Mine comes 1 more time before Christmas and then is having surgery and will be out for an unknown amount of time. So I’m thinking $$. Since she’s going to be out of work for a while. But I don’t know how much to do. She’s been with us for 6ish years. And she’s amazing and cheap. We pay $30 every 2 weeks. She stays 3 hours each time...so $10/hour. Should I do like $60 (equivalent of 2 visits). Or is that not enough?

I'm at a loss for a main gift for Cass this year. I'm getting Maddie a Y-scooter. I know Cass will appreciate anything but I'm thinking since Maddie's gift will be large in size I should try to find a similar sized package because in a kid's mind they don't understand price but think same size = same value of gift. But I don't want to buy large crap that will just take up space for no reason. I don't even know what all I have for them since I've had some things put back for months. I need to bring it all out and see. I'm going to look into horse riding lessons because one equestrian center near us had a 1 time class deal. They already got a gift early last night because Cass found their new pajamas.

B is getting a bike so we felt like we had to have something 'large' for C (more for B's benefit than hers, really). Hmm...any outdoor toys you could use? Basketball hoop, for ex? Play-tent? I saw these on a blog (below) today and can imagine my kids having so much fun with them. www.amazon.com/Gonge-G-2121-HILLTOPS/dp/B0027WQV5M/ref=sr_1_1?ascsubtag=a05fa95c-da29-11e7-a86d-6d5e72e02194&ie=UTF8&keywords=gonge+hilltop&qid=1511888220&sr=8-1&tag=rewardstyle-20It's hard enough buying 'big' items for C b/c we already have so much from B. I imagine it's 10x worse when the kids are the same sex. Also, I just mentioned this blog in N16, but DoSayGive does fantastic gift guides for all ages. I borrowed several of her ideas this year.

I need opinions on boy toys for my 3 nephews ages 8, 6, and 3.5. The oldest isn't into toys, really. Mostly sports, but also likes games on the ipad. 6 yo is pretty easy to shop for so I was thinking of getting them both different versions of this Perplexus puzzle: www.fatbraintoys.com/toy_companies/toysmith/perplexus_epic.cfm 3.5 yo... I have no idea what he likes to play with because he is obsessed with N and does whatever she tells him to do when they play together. lol. 8yo is his brother so they have tons of toys that never get played with, so I was thinking this would be something different.. www.fatbraintoys.com/toy_companies/international_playthings/counting_pogo_jumper.cfm#customer-reviews Thoughts? I think I'm overthinking it, but both families have 4 kids so they have a TON of toys. So I'm thinking something simple like these without lots of pieces would be good.

slenle I got that ball maze a couple years ago for my nephew when he was that age and he loves it and still uses it. I also got him The Big Book of Why by National Geographic and he loves it. I'm meh on the pogo stick thing. We love the stomp rocket over here though.

I know we've talked about teacher gifts, but I need some input. So, since both kids are at daycare, I'm just going to get every teacher there something. H spends time in 2 rooms, N is in the preschool room, and one of the 2 infant room teachers is our babysitter so it just makes sense to include all 12 teachers/assistant/floaters.
I was thinking of getting everyone a small ($5) gift card to the coffee shop with a little treat bag. I would also get each of the lead teachers a bigger Target gift card.
Is it okay to give some teachers bigger gifts than others? I might be over thinking this. I know I did this last year but just want to check.

M has a main teacher and then in the afternoon they rotate people in there. Her main teacher always gets a bigger gift than the floaters.

I think that's totally fine and I bet the assistants/floaters will especially appreciate it since I bet they don't often get gifts.

slenle, I’m also doing the same thing. Main teachers get a bigger gc. Some of the stellar floaters and even the one awesome receptionist I like, will get a smaller gc. Last year I also gave a cookie tray for them to put in the staff lounge. I’ll prolly do that again.

slenle We have the same set up at our DCP and was going back and forth on what to get, I hated the idea of getting the home room teacher a bigger gift than the floaters. So I decided to buy lunch for everyone. We’re ordering pizza, drinks and dessert to be delivered at lunchtime on Monday.

Any ideas on what I can get housekeeping services at work? I used to see them at the end of the day and there were 2 middle-aged men. Their shift change a long time ago and I never see them anymore so I'm not certain how many, age, sex, etc. But they clean my office everyday and I thought I could leave a little something in my office with a note but I don't know what. I don't want to do candy.

Pretty generic, and even if they don't drink coffee, they can get donuts/pastries, etc or they can register them. Edit - regift, not register

What should I get my newly divorced brother who is into hiking and history? A cleaning service? If he is in a new living space maybe something for the house. All hiking ideas I have involve cold winter weather.

I don't want to do candy. Check with their company/boss. Our old cleaning team (outside company) wasn't allowed to take anything, even candy from a please take some bowl. It sucked because now that it's a different group (within the company) they don't do as good of a job.
