MH doesn't usually take S to her appts. It is usually me. But like jewels, and probably a few more on here, I tend to be a bit controlling on that stuff. I NEED to be involved. And I get anxiety if I am not. I know, I'm a little crazy cakes over here. I need to let it go sometimes...and I AM getting better about it. It's a process. Lol. But one of the few times I did not go was THE WORST! It was when S's shunt was failing. She had been sick for several days, MH and I were going through a tough time then and not on the same page very well. Which tends to happen when she gets sick, we argue more, partially because of my inability to let things go and let him do things because of my need to control. So I was trying hard to let him handle things more. He took her to the doctor while I went to work. Then the DR said we needed to go to STL to Childrens ER because she felt pretty certain her shunt was not working. Que my momma anxiety because I was not with them. But I was able to run home and pack our stuff before he got back with S, and when he got there we were all ready to go. If the situation had been reversed, me at dr and him packing our stuff....I probably would not have had necessities like underware, socks, ect.

lfig I think i told you guys when my co-worker showed up to one of my schools unannounced and started asking my staff lots of questions. Well she’s mostly been hands off since our big blowup meeting with our boss and is passive aggressively ignoring all my emails. Whatever.

I'm totally fine with MH being at the doctors with my kids, but if we were dealing with more serious stuff like you do with S I'd want to be there for sure. Also, if MH was in charge of packing a bag for the hospital he would seriously pack like the whole house. You should see what he packs for an afternoon out and about with the kids.

I take the boys to all their appointments except a few. DH never asks any questions and can't remember a thing the Dr. says. Or he remembers it backwards. Or missing key pieces of info. And yes, in S's situation, I would be going to every appointment as well lfig. But I get the control thing. I have to bite my tongue a lot.. DH made the comment once that I treated them like my kids and he was the step dad not allowed to parent. So I've gotten better.

But that's just not feasible for the majority of families. Like that would be a total waste of sick time for both me & MH to take off for the same appt. KWIM?

Yes I do, I just wanted to illustrate that doctors wouldn’t find it weird. ETA plus our ob worked late and sometimes on Saturday and since Dh is off during school holiday we could make it work most time.

DH and I take turns with sick visits, it really depends on who's busier with work. I've never missed a well visit and he's probably been to 80% of them as well. You may remember the pediatrician telling him to that Colin would night train on his own time - that was actually at Chase's 18 month visit. So it's worked out well. To be fair, DH works from home and I only work 20 minutes away, and the pediatrician is about halfway between home and my office, so it couldn't be much more convenient.

Parking is horrendous and it's a good 45 minutes from MH's work, so there really is no need for him to take a few hours off work to see me get weighed, my blood pressure taken and listen to the heartbeat every month. I'd rather him take time off to spend at home with the kids and I! He does come to the first appointment and the anatomy scan.

We’ve got an almost even split as far as who takes the kids to the dr. Just depends on who can fit it into their schedule best. (S/O- C had his 2yo check today and mh is taking him). One thing I like is that we have an online health portal so I can view all the stats and any key items discussed at appts that I did not go to.

Our Ob/hospital was a 5/8 minute bike ride from home and our both our jobs.

I"m on my 2nd cup of coffee. Not a good idea for me. A thought literally just entered and exited my head at the same time and for a split second I thought it was a good idea, but when I went to google I forgot what it was.

And so it begins. Just made 30 pancakes for ds’ class tomorrow, because apparently my kid doesn’t have homework, but I sure do. They divide these sort of tasks at the beginning of the school year. He doesn’t even go to school on Friday yet 😂😂😂.

That was the other reason MH didn't come. Esp with S, he was working 3 hours away during the week, home on the weekends, he would have had to come home a full extra day just to go to an appointment! It just didn't make sense for us. For others, I can see how it makes sense.

Thanks for the feedback! I have done 90% of sick visits and did one of N's well visits alone when my mom fell, but we normally schedule well visits for 8am so we can both go before work. I think we both like to hear her responses and we can ask things that we aren't sure how to manage and she is the decider on things. This time we have both scheduled back to back and they both have shots, so I'll need extra hands..so we are both taking off the whole day (also will be my bday, so we will do something fun in the afternoon).
There's no wrong way to do it and definitely depends on work situations and timing of appointments.

wedding that sucks about Splash Mountain. I found out California Screamin' will be closed when I'll be there, but at least that's just one MH and I like and the kids aren't big enough for yet. I really hope there aren't any other big ones we miss out on. Maddie loved Tower of Terror when she was not quite 4 so I think C will do great since he's a dare devil. The girls will both go on everything they are tall enough for. The only ride that will be a bit of a problem is Indiana Jones -- Maddie is tall enough but Cass isn't. We'll hopefully distract C with Jungle Cruise or something else. Are you also going at the end of JAN? tgrimes what is M looking forward to going on? I'm psyched we'll be there the same time. You guys might want to consider getting Photo Pass. My favorite souvenirs are always the photos so last time I splurged and got it (I think it was around $60). It's just a scan bar for all of the professional photographers around the park (they are at all iconic scenic spots) as well as for the rides that your photo is automatically snapped that covers that cost of downloading everything. To me it was worth it because I got great family photos. Have you guys told the kiddos yet they are going? It's kind of killing me but MH wants to keep it a secret. We might tell them on the way to the airport. They will flip out.

I LOVE the idea of a surprise Disney trip! Im totally overwhelmed by all the planning required though. I bet we will do land before world bc we can fit it into a bigger trip. Or maybe a spring training trip to FL with a day or two of DW.
