tiffbabey I just had my 36 week growth scan and LO's abdominal circumference was larger but they didn't start insulin because my numbers have been good. How are your blood sugar numbers? kbw I am sorry your doctor is so conservative. I can see how that could worry you! My numbers have been pretty high, at least for fasting and breakfast. Sometimes at lunch and dinner too. Fasting has been 100-120, breakfast it depends but sometimes in the 150s.

This weekend is rough for staying on track with the GD diet. I have cheated 3 times today. Ahhh! Am I alone with my cheating??

This weekend is rough for staying on track with the GD diet. I have cheated 3 times today. Ahhh! Am I alone with my cheating?? Nope, not alone. I've not gone completely crazy, but I had a small pancake with brunch (balanced by bacon and a sausage, egg and cheese casserole), a few small cookies and 2 rolls with dinner. Tomorrow we don't have any events so it shouldn't be too bad. Monday will be rough too. I'm trying to think big picture... A bad meal (or two) around a major holiday won't cause harm, it really is all about overall trends.

This weekend is rough for staying on track with the GD diet. I have cheated 3 times today. Ahhh! Am I alone with my cheating?? I have been really good up until tonight. After I took my final glucose reading, I had a slice of pizza. I had a glass of the fairlife chocolate milk and some almonds about 15 minutes after that so I should be fine. Tomorrow I will probably behave all day until dinner. My family makes fish and I don’t eat it. I only eat linguini with clam sauce on Christmas Eve. My dr said have at it and don’t even worry about my number. Christmas Day it should be no problem because my sil is making ham and broccoli for me. I can skip the mashed potatoes.

I definitely echo what aprilz81 said. If you have good numbers most of the time, a bad meal isn’t going to be too awful for you. I rarely go over 100 even after meals so I can afford some pasta tomorrow. Baby is coming Wednesday anyway. 🤷🏻♀️

My higher dose of Glyburide has "fixed" my fasting numbers even without eating a snack at midnight. It also is allowing me to eat more carbs at dinner (I take my meds at that time) with a small treat after I test my levels 2 hours later. I have to be more careful at breakfast and lunch, but being able to eat close to "normal" in the evenings is really helping me mentally.
I know weight isn't everything, but I might be down 1 pound the last few days and I'm sitting at a 15 pound gain (not counting the possible loss) at 34 weeks. GD aside, I was considered obese based on my BMI and I'm only supposed to gain 15-20 pounds based on that number. Part of me is very happy that I should only be up about 20 pounds at delivery and part of me is concerned that now that she should be gaining almost a pound a week that my weight isn't changing. My bump is measuring on track and at my 31 week ultrasound she was in the 75th percentile for weight so I'm probably worrying over nothing...

I think as long as you dr is ok with yours and Faiths weights, I wouldn’t worry. I was probably considered obese based on BMI before baby. I have gained 34lbs in total. Only 4 of those have been in the last two-ish months. Maybe longer. Baby boy is actually measuring small. At my scan on Wednesday he was estimated at 6lbs 12oz with a week to go. That’s considerably smaller than G was at this point. The scan can be off but my dr thinks he is small too.

I got myself a few cheats at the store for Monday. I was able to find cinnamon rolls that are only 22g carbs and I can have 30 for my morning snack. I figure I’m not going to eat the frosting on it and instead put peanut butter in it so that should help. I found giradhelli chocolate squares that are only 6 g each that I got for dessert.

marygracerich it’s interesting you and I had large babies without gd the first time and now we both have gd and our babies are measuring on the small side.

Our elective 3D ultrasound had Faith at closer to 4 pounds and the "official" growth scan at 4 lbs 6 oz so while they aren't the same they aren't that different... I'm kinda looking forward to the next scan at 37 weeks to see how she is measuring. I actually took back a few newborn pants because I thought they looked super small (like premie size) and She probably won't be in NB sizes very long regardless. Anyway, I like to stress over things that I can't control so I guess this is the latest thing...

I have wondered if maybe I developed it later in my pregnancy with G and it just wasn’t diagnosed. I don’t even know if that is possible. She also had trouble getting her sugar to come up when she was born which is common in GD babies.

You have good reason to even if to others it seems unreasonable.

I just needed to AW that I made it through my first family Christmas and turkey dinner and still came up with a great post-supper number so I treated myself to a piece of dessert as my night snack ☺️ Two more big suppers left over the next two days!

While I had more cookies at dinner than I should have, I did not have as many as I normally would have eaten, so I consider that a win. Lunch was carb heavy so I took 2.5 mg of Glyburide to help but I didn't even bother bringing my testing kit with me. I'll take my normal dose later with dinner which will mostly be snacking around with whatever leftovers are in the fridge.

I’ve had a rough day. I had a great fasting and breakfast number so I let myself have 1 small cinnamon roll without frosting (it’s 22 g with frosting so within my limit) and I put peanut butter on it and had a glass of black tea. I pulled a 122 after lunch and dinner as a result (both meals I’ve eaten before with really good results). Technically if I have 2 reads over 120 I’m supposed to call the emergency line. H had to talk me out of it and calm me down. So needless to say I wouldn’t touch the chocolate he bought as a treat.

I wouldn't even blink an eye over a 122, heck that is probably within the margin of error on your testing meter. And even two straight readings around 122 is NOT AN EMERGENCY your doctor is nuts.... And your breakfast numbers should have zero effect on lunch and dinner, that all leaves your system within a few hours....

kbw I'm so sorry your numbers were stressing you out. It's so frustrating to get different results with meals that have been good in the past. I hope today is better.

Today I tested and got a 127 which is unusually high, so I tested again immediately and got a 154 and then again and got a 114. Wtf?!? Has this happened to you? does it come with test droplets to test the “hi” and “lo” numbers? The ones we use at work have to be calibrated every so often and we use those test drops to make sure that it’s within the range it’s supposed to be. Either that or try changing the batteries

Did you recently open a box of new test strips? If you did and changing the batteries in the meter don’t help I’d see if there’s a problem with the strips, I now that can happen sometimes.

So I had an ob visit and endocrinologist visit today. Ob visit went ok, my fluid is slightly elevated and I have to start going two times a week now for ultrasounds and nays. But baby boy was moving great and is currently 4 lbs 1 oz which is perfect for 32 weeks.
The endocronologist appointment was interesting. I met the PA this time instead of the dr. We were discussing my numbers and how I think tea makes me high (the two 122’s from Christmas). She was almost floored that I was concerned about 2 high numbers and she doesn’t count those as really high and that I’d have to have way more high numbers for them to be concerned and even begin discussing insulin. So I’m frustrated because the actual dr says one thing and her pa says something different. The only thing she’s concerned with is if my fluid continues to go up.
H convinced me to have a small piece of chocolate for one of my fasting snacks tonight so fingers crossed that doesn’t throw me for a loop in the morning.

The PA is more in line with what most of our doctors are telling us... And one small piece of chocolate won't affect your fasting number, the fasting number is almost 100% hormone driven unless you are snacking all night, but then it wouldn't be fasting.
