DC- that theory of travel ban was mentioned today on Talk of the Nation (?) on NPR it was put forward as one possibility there also. I don't know if it was a nod to Maddow's article or not- not attributed, but that was the first time I heard of it.

I'm not sure what he's going to accomplish by running his ads in NY and CA. King, Faso, Rohrabacher, Nunes and McCarthy aren't going to do anything, and basically everyone else is a Democrat, lol. But hey, he's fighting the good fight |

I am also not shocked but I feel for those families who have lost loved ones that are now receiving condolences that are less than genuine just so he's less of a liar. |

I just read a bunch of op eds about the decline of the two party system as we know it and I'm not sure it has to be an inherently bad thing. Tribalism is a huge part of our current problem and, as people are choosing their friends, social media follows, and even news sources (or, in some case, "news" sources) based on party affiliation, shifting to a less binary environment could maaaaaaybe work out ok. Of course, we need the RNC and the DNC to fund raise and to promote candidates, and to foster their rise through the political ranks lest we ever have another Reality Tv President.
But just look at what has happened with healthcare--the establishment Republican *insistence* on repealing the ACA no matter the costs and Republican leadership whipping lawmakers into submission despite objection from their constituents is ridiculous. But Rand Paul objected to the bills set forth because he didn't agree with them. So did Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski. Their reasoning was different, but their willingness to stand up to party leaders and do what they think is right saved us from the deplorable mess that would have been AHCA or BCRAP. Senators Manchin and Moore-Capito have also broken away from the Democratic party at times when they felt it was in the best interest of themselves or their constituents.
It is clear that there are many Democrats who aren't happy with the direction of the party right now. People are upset that Senator Feinstein is being challenged from the left, but maybe it's not such a bad thing (I have had my moments with DiFi over the years, but I do have a tremendous amount of respect for her). If we can find a way to hold our leaders accountable to their VOTERS and not to their PARTY, maybe there would be a little bit less of the polarized, divisive Nonsense that has stymied progress.
ETA I'm a dumbass. Capito is a Republican. I had to come back here and correct the record.

I don't believe in holding people responsible for the views/actions of their spouses, but if Price were still at HHS, I would have a lot of questions about this. The two of them make a terrible couple. |
