38 weeks is considered term, 36-37 is late preterm, and everything before that is preterm.

Such a busy day in here! In enjoying my day off. We went for lunch with my FIL and got some groceries. DH did some yard work and I went for a walk.
Now I'm going to turn some of my groceries into freezer meals!

Everyone still sick. Pedi is sure it is a virus. DS1 hasn’t thrown up since 9am, so that is good. DS2 still has no voice. Everyone still running fevers, cranky, and overly sensitive. My throat is starting to feel scratchy and I’m just feeling icky. H is home, so I’m going to nap and pretend this is where to start with ransoms when I wake...you ladies have been busy! I "liked" this for solidarity of having to deal with sick kiddos. I hope your having a good nap.

Thanks for all the clarifications on why 36 weeks is the big goal! That is all way more info than my OB ever gave me. We have some knowledgeable ladies here.

IL absurdity of the day: MIL will not stop stressing how "girls should have long hair" and begging us not to ever cut DD's hair.
Then giving DH a hard time because his hair is a bit longer than she likes.
Then gasping when I talked about cutting my hair to shoulder length before the baby comes.
Someone has too many feelings about everyone else's hair.

Ugh, i'm sorry a few of you are dealing with sick kiddos. It is not fun. DD had an ear infection on Friday but fortunately it passed quickly.

I am making my Canadian Thanksgiving feast tonight! I am very excited. I will have time to prep a bit before picking up DD, and fortunately the work will be pretty minimal.
I am only really making the turkey breasts so that we have some sort of protein. But I would have been fine with just making a bunch of side dishes.
And no, I'm not Canadian in any way, I just really wanted yummy food. I am making the corn casserole that @grumpcat linked, cranberry stuff, IP turkey breasts tenderloins with gravy, stuffing, and peas. Nommmm. I'm already hungry.

I roasted a chicken and made some sweet potatoes to try to curb my Thanksgiving craving today. It was sufficient, for now.
My H has spent the last hour researching different formula. It’s adorable.

Nap turned into laying in bed covered up watching Before the 90 Days and now Zoo or The Zoo on Netflix.

More MIL absurdity: she won't pack up our leftovers until we are "ready to go". We said we are. "Well are you leaving right now?" We tell her we are getting ready, yes. "But are you leaving in the next five minutes? I don't want to take the turkey out of the fridge until you're walking out the door so it doesn't go bad."
I think my tongue is bleeding from all the biting. I cannot. JUST RELAX, OMFG. We will not die if you take the turkey out ten minutes before we leave. XD

Most of the time 36 weeks is when they 99% no longer require a NICU stay. Under 35 is a definite trip to the NICU, 35-36 is case by case, 36 is almost never, and 37 is "early term". Of course, it is dependent on nothing else being wrong, but this is typical. This is why we are all fingers crossing and doing whatever we can to get me to 36 weeks and why most doctors make a big deal out of 36 weeks. This too with the NICU info. NICU was present for DD birth but she never ended up needing it.

Daycare is potty training DS. Today was his first day in underwear. He came home in the same clothes and underwear- so no accidents. I had DH put him in a pull-up for the drive home (DNW accident in car seat). As soon as he got home, he pooped in his pull up without telling us/ any warning. I'm so frustrated because it seems like he does so well at school and terrible at home. He never tells us and we have to guess based upon his facial expressions/ just try to get him to pee every so often. And the twins come in a little over 2 weeks. Cannot deal with him not telling us/accidents plus twins. I tried talking to him about telling us, but I don't think it sunk in.

I've just accepted that ds isn't going to be potty trained until after baby arrives. They work with him at school but he has to wear a pull up aka gateway diaper. He fights us to sit on the potty and then will sit but never pee. Oh and will hold his pee for up to 5 hours. Can you put a thin puppy pad in his carseat and not do the pull-up? He ideally does need to be communicating with you, but you may be able to work around it if he will go on his own to the potty. How do they do that at school? Is it going every hour or does he tell them?

bethers, he may regress when the babies arrive. This is normal. He may already be reacting to the change he knows is coming. He will get there when he is ready. I hope for your sake there aren't too many bumps along the way, but all of that sounds very typical to potty training preschoolers!

After a month or two, when things are more settled, I'll give PT a more concerted effort and be more strict about it.

bethers we have the exact opposite problem. He is pretty much accident free on days he stays with my mom but refuses to use the potty at daycare. grumpycat we have also conceded that potty training isn't happening before this baby 😔

misskilljoy that's where I'm at too. I'd love to have it done by his 3rd birthday (in January) so he can move into the next class at school. I wasn't potty trained until I was 3 and I feel like that used to be the norm.

Thanks, @grumpcat and misskilljoy. I think I'm frustrated because I didn't think he was ready for underwear but with DH doing dropoff and pickup, I'm out of the communication loop. The issue with our house is that the bathroom is upstairs, so he has to plan a little more time than at school as well as get on a stool to get onto the potty. Plus, daycare taught him to pee standing up, so he has to stand on a stool to reach out toilet. I expect regression- I guess part of me didn't want to start before the babies. And part of me is mad at myself because I can't race him upstairs as fast as I could without being this pregnant.

Even with a bathroom on the main floor, it's clear across the house from where we usually are, so we have a potty seat nearby. DD is not in any way ready to tell us with lots of advance notice when she really needs to go, especially when she needs to poop. The potty seat has helped immensely.

bethers, since he's in underwear at school, I'd do the same at home. Only use pull-ups for nap and night. That way it's less confusing for him since he may associate pull-ups with diapers. I really tried to get DD PTed before DS arrived, didn't happen, but it ended up being okay.

The second I slap a pull up on him for whatever reason (car ride, attempt a nap, etc), You'd best believe he's going to fill it with some bodily function or another. We leave the potty in our bathroom and then he can just go and use it whenever he needs to. If he poops, he will call out for someone to come wipe his bum. FFMC: Half the time he pees into the tub. No care zone.

DD was the same way, she'd wait until nap time and the pull up, then poop. It lasted a few weeks before she finally got comfortable going in the potty. Every kid is different, but for us, skipping the pull-up as much as possible made the process go much faster.

I had every intention of potty training E this month, she's definitely ready, but I literally cannot get a single weekend without something coming up taking precedent. So it's going to wait now.

Maybe a bit longer and TODAY was the first time she told Me she had to poop and actually went in the toilet. Then 20 minutes later again pooped in her underwear. 🙄 Poop is hard. For my kids at least. For some reason or another, they both wouldn't/couldn't do it when I potty trained. It took much much longer.

Thanks everyone- I think I'm going to have to try to trust him in the underwear. And DH has my questions for daycare, so that's good. Now I'm just wondering if I should cover the couches for ease of cleanup if he has an accident.
And thanks for listening- I'm particularly whiny about this because I wanted to wait longer (post babies) but the daycare does it now. I should just be grateful that they're doing the bulk of the work.

bethers if you really need something, get a cloth diaper to put him on in the car seat or on the furniture. Have YH take him to the potty before getting in the car. Ask daycare how often he is going into the potty. When we started, we set an alarm and every 15 minutes, then 20, then 30, but if he didn’t go during his time, we sent him in in 5 - 10 min depending on how long it had been. DS2 still has issues with poop and knowing before every time. DS3 is interested l, but I’m not pushing until baby is here because I couldn’t take 2 regressing. Edit: csftl.org/car-seat-accidents/

No care zone. I told MH that DD is almost certainly not bothering to tell us when she needs to pee because she has a pull-up on and can just pee and keep playing. She will hold it for hours and can pee on the toilet when we ask her to, but if left to her own devices she'll just pee while going about her day and not care one bit. I figure that one good weekend of being in underwear and having to get changed every time she has an accident will snap her out of that fast since going pee on the toilet is 10000000x faster than getting her underwear and pants changed every time she pees.
