The twins had their 2 month appointment today and did great! They have great head and neck strength during tummy time, are tracking, cooing, and giving lots of social smiles. They also got their shots and were total champs.
D is 22.5in and 11lbs 7.5oz; at birth was 19.25in and 6lbs 12oz
E is 22.5 inches and 9lbs 11.5oz; at birth was 19.25in and 6lbs 1oz
I'm so proud of them!

Wonderful update on the twins happyfeet9! 2 months already. Time flies so fast! I hope they won't notice any effects from their shots 🤞

I noticed a little while ago one of the big online clothing stored here sells Carter's stuff so I went and looked for sleepers but couldn't find any of those fluffy ones booo.

It’s been chilly enough at night & early morning that I’ve been dressing P in cotton sleepers. Her hands get cold but short of wearing mittens, I’m not sure there’s much I can do. I’m saving the fleece sleepers for when it gets REALLY cold, which I’m sure is just around the corner.

Maybe I can bring a bottle of pumped milk when D goes for her shots.

P napped in the K’Tan for almost 3 hours this morning. I got a ton of stuff done but boy did my shoulders and back ache 😖
Home girl certainly loves her sleep 😆

Then again she never wakes up hot or overheated, and she always has cold hands too and sometimes even coldish feet. What do you use to cover the babies or what kind of sleeping sacks do you all use??

It definitely helped calm them down.

So I have a bunch of questions for those who breastfeed (exclusively?).
Do you keep track of how long baby drinks and if so do you limit their time on the boob (how long?) or do you let them nurse till they let go on their own? Is your baby a guzzler or do they leisurely take their time - of the latter do you urge them to continue drinking if they take a break to speed things up so the nursing session won't drag on and on? Do you let baby fall asleep on the boob or do you have a routine/put them in bed while awake?
Does supplementing with a bottle of pumped milk still count as exclusively BFing? If you exclusively does that mean you don't let baby drink on the boob at all or just on occasion. Do you still feed on demand when EP or more or less stick to a schedule (similar to formula feeding schedule)?

muscari can't answer the nursing duration questions, but supplementing with pumped milk still "counts" as exclusively BFing since they are being fed breastmilk. If we were in a situation where we were out of pumped milk, I would try to get the twins to nurse. This happened to us yesterday when we were apple picking - D was still hungry after drinking his pumped bottles so I nursed him for a few minutes which calmed him down. For both E and D, I follow their hunger cues but they do have feeding patterns, like most BF babies. They feed every few hours and cluster feed a bit more at night and during growth spurts.

Thanks happyfeet9. Yeah D does have a pattern of sorts when it comes to feeding more or less. So if I wanted to switch out one or more nursing sessions by a bottle, we wouls simply follow her cues still I guess then? I was wondering whether it made a difference since when she nurses I never really know (or think about) how many oz she may get a session, while I do have to decide on how much to give her in a bottle. KWIM?

KWIM? I find it's pretty easy to recognize cues still - fussiness, rooting when carried, lips and tongue smacking. You could start by giving a smaller bottle - say 1-2 ounces at a time, burping and waiting before feeding again. Repeat until she seems satisfied. That may give you a good indication of how much she'll likely take if you do bring in bottles.

Though sometimes when she is still hungry (shortly) after nursing her cues are a lot less clear and make us wonder sometimes heh. When we do a bottle it usually is after nursing. We havent goven a bottle instead of a nursing session yet so will jist have to see /nods. When we supplement after nursing we give usually give 30-60ml^1-2oz, she doesnt always finish it all but most of the time does so I can imagine maybe a bottle feeding instead of nursing will take some more milk.. will prolly try it out one day when at home so it isnt new and trail and error when I am gone longer and all.

I spent all morning getting the house cleaned up before DS' speech therapist came, and we've been extremely lazy ever since. Baby just wants to nurse and cat nap so that's what we're doing.
I haven't gotten my pump and bottles out yet to clean/sterilize them before I use them. I need to do that soon so I can see if she'll take bottles from DH occasionally. DS wouldn't take bottles so hopefully that goes better this time around.

muscari The only thing I track is how frequently/how long DD nurses. I let her nurse as long as she wants, but she's a fast eater so it's at most 15-20 minutes. I definitely don't limit her time on the boob bc even the comfort sucking can help with supply. We do not have a sleep routine yet (but she's a couple weeks younger than most of the babies on the board).

She will easily nurse for an hour if I let her... which just simply isnt doable eh. I was adviced to continuously tease her to urge her to drink on, and limit her to 15min per side. I try to do that BUT it feels wrong to simply take her off after 15 minutes of she has done her best and is still drinking. So I often let her go longer. Also, i feel she was still peckish if I timed it strictly which made both if us unhappy. I just wish she would be a little faster cause I cant always do the endless nursing, especially not when she also wants to eat every hour orso.

I kept track of time in the very beginning until it was obvious that she was gaining weight and there were no concerns. I always let her dictate when she’s done, even if that means she’s sleep sucking for 30 minutes. She guzzles in the beginning because I have an overactive letdown, then once the stream slows down she goes at an average pace I guess? I let her fall asleep if she wants to. I always thought EBF meant only breast milk and that method (breast vs bottle) didn’t matter, but then people make the distinction of EPing (exclusively pumping) so I’m not sure. I consider my kids EBF even though I work outside the home and have to pump and they therefore get bottles of breast milk at daycare.

Once again we are twinsies, M feeds pretty much identical to what you described 😂 Also have overactive letdown. Does P ever have green poops? I'm still not sure if I'm dealing with foremilk/hindmilk imbalance

jt2378 green poop is typically f/h inbalance. My pedi said to hand express a bit before nursing so LO gets more hindmilk.

I actually read somewhere recently that foremilk/hindmilk imbalance is a myth, but I can’t remember where I saw it. I think I may have had it with DS.

It scares me every time she chokes because sometimes she legit doesn’t breathe for a solid few seconds. I know you’re supposed to unlatch when you let down and give it a minute to slow down, but I find that impossible when your baby turns into the devil when she’s just begun to eat 😒
