Apparently M is the only one still pooping like crazy lol. I mentioned it to pedi but she wasn't concerned since she is gaining so good and can be common in BF babies. Usually around this time it can start to lessen so here's hoping!

king26 don't worry about having taken him to the dr- it's like a car and the mechanic- you take it and suddenly everything is fine lol. I'm so glad he slept better for you. We were stupid and stayed up watching a tv show after N went to bed. Of course I tried the rnp and nope so we put him in the swing in the living room and he was out. So I had to sleep in the living room til he woke up at 1a- I really need to set up the baby monitor. Then we moved to the bedroom. DH has today off so I sent him to bed and he slept til 630. And N was up at 4 again so i BF him then and then got up to pump at 6ish. And DH is complaining about being tired and is half asleep right now while feeding N a bottle 😒 Like dude. You got to sleep from 11:30 til 6am. GTFO with your tiredness 😤 Guys. My supply has tanked over the last few days. I usually get about 5-6 oz per pumping session, now I'm lucky if I get 3oz. I don't understand! I'm so devasted and I asked my LC for help and nothing is working. I need to go get those supplements today, but other than that I think we will have to start formula bc if I'm only pumping out 3 oz total, that's all he's getting, and he just ate 6.5oz from the bottle- that was like 2+ pumping sessions. I can't keep up at this rate! 😔

P poops multiple times a day. She was pooping after every feed for a while there.
We have a wooden rocking chair - it was actually the rocking chair my mom used with me when I was a baby. I like the sentimentality but i'd rather have a glider tbh.

Yesterday was mine and H's wedding anniversary. We went out to dinner while my parents watched the kids. It was the first time P took a bottle so I was a little nervous, but my parents said she took it with no issues and ate the entire 4oz. It was so nice to get out with H - we hadn't been on a date night in forever.

I don't have experience with BF and supplementing but I think this is what makes doing both so hard sometimes. (Are you using formula too or I'm confusing you with someone else lol). Most BF babies hardly ever take more than 5 oz total, not all but most and that is usually months down the road. Their tummies start to expand and they will just keep eating if you are offering more ounces.

addymac - 6.5oz of breast milk in one sitting is a TON. Did he spit up at all after eating? Are you doing paced bottle feeding? It's so easy for them to guzzle a bottle because they don't have to work as hard for it. General rule of thumb is 1oz for every hour - so for example, if it's been 3 hours since the last time they ate, they will eat about 3oz (+ or - an oz). DS was a piggy and even he never ate more than 4oz at a time (he would eat four 3oz or 4oz bottles in a 10ish hour period at daycare).

This was exactly our experience too, never more than 4 oz when MH was home with her. She never took a paci either. So a maximum of 12 oz and I was gone from 8-5:30.

My BFF just left. It was so great to see her! She drove 2.5 hours to see us and only stayed 4 hours but it was great. I haven't seen her in a whike. She brought J a ton of presents too I told hernshe shouldn't have but she said she doesn't have kids and wanted to get us something.
Also, is it normal for baby to sleep an hour or 2, wake up and eat, then go right back to sleep for.an hour or two then repeat? This has not been our experience but has been how J has been rolling so far today and I worry he's sleeping too much ( I'm never happy)

king26 E will sleep like that a couple times during the day. She sleeps pretty good for a newborn at night, so hopefully it won't be an issue for you either.

jexxa and jt2378 that was our experience too. DS took 4 oz 90% of the time. Occasionally he would want an extra oz. I'm totally throw for a loop with this girl who only wants 2ish oz at a time. My freezer stash is all in 4 oz increments because it's what I'm used to from him.

@king25 sounds like a wonderful time with your BFF! Nice! As for how J is sleeping and eating on and off - D has done that and often still does (minus the sleeping lately), anywhere woth 1, 1.5 or 2h in between feeds. I feel you on always worrying about something tho - first I worry about x and wonder whether y would be better. Then she does Y and I worry about that.. rinse and repeat!

addymac, MH does the same thing. I always make sure he gets at least 6 hours of sleep and he constantly complains he's exhausted. It's infuriating. I'm sorry your supply tanked but that's how my supply has been all along, I'm actually lucky to get 3oz so I can tell you all about supplementing if you end up having to do that. I use the More Milk supplement and it has helped a bit but honestly I forget to take it a lot because you're supposed to take it 3x a day and that's a lot.

king26, M definitely does this with sleeping. She has days where she does not sleep at all and days when that is all she does. I wouldn't worry about that.

addymac the GTFO with your tiredness made me LOL so hard. I have been soloing nights since D was 10 days old so MH would have solid nights.. yet he still managed to complain about how tired he was even after sleeping in till 10 or 11. Tbh it would piss me off pretty bad but I never sais anything just rolled my eyes (and my inner voice may sometimes have spoken up in quiet lol). Men!! My right boob gave almost nothing when I pumped thursday, which freaked me out good and made me question BF immediately again. Yesterday D was demanding the boob pretty damn often and tada today my supply seems up again? Maybe you could try BF N a cple times extra or pump extra for a couple days to help your supply go up again? Also it seems to me that some days i just have sucky supply then it goes back to "normal".

addymac I've also been supplementing this whole time so feel free to ask any questiins. We started out barely supplementing but now we give 1 or 2 oz at a time if formula depending in how ling he is on the breast or how much breast milk he gets in a bottke. He was getting around 8 oz of formula a day but the past 4 or 5 days he is up to 13 oz. A day but I know he is fed and gaining weight. I'm glad DH gets up with me at nifht. He usually misses the first time up but gets up the rest. He will feed a bottle if I want to pump or wash bottles if I need him to which helps but he gets a nice chunk of sleep initially which he beeds. I think men just need it more. Thank you for responses to J sleeping. Since he slept awful Thursday night all day Friday my guess is he is catching up on sleep now

We start the bottle off with 4oz and try to stop and burp after every oz. then we wait a few min, change his diaper, try to soothe him, and if he's still showing feeding cues then we add an oz and then repeat. We also are using a preemie slow flow nipple so the milk flow is much slower, to mimick the boob flow and try to prevent him from overeating. Also, he just took five oz and was burped amd was still showing cues so I changed his diaper, then put him on my boob and he has been happily sucking away for 15min! And I haven't pumped since 9- I had a massage at 12 and got home at 2. If he keeps showing feeding cues what am I supposed to do??

I wonder if he just wants to comfort suck rather than eat. Otherwise you can try taking the supplements your LC recommended to boost your supply. Eating oatmeal is supposed to help as well.

We did introduce the pacifier exactly for that reason- to differentiate between comfort sucking and needing to eat bc I was going crazy with his need to comfort suck. And when the paci doesn't soothe him, plus nothing else, I put him on the boob and he's happy as a clam. I think I have a really big fatty 😕

I'm not opposed to it, I'm just sad that my supply seems to have taken a nosedive and I have no idea why. And feeling worried that my baby is such a fatty!!

I do slow flow nipples, paced feeding, and everything in between with D and he still takes 6 ounces a couple of times a day. 3-4 ounces is average, but there is always a distribution. We just happen to have fatties.

J is taking more and more formula. I worry he is over eating maybe. He was so happy and good all day and then woke up last time and is screaming and crying again. I hate this. The only way we got him to calm down was to put him in the Moby where he is sleeping right now

I'm sorry king26 - at least you were able to find a way to calm him? I'm so annoyed. N has been so sleepy all day and it's DHs day to take care of him and he's been a fucking angel. Jut sleep, eat, stay awake for a little bit, fall asleep, repeat. He's currently been asleep since 230pm- almost four hours and I'm so jealous. 😠Like, I'm glad N is getting good rest but I also wish DH would have to get to do a tough day just so he really knows what it's like. I'm a bitch, I know lol.
