king26, I'm sorry for such a rough night. As far as YH, I think things tend to feel worse as far as being able to deal with the crying or fussing so bad MOTN so he will probably be better dealing with him during the day. He has no choice really and you should not have to worry like that. FWIW, MH had no experience with babies with our first and had to be home with her 3 days a week. He did wonderfully and learned quickly. addymac and muscari, please talk with YH's about how your feeling and reaching out for help. Reheating food is no big deal in the scheme of things and this is a temporary stage. Also you both deserve a break when they get home too, taking care of a baby solo all day is exhausting!

I'm so tired. He went to bed at 8 last night and it's now 6. He has slept a 3 hour stretch and 3 one hour stretches. The 1 hour stretchesare exhausting because by The time he falls asleep and I lay him down I get maybe 30 minutes of sleep plus he keeps whimpering in sleep so I'm up putting the paci in his mouth . I've had maybe 4 hours of sleep and 2 hours 45bminutes were from 815-11. I'm exhausted. Plus DH was up with me for the awful 2 hours of screaming but has been sleeping since. I'm pretty sure after this next hour sleep he can get up and do formula with him because I'm over this right now

king26, I'm so sorry it's been such a rough night. I've had a few like that recently and it truly is so exhausting. Definitely just let yh give him some formula so you can get some rest. Also, I was so nervous leaving M with MH because he had zero experience with babies and he was a nervous wreck around her at first. But when I was rehospitalized when she was 5 days old I was forced to leave him alone with her and he really stepped up and did so good. I'm sure yh will be fine too. He's probably just so tired and I know my patience wears thin more easily in the motn.

jt2378, MH is fine with reheating food if we need to but usually it's a time issue because he goes to work right after dinner. It's totally me that wants to put a good meal on the table, he is pretty laid back about it since the baby was born. MH works nights and he works very long hours so I feel bad if he doesn't eat a good meal before he leaves for work. Usually he sleeps right up until dinner time and then has to leave soon after so I have a short window to get dinner done. He also has a job that he needs to be well rested for (he drives all night for work) so he needs to get adequate sleep too. The schedule sucks with a newborn but we're trying to make it work.

addymac glad you feel better! cali, that's awesome that she stayed content. king26, ((hugs)) Im totally there with you. I wish A slept better. And I think MOTN crying is worse than day, so YH should be fine.

Add me to the dinner time mayhem. MH isn't home the weeks he works (7 days on,7 days off) so I just snack mostly or make frozen dinners. The weeks he's off, we tag team baby and food.
I'd probably make a lot of crock pot dinners, so it would be ready in time. Pasta, Mexican, bfast for dinner. Super quick and easy things. Gone are the days of making things from scratch. For now at least.

cali, I understand about YH's job and wanting to have a hot meal, things will definitely get easier around mealtimes as M grows. I promise it's not a shitshow forever 😬

Well I had. Few trial honest company diapers and put one on j. Sat down to feed him and he is soaked up the back and I'm soaked too. We will not be purchasing those .
Also j is 8.5 pounds so we moved up to size 1 diapers because I ran out of newborn and have tons of sizev1 but they seem huge. Anyone else find them to be big? I may have to buy more newborn diapers.

king26, M is about the same weight as J. I just tried a size 1 on her yesterday because we are running low on newborn and have a lot of size 1s and they definitely seemed too big. I ended up ordering more newborns on Amazon.

king26 Right there with you with the bad sleeping. It's demoralizing. Our dinner times are hard too. Dh doesn't know how to cook, so it's on me. I keep making beef stew in the Crock-Pot bc it's super quick (to prep, not cook) and everyone likes it. I'm trying to find other meat Crock-Pot recipes. We also like the Stouffer's family size frozen entrees. It's gotten harder since baby h is now more fussy in the day.

Ugh last night was a bad nights sleep. His reflux is getting worse so I had to hold him up after each feed and every time I tried to put him down in his crib he'd spit up within five min. So we cuddled on the futon in his room all night. I am wiped. He seems to hate his rnp now, which is bizarre to me bc he loved it for the first 3-4weeks! Ugh! And now that I want him to sleep on an incline, he doesn't want to! Baby!!!
Yeah, DH is used to mostly getting reheated meals, bc our schedules were so different and when I work nights I'd make dinner earlier and then he'd get home and reheat, but lately he mentioned not wanting a reheated meal so I wanted to try to do that... failed miserably all week. Well last night he got a freshly made meal at 10pm bc he came home at 9:30 and made it, but after he's been at work for 15hours, I felt awful that he had to stay up and make dinner. Oh well. We will figure it out. I'm not cut out for the SAH life, lol.

Oh I know! I'm on the phone with them right now. Already 40 mins into the phone call and I've been transferred 3 times. 😝 I know most states do not cover fertility treatments, but Nevada does. So it's crazy to me that BC/BS covered the transfer but not the retrieval. The rep on the phone said that'll help with my appeal though.

yeah we ran out of newborn diapers earlier in the week. I switched to size 1s, which are huge. But the newborns were starting to look tight. She doesn't fit right in anything. Newborn clothes are tight, but 0-3 and 3 month are baggy. Eh.

He's starting to fill 0-3 out more, and is fitting in the one size cloth diapers finally.

I'm losing my mind. J won't sleep and when he does it's less than an hour and on one of us. Guys when does this get easier? I had no idea there would be days like this. It's exhausting angle frustrating and those of you with more than one...do you just forget the craziness of these early days???? I can't get J to sleep anywhere today and I hate the war piercing scream. I think something is wrong.

Yeah the hard times are so damn hard but you keep going because you have to. I don't want to just paint a pretty picture and say it changes like a switch because some babies are just harder than others and have a fussy disposition. I'm not saying that is J but my first had colic and I remember feeling so hopeless and frustrated. Big hugs being a mother has been the hardest thing I have ever done but also the most rewarding. It will get easier I promise, there is just no way to predict when. Have you reached out to your dr about how your feeling?

king26 do you have a baby carrier or wrap to put him in? Sometimes when N is super fussy and we put him in the carrier and go for a walk he chills the fuck out. Idk if you've tried that?

Babies get easier (I think) a few months in once they are more scheduled/predictable and you have an idea of what works and doesn't for them. Until then it's all trial and error unfortunately. The second one feels easier so far, but I think a lot of that is that I don't have time to analyze her/second guess myself as much. It's just go, go, go 24/7. If I manage to keep everyone fed/relatively happy and get a shower every other day I feel like I'm doing good. And that's a sad sad reality to be living. But it's a phase that'll eventually change.

So true pennylane, I'm much more relaxed this go around because there is no choice but to be. I also think going through it once before you can think back like "oh shit I remember this, it sucks but will pass"

jt2378 Exactly this!!-- this sucks but it will pass. For me, the second time I'm much less worried about being on a strict routine so young. With DS1, I would time all his naps and stress if they weren't as long as I thought they should be. I also worried about holding DS1 too much and "spoiling" him. With this one, bring on the snuggles!

My insurance is going to hate me. I took J to the doctors. They checked eve egg thing out and said he sounds like he has mild reflux and mild colick so that's fun. Hopefully both really are mild and won't cause us a ton of distress. Of course I tell the doctor he eat like 2 sips, screams, eats 2 sips, screams, etc. Won't sleep, blah blah blah. We get there and he's sound asleep from the car ride and he eats 2 damn oz. While we are with the doctor. The doctor even fed him. I felt like an add but this doctor was so freaking nice and really looked him over
