You can also look into the different sports programs to see if they do parties. I just got an email from one of the little soccer programs about their party packages.

Tour, sit on a truck, safety lesson, and then access to party room. Also includes goodie bags. I assume going down the firepole is not part of it? That's all C would want to do. I would go for the kids gym. I'd like to watch the fireman go down the fire pole...

What exactly would a fire station party consist of? Tour, sit on a truck, safety lesson, and then access to party room. Also includes goodie bags. personally that is more than I'd want to spend for that. I'd probably go for one of the other options.

So I've been slightly avoiding this thread because I feel like S is getting the shaft when it comes to Birthday parties.
1. We have no family here. Which makes me sad. 2. She doesn't have close "friends" yet. She still plays mostly by herself a lot. Which makes me sad. 3. She's in the 0-2 (baby) room at school so the kids aren't even her age. Which makes me sad. 4. It's a deer season birthday which is like a freaking national holiday here (schools close for a whole week for it, ridiculous) so everyone is busy, including MH who has to work extra crazy hours during it for poaching patrols. Which makes me sad.
BUT...I just bought tickets for Peppa Pig Live for 3 days after her birthday. My sister and her girls are coming as well as my mom, aunt, cousin, and her 3 year old. Yay!!! I'm super excited and hope S loves it! She loves Peppa so I feel pretty good about it.

And I feel you on deer season. My dad said that is how he knew I was a girl, my mom went into labor on opening day. I ruined his whole season *eye roll*

For some reason I can only write above the box, weird. I'm sorry @ifig. I understand where you're coming from to a degree. My brother is disabled so typical things were not typical for him when we were growing up. Also Cass is very shy. I don't know what's reality, but she tells me no one wants to play with her at school. I'm guessing she's never initiated playing with others due to her introversion and shyness. As I mentioned earlier there's only 1 mutual friend the girls have where we know the parents and can call them up for play dates. My family is 3 hours away so we drive there so they can have a party with their 2 cousins and one of them is much older. I hope when they're further along in elementary school it'll be easier to make connections for them to have a social network.
I think the Peppa Live show would be an awesome way to celebrate. More of the usual friend parties can always come later. That's why we're probably just inviting one kid.

Lol peachsmama. It was opening day when I had S 2 days before my scheduled c/s. MH was going to hunt that morning, then work his last scheduled shift because he was taking time off with me and S, then head that night to join me in STL for the upcoming c/S. But my water broke that a.m., he was unreachable in the woods, and I was freaking out he wasn't there. Luckily I got a hold of a friend who went and found him in the woods. He then made record time to STL and was there in time for the birth. A memorable opening day for sure.

I'm having a bit of a conflict because I decided the park isn't going to be a great idea due to possible weather issues.
There's an indoor play place we go to that would be great and reasonably priced, but they automatically serve pizza as part of the package.
Pete thinks this is NBD because we aren't going out of our way to order pizza but I don't really feel good about it.
Not sure what to do just yet.

I am doing it at a play place here and they offer pizza but when I called to ask questions, they said I could cancel the pizza and bring in something else if I wanted.

Or cheeseless veggie pizzas?

I know how people are, and offering a pizza without cheese will earn you almost the same reaction as if you'd served them roadkill or something. They are very limited on the types of foods they let us bring in from outside. If we go that route, I'd rather bring our own food that isn't so "obviously vegan" as pizza with no cheese, KWIM? Like I prefer to just have pretty run of the mill food that is not reminding people it's vegan. IDK if I'm explaining it well but chrisy01 was at our last pastry so she gets it. We had Uncrustables, chips, a fruit tray, veggie sushi, samosas, pasta salad, fruit leather, candy, etc. Stuff that is "accidentally" vegan but most people probably wouldn't even notice to look around and go "oh, there's no meat/eggs/cheese in anything."

cagoldi I understand. I'm just really annoyed with people that have this attitude. I mean, you're invited to a party, you're getting free food. If you don't like it, eat something else at home. Complain to your H, or your friend, but never under what any circumstance complain about the food to the host, that's just rude.

Thats what I did for Jack's party but meatless. And it's my plan for the future. Instead of making something with meat to appease people, just making really yummy veggie food and they can deal.

lfig that sounds perfect! Sounds honestly more fun for everyone involved. Enjoy!! cagoldi I'd just go with the pizza or say no pizza and bring hummus and snacks. I just checked this fancy place that has a crazy menu: badlandsplayspace.com/badlands-birthdays/ I was not surprised to see GF and vegan options..

lfig something special for her day will be sufficient, don't feel bad! Also, I was thinking about seeing Peppa too Eta sorry that wasn't a well thought out response. You are feeling sad, not bad. I'm sorry you feel that way and that this is your reality and it shouldn't be diminished. Up until the last few months E wouldn't have cared about a party. Last year we went on a special "birthday adventure " hike and took family photos with a tripod then after nap we went to hibachi. I'm sure you will plan a great family bday. I wish I could do just family but there aren't any around for us. There will come a day soon when S is in a place with her peers and they will see a friendly girl just like we do.
