Reese she decided to be slime this year. She did realize that she is not getting a prepackaged halloween costume, and she is perfectly okay with that. How does one become slime?! At target she found a grey tutu with a plastic/clear green overlay (so that is the slime)--then she wants neon green pants, socks, shirt and gloves. She plans on painting her face green. She wants to attach green yarn or string to the gloves to make it look like "slime" is dripping off of her.

I have a weird question... for the teal bucket - do you leave it on your porch for those with allergies or do you ask the kids when they come up if they have allergies??

I'm making the older one a firefighter (he has an awesome outfit that was a gift) and the baby a Dalmatian. I can't wait. I think MH will be able to make the wagon into a fire truck, he's crafty like that. We did that last year. It was super cute! I've had this picked out since I was pregnant with DS2 🙈 We were given a Firefighter outfit made to look like MH's as a baby shower and he just now fits into it. I'm so excited. The fat baby is going to make an adorable puppy.

We will be at my parent's house out of state so it should be fun. It will be their first Halloween to see her. I think my MIL also wants to come and possibly a couple friends of ours so it will be a ton of adults for one 2.5yo who will probably make it a block. Last year she made it to 3 houses. My parents have a ton of decorations so I think DD will love it. And their neighborhood gets tons of kids. Ours gets probably 50ish. We will probably do black bean nachos for dinner. That was always my mom's go to growing up. Black beans and orange cheese so themed but kinda junk food-y and fast.
I just got DD a costume today at a consignment sale. I was torn between a butterfly and a cupcake. I ended up picking the butterfly and now I regret it. I might get a cupcake one. I'm ridiculous.

2 year old will be a dinosaur and 6 month old a pumpkin I think.
It's our first year ToT with our 2 year old and I want both me and H to be able to go with him. When he was a newborn, we went to a friends house for Halloween and left a bowl out and not only was all the candy gone, but the bowl was too. So...I'm thinking disposable bowl of candy and keeping our ToT short so that we are home in time to hopefully still give out candy. I feel like if we are taking, we should be contributing, so I want to do something but also don't want to miss out on a first with DS.

We're family costuming this year at the request of the kid. He'll be R2D2, I'll be Han Solo, and the dog named Chewie will be Chewie.
We typically go to my sister's neighborhood (about a mile away) as it has more kids and is more walk friendly for trick or treating. Based on our current parenting schedule (and yes, I looked years into the future because I'm that mom) this is the last year I'll have DS for halloween until he's 9 or 10 so we're living it up this year. things could change of course, but in case they don't I'm all in.
Our community doesn't tend to do a lot of kid friendly things the weekend before halloween so this is the year. That said, we live near the halloweentown town so we'll probably hit that up starting this year and all future years that I don't get the big day.
I'm a bit of a halloween nerd.

I have a weird question... for the teal bucket - do you leave it on your porch for those with allergies or do you ask the kids when they come up if they have allergies?? We leave it on the porch beside the teal pumpkin - but again, we're not usually home for trick or treaters. For the time period we are home, we just keep the teal pumpkin out so they know we have non-food treats. I expect kids with allergies to recognize and ask for the non-food items, and I don't ask them.

The baby is going to be a monkey. I really wanted to make him an Oh Henry Bar, but yeah I don't have time to make that. 4yo is going as The Incredible Hulk. Clearly we do not theme lol. I'll put on a witch's hat or something like that, but DH (if he is home) will wear a full costume of some sort.
We get around 50 kids. We'll go tona dozen or so houses, however long until the 4 year old gets tired.

We get zero trick or treaters, but we still decorate.

DS (3) told me today that he wants to be a pirate. I'm crossing my fingers that doesn't change eleventy times because I think I could put together a pirate costume fairly easily.
I've worked evenings for most of the time we've lived in our current place, so I have no idea whether we get a lot of TOTers. MH will probably take DS out and if he has a vehicle by then, they'll probably visit me at work too.

DS wants to be a spooky ghost that glows in the dark. I'm excited because this will be the one costume I can make. I might make one for me that matches.

No plans to do a family costume but this is the first year she's told us what she wants to dress up as and the first year we'll take her ToT. Right now she's saying princess but I'm waiting a bit to buy something.
No one comes to my house so it's easier to go out that night.

We did a little Halloween party here last year and made Halloween themed food. It was all from Pinterest. Little reese cups with pretzel sticks in them to look like brooms, pizza cut into thin long slices with triangle pepperoni on the ends to look like fingers, hot dogs wrapped in crescent rolls to look like mummies and apple slices with peanut butter and mini marshmallows to look like teeth. The kids LOVED it.

not sure if this has been posted but Target has an online-only deal right now, a $10 GC if you spend $50 on Halloween costumes, decor and lighting.
I'm trying sooooooo hard not to buy more decorations. I wanted that spooky phone last year and didn't buy it...this might be the year...

There are so many great ideas in here!
DS is going to be Curious George, and I haven't decided what DD is going to be. We go to Trunk or Trear since we live on a country road and get zero trick or treaters so I'll be wearing her. Maybe I'll put her in yellow and she can be a banana

I think DD2 is gonna be Boo from monsters inc. DD1 keeps insisting she wants to be Elsa but she wants to wear a ratty old dress up dress she has.

DD1 keeps saying she's going to be a peacock. I *think* I can make something, but this is stretching my creative powers.
DD2 will be a pumpkin because that is what you do with roly poly babies (and because DD1 in total 2 yo sass said no to the strawberry costume)

Not sure what DD wants to be. She keeps saying she doesn't like costumes. However, she loves dress up.
We don't really get trick or treaters so we will probably go to my parents neighborhood.

I just buy candy that fits in the categories for no allergies. It really isn't that hard. I usually post a list but it's in a TCF and I don't feel like looking for it.

DS is going to be a hotdog for Halloween. He's 3 and keeps asking if it's Halloween every morning.
We go all out for decorating outside. It's a Ghostbuster theme with lots of ghosts, skeletons, and zombies in the mix too. DH has a giant Staypuft, moving Slimer, and singing pumpkins, among other decorations. We're kinda nuts.

I finally came in for some inspiration and man, some of you are good!
I'd love to do a family theme. Maybe I'll try to talk. H into something.
We tend to keep decorations moderate. TOT in our neighborhood is a bit unusual. It's a smaller new build and one of the guys here hooks a legit haywagon to his four wheeler and totes all the kids around the neighborhood by street. So we get swarmed for about five minutes then that's it. Then we'll jump on the wagon and tag along.
Last year DD was a mouse and I was an elephant. H suggested the lazy route of making her a giarrafe since she owns a hoodie that makes her look like one already. We'd just need to color spots on yellow leggings. It's also cover our bases on weather since Halloween is pretty cold around here. I'll be a fucking 37w pregnant mess so I have no clue what to do with myself. I was super pregnant for Halloween last time too and was going to be a hot air balloon and never pulled the trigger. Maybe I'll do that finally.

DS2 has pretty long hair. He's 17 months and hates anything on his head... I'm thinking about making him a troll if I can get his hair to stand up with enough gel. And either make him a onesie with a painted on jewel belly button or shirtless and paint it on him. He likes to whip out his peen a lot so I'm thinking a onesie would be a good idea even though it'll probably be white 🤣

DS2 now wants to be a ghost. I think I will make it as I haven't found any packaged costumes or Etsy costumes I like. DS1 has switched to vampire. Good thing I didn't order anything yet.

Can you guys settle a fight between me and MH? Are these costumes cute or dumb? DD1, who is 3, is Dory (standard Dory costume). DD2, who just turned 1, is a scuba diver like the below picture

flojo, super cute. And I don't know if your one year old would get it, but my 2 year old is OBSESSED with scuba divers, so he would think it was the coolest costume ever.
