What are your kids going as this year? Do you dress up too? Do you have themes? How do you decorate? Do you get a lot of trick or treaters? What goodies do you give out? Tell me all the things. It's the most spookiest time of the year!

Our neighborhood with good weather and if it's a weekend we'll get 250+ kids, but if it's a rainy Monday night we will only get 70ish. I try and get the largest selection of candy as I can giving kids more options especially if they have allergies.
Our 4 year old wants to be a fairy princess, after wanting to be spiderman, poppy or santa claus. I'm waiting a week or two before getting the costume in case she changes her mind again. i don't know what I'll get my 21 month old, something warm.

I keep going back and forth on what I want the kids to be for Halloween. I go between a ghostbuster for the 2 year old because he's obsessed and the stay puft marshmallow man for the 8 month old because that would be the cutest thing ever. Orrrrr do I have the 2 year old be Thomas the train and the 8 month old be the caboose? Decisions decisions.
My H goes all out on decorating the outside of the house. He does a full blown theme every year and dresses up to scare everyone on Halloween. This year he keeps talking about dressing up as a clown and I just feel like isn't the greatest idea and keep telling him no.
We get a shit ton of trick or treaters. I usually start buying candy at the end of September through Halloween so that I'm not spending all my monies at one time.

We get 200+ kids. I have to work this year so H will have to just take the kids and not hand out until he gets back. Don't have costumes ready yet. We do a few decorations plus pumpkins but aren't big on it. We have set hours in our town so it only gets dark in the last 30min of ToT.

Ds1 wants to be Link from the new Zelda game. He was Li k before but it was the old green Link not new blue Link. Ds2 says he wants to be a zombie but I think thats too scary for a 4 year old...I'm working on him being Batman.
I go all out for decor inside and out because ds2 is autistic and Halloween is his favorite holiday. He gets such joy from it. He seriously watches Halloween movies all year long.
Our neighborhood is awesome for Halloween. There are tons and tons of Trick or Treaters and most every house is lit up and decorated. Its like it ised to be when I was a kid. Or old neighborhood was dead and it was so sad, we got lucky when we moved last year.
I usually do a special spooky dinner on Halloween. Pinterest is the best for ideas. Not sure what I will do this year.

I think DD is going to be Tinkerbell or a cat this year. I have not decided yet. We usually go to my moms for Halloween, but it's a Tuesday and DD has school Monday and Wednesday so she will either just pass out candy with me or MH might take her trick or treating just to the houses on our street.

We all dress up. Right now the 5 year old (he'll be 6 before Halloween) picks the "themes" because he cares the most. We'll see if this continues next year when the 2 year old actually cares. The 5 year old and DH are going to be vampires (the Dracula kind). I asked the 2 year old if he wanted to be a vampire and he wants to be a vampire hunter. So I'll do that with him.
We turn the front yard into a graveyard - it gets a little bigger every year. We have plywood gravestones we made a couple years ago, some skeletons, ghosts, spiders, and a fog machine.
We don't get a ton of trick or treaters - enough where we're not home for most of them. We leave a bowl of candy out and a bowl of non-food (rubber spiders, vampire teeth) while we go. The neighbors have never seen anyone dump the bowl, mostly because we usually only get kids with parents - no older kids in our neighborhood (which is mostly elderly people anyway).

My D initially wanted to be Darth Vader but has since switched to Wonder Woman. I found a tutorial to make a pretty easy costume.
I have fall decor out (mums and Jack o lanterns) but nothing else. My kid would love to have all the plastic skeletons they have out at Joann's fabric right now.

DS wants to be a bear, for some reason. Possibly so he can growl at people. So we'll see, he's 4 and this is the first year he's really getting to decide.
I just want him (and to some extent, H, since he's heavily invested) to pick something, because I'd planned to theme my pumpkins around his costume. Otherwise, I think I'm going to do Kwazi + sea creature this year.

I made a cute pompom garland! Halloween town will be put out in October. Not dressing up this year because no party (my sister usually throws one, but she is building a house and has no time for frivolity this year). DS1 wants to be an alligator. I think DS2 will be a wizard I am scoping out cute family Halloween pjs. Had my eye on some Disney ones but they already sold out of the women's. I think I will take kids TOTing this year while DH sets up a fire pit and gives out candy and beer.

I have no idea what my 3yo should go as this year. He loves the minions and zoo animals.
Where do you all buy your costumes? I can never seem to find ones I really love.

In case you didn't mean kids, when I dress up I don't do bag costumes. I'm usually something that I cobble together from various places. Thank you for starting this, allisong! I wanted to start this weeks ago (because I'm a Halloween nerd) but have been sitting on my hands.

DD is going to be a fire fighter. She talked about being Elena using a dress my mom got her this summer, but then we saw the costumes at Costco. She bypassed the princesses and shimmer and shine and wanted the fire fighter one. I didn't get it, because I figured it was just something she wanted. Well, in the car, she was teary eyed and when I asked her what was wrong, she said "What if they sell all the fire fighter outfits and I don't get one for Halloween"? My heart broke. H stopped after work the next day and surprised her with it.
I love decorating the house for Halloween. I've already started with my fall decorations! We don't get many trick or treaters. Our houses are on bigger lots=more walking so I think a lot of kids go other places. So I get a variety of candy and tell the kids to pick a few pieces. Last year, there was a bowl on a neighbors stoop that said "Take as much as you want". LAst year, we had my parents and Inlaws at our house. I put pulled pork in the crockpot so we ate dinner then took DD out while they talked and gave out the candy. I think they all enjoyed themselves because my mom asked about this year.

We're going as witches and wizards (DS' request) and I'm half done with getting our costumes together.
We don't get many trick or treaters but my mom has an annual Halloween party that is amazing.
BRB while I dig up some pix from last year. Even my dog dresses up. PDQ Poof

I need to find new friends who are into those

My kids are currently terrified of all things Halloween. Dd had a death grip on my hand yesterday all through Wal-Mart, and they won't stop talking about the ghost they saw in the store "with no eyes".
They still want to dress up, though. They talked about either being Moana and Maui, Minnie and Mickey, or Marshall and Skye. Who knows what they will end up deciding.
I think our church is doing something on Halloween, so hopefully we won't see too many scary costumes.

My 4 year old wants to be a big version of his favorite stuffed animal. H had better get sewing. But I know he'll be up late sewing the week of Halloween because he's H.
Ds1 keeps changing his mind. I think it's ghost right now.
We don't get any trick or treaters but I leave a bucket of candy out just in case.
No decor aside from pumpkins.
We go into town and do the blocks around the elementary school. People get really into it and it's pretty fun.

I loooooove Halloween. I have my decorations I just haven't put them up yet. As far as costumes go, we haven't decided yet. Target always has 1 day in either September or October where all kids costumes are 40% off. I will usually go there and grab something that day. She is only 2 and probably won't have a preference yet. I have a Princess Leia costume that will hopefully fit over my belly. If not I have a maternity Halloween shirt that I can wear. I have no idea what trick or treating is like in this neighborhood because we just moved here.
