lol I have actually read the book more than once. I actually just call him Frankie. That's his name. He is my favorite decoration so far this year. I'm very impressed! What material is he? He is ceramic. I bought him in michaels and painted him. I wanted him last year but the sold out before I could buy him.

Speaking of which, anyone know where would be the easiest place to find a striped shirt similar to his? I refuse to pay what they want on Etsy. If you can't find one, you could find a white shirt and use fabric paint. For DS's Calvin and Hobbes costume I just got a red shirt and a black paint pen and DIY'd it. For Chucky, I'd probably skip all the areas covered by the overalls and call it good. Save

I love fall but I'm a Halloween Scrooge. We get a moderate number of kids but I also signed up to do the trunk or treat for the kids day care, not sure what I was thinking. I'm planning to get fun non-candy things and maybe some allergy friendly candy.
DS (4) wants to be a scary ghost or a chicken nugget. I guess my dreams of him and DD having adorable sibling costumes are shattered.
I almost had DS convinced to be a big bad wolf and DD little red riding hood but he's back on the scary ghost idea.

The only thing I have prepared is the theme for my countdown to Halloween chalkboard. I'm so behind. Last year, I started my costume list on Amazon in July.

I have no idea what my 3yo should go as this year. He loves the minions and zoo animals. Where do you all buy your costumes? I can never seem to find ones I really love. Amazon/Zulily/Costco I made the little guy an Ono costume last year (Lion Guard) because I couldn't find anything. Well, I put him in a onesie and leggings and made him wings. This year I'm going to "make" the vampire hunter costume because I can't find anything. But it will probably be white shirt, brown pants, and I'll make some bandoliers with foam stakes.

I have no idea what my 3yo should go as this year. He loves the minions and zoo animals. Where do you all buy your costumes? I can never seem to find ones I really love. I made a pretty easy purple minion costume with a purple hoodie sweatshirt and black overalls - I basically just had to make they eye ball head band and put a tuft of purple yarn hair on the top of the hood. And then DS threw a fit and wouldn't wear it. womp womp. The year after, I bought Baymax from Amazon for $30 and called it done. LOL Save

DD is going to be Eevee from Pokemon. We go all out with decorations but it's really for our own benefit because we live in an apartment and don't get trick or treaters.

My 4 year old wants to be Princess Poppy, a zombie, Belle, and Scooby Doo. I'm waiting to see if something sticks before I buy anything. I have no idea what to do for my 15 month old. I would like to do a theme with them but it depends on what DD1 decides on. If I can find a 12/18 month Moana costume I will get it for DD2 because she's obsessed but I've only seen them in bigger sizes.
We don't hand out candy now that we have kids. We did before kids and handed out full sized candy bars and soda because we only got 10-20 kids. Now we just buy king size bars and give to each of our neighbor kids and that's it.

Well, I am not really planning a costume for myself because I will either be eleventy weeks pregnant, birthing a baby, or with a newborn. Not sure what H will do. But DD insisted on being Rocky from Paw Patrol. She did not want picture documentation, though. This is her picture protest face. Poof

Also we are in a new house do I don't know exactly how many TOT we get. And honestly I'm not sure if I will pass out candy because it involves me having to get up multiple times...
I'm hoping it is a good TOT neighborhood for DD (and the new LO).

I love Halloween. DS1 is wearing an android morphsuit. DS2 is Jake and the Neverland pirates.
We get maybe 100 trick or treaters. Every year i do the teal pumpkin option but nobody ever wants wants it. I'm doing Reeces cups this year.
I want to dress up but I'm not sure if I'll have time to make a costume. I have LLR Halloween leggings from last year that i may wear again. I'd like to make myself a black tulle skirt and be a witch.
Decorations- we have a circular driveway so the grassy area in tree front I make a graveyard. I have witches hats to hang from the trees this year too.

I always dress up for Halloween. Always. We watch Halloween movies all month. My favorite is, of course, Halloween 1 and 2. The best!
We usually go trick or treating, but this year we are passing out candy because it's a work nignt for my H. But I'm excited for that.
Last year I dressed C as Elliot from ET and I was Mia Wallace.

Emmentaler , nope, he started freaking out when I tried to pull the sweatshirt over his head (neck was a bit tight, he has a large noggin) and wouldn't let me get him in it for any bribe I offered. I was super sad. But here's a pic of him with his minion posse pdq: *poof minion pic* and pumpkin: SaveSave

I usually don't even think about Halloween until October, but this year we saw costumes at Costco a few weeks ago, so bought them super early. The boy is going as a fireman and the girl is going to be a fairy.
Our previous dogs both hated Halloween, but we have a new puppy, so I've got a fresh slate to dress her up and take her out with us. I just can't decide what dog costume to get. They are all so cute!

The number of TOT seems to vary by the year. DH always stays home to pass out candy while DS and I TOT. We usually go about 2 blocks and then he's done. I always let him pick the costumes. His first pick was Mickey and of course I was Minnie. The next year he was a police officer and I was his prisoner. Last year he chose AJ from Blaze and since I was being lazy I reused my Minnie costume. He hasn't really said yet what he wants to be this year. We'll go to Party City next week and I'll let him pick our costumes again. I only have a couple decorations but keep adding each year.

Reese she decided to be slime this year.
She did realize that she is not getting a prepackaged halloween costume, and she is perfectly okay with that.

The boys want to be Buzz and Woody.
We don't get ToTers in our neighborhood, so we don't decorate. We drive to the officer's neighborhood on base where they hand out hotdogs, drinks (including shots or beer), and popcorn in one cul de sac and hot chocolate and apple cider in another. They close off the streets and have security forces patrolling, and everyone sits in their driveways to hand out candy, so it's perfect for little kids.

DS cannot decide. It's mostly between Ninjago, Cat Boy, or Batman. I'm forcing a decision next week.
His past costumes were:
1 yr - giraffe 2 yr - shark 3 yr - garabage truck 4 yr - fire fighter

I'm making the older one a firefighter (he has an awesome outfit that was a gift) and the baby a Dalmatian. I can't wait. I think MH will be able to make the wagon into a fire truck, he's crafty like that.

S1 has declared that he's "too old to dress up" but then gets mad when I point out that you have to be in costume to ToT, so we'll see. I've bought him an awesome Captain Jack Sparrow costume for when he, inevitably, changes his mind.
S2, as usual, will make a game time decision. He has an impressive costume collection bc he plays dress up basically all day every day. Current top contenders seem to be Spider Man, Batman, and Superman.
DD will be Cinderella bc she already has clear sparkly jelly shoes which will make perfect glass slippers. Plus a blue dress will look really lovely with her blue eyes.
H and I have decided to dress as Belle and the Beast.
We do a fair bit of decorating, and I've already made two trips to Michael's and Home Goods to beef up the decor. We do a spooky, old-timey Tim Burtonesque type of decorating inspired by the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland.
When I was teaching I loathed Halloween but now that I have kids of my own I get really into it.

I usually get an assortment of stuff, bc I have children with food allergies and I understand the plight of Halloween. I get a variety pack of candies from Costco, then I get something nut free, something gluten free, and something non-food (often the packs of Play Doh from Costco). We'll have a teal pumpkin and I'll keep all of the treats separate. We live in a very walkable neighborhood so we get a LOT of ToTers

Ds1 wants to be Link from the new Zelda game. He was Li k before but it was the old green Link not new blue Link. Ds2 says he wants to be a zombie but I think thats too scary for a 4 year old...I'm working on him being Batman. I go all out for decor inside and out because ds2 is autistic and Halloween is his favorite holiday. He gets such joy from it. He seriously watches Halloween movies all year long. Our neighborhood is awesome for Halloween. There are tons and tons of Trick or Treaters and most every house is lit up and decorated. Its like it ised to be when I was a kid. Or old neighborhood was dead and it was so sad, we got lucky when we moved last year. I usually do a special spooky dinner on Halloween. Pinterest is the best for ideas. Not sure what I will do this year. I've been wanting, for years, to host a pre-ToT chili dinner party on Halloween and I think this year might finally be the year I do it.

I really wanted them to go as Sully and Mike, but DD wasn't into it.
So far the top contenders are Princess and the Frog, or Red Riding Hood and a wolf although I may just reuse DD's owl from year 1 for DS, because it is so ducking cute and just let DD wear a sparkly dress.
We won't be dressing up.

I'm so behind on Halloween. I bought 10 new poseable skeletons for my front yard and I can't decide on a theme. DS2 is wearing the same costume as last year, DS1 is doing a group thing with his friends & DD is doing a group with the college soccer team. They set up and pass out to kids on campus. This Halloween is sucking so far.

DS wants to be Batman. We haven't decided what we're doing for ToT yet since it's a school night and our town doesn't really do anything so we have to travel.
