I will be grateful for coffee a lot this next week. Or it will be a lot of "I'm grateful that slow poke got the fuck out of the left lane finally". I think I will come up with things the night before and then look over them again in the morning. Because the thought of having to try to actually think first thing in the morning is actually pissing me off right now.

Oh, excellent top of page there.
This time I'm trying to focus less on perfection and trying to force all areas. I've done that with past challenges, and I like better that I am actively making the decisions instead of begrudgingly doing something just for the sake of doing it. I needed a rest day yesterday. Forcing myself to get on the treadmill for 10 minutes wasn't necessary.
I have a tendency to get too over obsessive and I'm hoping to work on that a bit.

GhoatMonket that's awesome and definitely the point of the challenge I think. I am so lucky because all I had to pack for a compliant lunch was some of this leftover pork. Then someone brought a gigantic fruit tray to work and there are only 3 of us here 😂 I went back to the gym today for the first time since my surgery. Super chill elliptical and 10 mins of stretching but nice to get back into the habit.

CestLaVie, I love it when lunch magically works out like that! So much better than if a giant tray of cookies had been brought in. Edited because lunch not lung.

GhoatMonket, I like the idea of coming up with gratitude items the night before and then just reviewing them in the morning. I have a hard time thinking before coffee too. I'm going to steal this strategy.

I went to an outdoor concert last night. I saved my 1 drink for the week for that (and stuck to just 1— the $10/ drink price helped with that temptation!) but I did end up having some fries afterward. They were really good Belgian fries though, so worth the indulgence.

I wanted to go hiking today but it's rainy and gross so I don't think that will happen. I may go to the library and pick up a few more paleo cookbooks to keep the ideas rolling. I am happy to get the gratitude practice. I think it will be good and also I think I am just happy being a distracted asshole with my phone lol. I don't think I care to change that that much.

well today's nutrition is going down the drain lol. But I'm burned out and the soul needs homemade spaghetti and meatballs and to share a bottle of wine with DH.

It's all about informed and mindful choices, CestLaVie! Sometimes you decide that the comfort of a spaghetti dinner and the bonding time with your DH is more important than a perfect day nutritionally, and that's ok!

Very bad nutrition day today, but everything else was great. I would never complain about losing points in another area, so I refuse to be upset about losing the nutrition points.
Though I had an awful weigh in today and lost like 300 calories from my macros, so that's fun. Today is definitely a non-compliant day.

One of the things I really like about this challenge is that it isn't solely about nutrition. Nice work killing it on the sleep, hydration, workout, stretching and lifestyle portions!!

Ran my 10 mile race this morning! And as I'm walking home, I see my favorite ice cream place is advertising a special "paleo, vegan, made with coconut sugar, almond brittle ice cream" (yes, it is a hipster ice cream shop.) I know that doesn't mean it's healthy— just maybe healthier than regular ice cream. But I may need to treat myself to one scoop.

My new planner has a section for daily gratitudes, so I'm using them for that purpose instead of meal planning this week. Today I am grateful for support from my family. I am so lucky to feel confident that H and my mom and dad love me and have my best interests at heart. I know it's not something to take for granted.

But for one day? Meh. Except it's been two days now. Today is much better so far.

Well I was getting right bitter this morning packing DS' lunch for school because I had to give him my pulled pork. But I did remember to do the grateful thing and I tried to be grateful that I have ingredients to make a healthy supper instead. Lol still bitter but I think my attitude is a bit improved.

Reading the Whole 30 thread got me thinking about moderators vs abstainers. www.pbfingers.com/abstainers-vs-moderators/I remember when I first heard about it, I felt a lot of relief! I am a moderator and I thought all the abstainers were like super humans and I just sucked. Doing the WLC is showing me that all or nothing is just fighting my personality type, and moderating is much better for me. I think it's kind of a cool concept because there are a lot of people who just have a set of rules and that's that and the decision is made and they're good, and I always wondered why I couldn't just make myself be like that lol.

CestLaVie, I am very much a moderator. Trying to abstain from just about anything just makes me want it more. WLC works really well for my personality by helping me make mindful choices about exercise and nutrition while not leaving me feeling deprived.

I am definitely not an abstainer, and a Whole would be complete disaster for me. I think attempting keto would too. I think I struggled more the first time with the temptation aspect, even if my scores didn't necessarily reflect it. It seems so daunting to take out bread, pasta, and cheese really the only three things I somewhat regularly eat that are non compliant). While I may have avoided it, I may have also had the bag of cheese out and sitting by my salad before I decided if I was really going to put it on or not.

I'm kind of glad for the grateful to be over. It was ok, but not something I wish to continue. Thinking first thing in the morning is hard.
