One of the ways I've been prepping is to try to come up with lists of possible meals so that I don't get paralyzed by what to eat. Later this week I'm going to try to come up with a meal plan for the first week.

I like the planner idea a lot. I may make it my main lifestyle challenge. Meal planning helped me so much during the last challenge. I need to start planning out my exercise as well to make sure I start off strong.

I'm biased because I'm the biggest planner proponent haha. But I do think it's so helpful to keep on track!!

I made a shepards pie last night but I was home so late that we ended up having a pizza while it was cooking. Good news is that supper is ready to go for tonight and I think I'm ready for the challenge to start.

Hi all! I have lurked a little on this group and now I am ready to be seen and hopefully join the team. I did the challenge last time and it was pretty good although i fell off the mobility and eating wagon halfway through. Eating is going to be tough because I am trying to lose weight via Weight Watchers and I keep forgetting about this challenge.

Tonight's my last night to drink, yes? Oddly enough DH had suggested taking a month off of drinking before I even told him that I had signed up again. Nice to have support at home.
So not ready to start this. Preoccupied with getting back to work. Have weekend to get organized.

Today's the day! I still need to do my self assessment but I'm excited to begin. Going to meal plan and then grocery shop for the week. What's everyone cooking?

For my lifestyle practice I've decided I need to stop taking my phone to the bathroom and texting while walking.
It's insane to me that I even do this in the first place, but I find at work I'm usually flying around so busy and literally don't even take a second to myself to go to the washroom.

Hi guys! I'm here to cheer you on. I hope everyone has a great challenge. CestLaVie, love the meal lists. It was one of the suggestions I got from a meal planning thread I made recently and it has been very helpful. Pinterest boards also. Minerva, I made my planner my LP last challenge. It was very helpful. I still fall off the planner wagon from time to time, but continue to realize how much better my life is when I am working my planner.

I have a bad habit of playing on my phone while walking to the subway. And of course I am using it on the subway as well, so I am going to put it down for my commute this week.

I'm bad about my phone too. And I notice when I put my phone down more, I read more books, which I think is better for my brain. This place is such a social outlet and it's a catch22 that drives me nuts.

I had cottage cheese and a banana for breakfast. Still wasn't full (which I should've been). I am drinking a smoothie and just thinking hopefully it will even out eventually (the hunger).

DH made pancakes and I resisted. Eggs, sautéed tomatoes and jalapeños, turkey bacon, and coffee (with almond milk). I didn't get my sleep as I went to bed really late and DS was up multiple times with bad dreams and an ear ache. Looks like I'm going to urgent care after soccer. Wheeeee!

This place is such a social outlet and it's a catch22 that drives me nuts. I hear you. There are days when DH works late that basically all of my adult social interaction comes from HIH. It's been good for me overall, but it's still screen-time and adds to feeling constantly distracted for me. I am going to try the planner route for my lifestyle challenge, building other challenges into it as applicable. I've been feeling disorganized with the start of school and I think some mindful planning could really help me get my shit together.

My nutrition started poorly today with a piece of coffee cake, but I have a healthy lunch (peanut butter apples and yogurt) and dinner (chili!!!) planned!

coconutbacon, wooooo I love it!! Eating has been A+ for me (although Day 1 is not usually the issue for me aha). I'm anxious to see if I can keep it going. I took a pic of my crazy pantry last week when McBenny posted the decluttering challenge but finally decluttered it today! It was really good timing because I made myself a compliant shelf and it got me excited about cooking possibilities. Like finding a bunch of types of rice and lentils I forgot I had...

I picked up a 2017 planner on clearance at Target today to get me through the challenge. I'm planning to use it for: Appointments Meal planning/groceries Exercise planning/recording To do list
What else do you all include? I want to keep it simple and practical.

Minerva in mine, I do workouts, meals, groceries, habits, the kids school schedules/library days, appts, hockey and soccer games etc. I am definitely trying to fend of a sugar detox headache. Grapes are slightly helping but I am looking forward to this part being over.

I did some great reading today on discomfort tolerance and frustration tolerance. It was inspired by a Noom article and then immediately after I read an article on the opioid addiction epidemic's impact on women which referred to that as well.
It was basic information plus strategies to increase your discomfort and frustration tolerance. Both of those are very important components of navigating lifestyle change and dietary restrictions and exercising even when you don't feel like it, as well as the myriad of other discomforts and frustrations that are part of everyday life.
It's new information to me, so I can't speak to long term efficacy but I would recommend the reading.

thisbitch, that sounds super interesting! I am taking a new approach this week and trying our grocery store's click and collect option. It is actually so nice. I am meal planning, and adding the ingredients I need to my cart as I go. Then tomorrow at lunch I can just go pay and pick it up. We live rurally so usually groceries mean we have to drive to the city on a non-commute day which is not relaxing. Also I am ordering so many foreign things (to me) like cacao nibs and I have looked in store for them several times and come up empty. So this might be a good way to actually get everything on my list haha.
