Pink eye is... well... a pink eye (looks like broken blood vessels, but less severe). Boogers coming out of the eye could very well just be the cold. Your tear ducts are connected to your sinuses =) If you're worried, take him to the doctor, but probably nothing to be concerned about, IMHO

you guys. I don't get it. Shit around here is so expensive. Some friends of ours through M's preschool mentioned they bought a new house, great okay whatever. At the meeting I was at last night another parent was asking her about it and wanted to see pics so I saw the address/pics/price. WTF?! Like almost 1.5 MILLION dollars. I know what these people do for a living - they aren't high level execs. So rich parents helping? But getting from normal person level to 1.5 mil isn't like, here's a few thou to help with your house.

@mthibodeaux929 this is really stupid but it is the actual white of the eyeball that gets red right? I feel like it's a little swollen around his eye which could be the sinuses like you mentioned.

stringy that's crazy! My dad helped us out with a down payment (around 15k) and the house we bought wasn't over 120k. I can't imagine someone's parents having that much laying around unless it was an inheritance.

OMG!!!!!!!
<rant> So I log into my business credit card to make a payment and find it completely removed from my login account (only my personal card is there). So I call and am on hold for 20 minutes and then find out that my card was part of a security breach, so they disconnected it from my online access, but I can still use the card (HOW IS ANYTHING MADE SAFER BY THIS!?!?!). This is the last straw for me with BofA, so I'm all ready to jump ship and get a new card. But, because my purse was stolen last year I have a security freeze on my credit. I also don't have the security freeze PIN because of my computer dying a little while back. So I go through the steps of retrieving the PIN and at every turn, with every agency, I get told that they can't accept my information and the only option is to MAIL MY REQUEST IN. That can take 10-15 days to process. WTF?!?! How in the heck were these companies approved to manage our information? This is effin nuts. </rant>

linewifekat I wouldn't think pinkeye right now. It looks to me like an effect of the cold. If he wakes up with the White of his eye all pink, and the eye entirely crusted shut, then I would lean towards pink eye. (Remember you can use breast milk to treat pinkeye.) Otherwise I would try for warm compresses over his eyes and sinuses if at all possible. Just like a warm wash rag while nursing or cuddling.

What do these people do to afford these places??

stringy I feel like there are a lot of people out there whose parents help them out financially. Andplusalso, maybe they had a rich grandma that died and left them an inheritance? I also think some people are comfortable just absolutely maxing out any amount of debt they can get approved for and then being house poor.

linewifekat, I agree with TJ. Definitely not looking like pink eye for now. If he's been rubbing at his eye, it could cause the sclera (the outer layer of the eye) to become a little inflamed in response. Compresses, humid air, and rest for the little guy!

8pm on Friday night. I crawl into bed with some wine; DH is out of town & it's been a heck of a week. I grab my iPad and go to open Netflix... It crashes. I can't get this ding-dang app to work. My iPad tells me the Netflix app updated automatically today, but I guess the update was not helpful lol.
Anyone got any show recommendations from Amazon Prime?

stringy, that's nuts! I can't imagine EVER spending that much on a house. Granted, I also live in a city where a half mil will get you a huge 5 bedroom house with 2 acres of land up on the mountain.

stringy, maybe they're like me and have dead parents! Fun story - My parents bought their house in [fancy town] in the 90s for about 400k. Twenty years later, they died, and we sold it for over double that. And then bought my new house, several towns over, for about 400k. PS - Rest assured, it'd be better to have my parents than to have this house. True story.

Ok so about the houses.
If the parents happen to be wealthy, then purchasing real estate is good for tax purposes. So my wealthy aunt and uncle buy houses for family members. And they just pay whatever. But it's like they are basically financing the house, interest free, rather than the bank.

tj that's so interesting. I don't have wealthy enough family members to know these things lol. So do the family members they buy houses for make payments to your aunt and uncle?

I'm sure that's the idea. I know they bought my grandmother's caretaker's home. But do I think my 3 cousins pay anything? No. Not really.

Yes, the real estate thing is crazy but true. I have an aunt who had to build several houses every year for awhile because she had "too much" money. She also acquired her money through the death of her husband in an airplane crash, so I'm sure she'd have happily given up that $ to have him instead.

My grandparents had quite a bit socked away, my grandfather passed away last year, and my grandmother is set up in a facility where everything is included (it's like permanently being on a cruise ship, except without being on the water lol). Ah well, not that we really need it. I know we'll get some sort of inheritance from that side eventually, and from his side we're going to be getting quite a good chunk of land that we'll use for a vacation home =)

My living room layout is driving me insane still. I need to draw up a picture of it to get suggestions. I think I found the best arrangement and just need some different furniture but I'm not sure.

Today was a tough day. When talking to A on the phone earlier, he asked if I needed him to pick anything up. I said, "an alcoholic beverage that's acceptable for pregnant women, two new children who aren't as annoying, small body bags for the cat and chickens, and a chocolate cake to drown my sorrows." I came downstairs after putting H down, and A HAD GONE TO A LOCAL RESTAURANT AND GOTTEN A CHOCOLATE LAVA CAKE WITH ICE CREAM, HOT FUDGE, AND WHIPPED CREAM.

My islands are in the path of another cat 5 hurricane. I've been following the recovery efforts there. Most people barely have a roof over their heads, no electricity or water- and there's another storm coming.
I just can't imagine.
