So do I need dumbbells or something? I started with a set of 3lb and after a couple weeks went to goodwill for a set of 8lb. they aren't used every day but on strength days they're a part of almost every move.

I prefer 5 because I hate the way she does push-ups in 6 and her rationale that regular push-ups aren't doing enough. I wholly disagree--but I also like to work on arm tone not just weight loss.

Hello. I'm here and ready to tighten my jiggles with you all on Sept 5. I hate exercising, but I'd also like to live a long life. I'm starting a diet bet that same day.

Hi guys. I'm going to join you. I weigh more now than I did when I had ds2. He is a 17 months - I have no excuse. I just really need to buckle down. Same. Except my DD is over 2 😬. I'm here for this.

I'm in. I would prefer one of her older series. 4 or 5 would be good. I did 6 and didn't love it. The weird push ups sucked and a few other moves were tricky and felt hard to maintain proper form and not get hurt.
I'm also going to do some yoga with it and keep doing C25K.
She does get annoying sometimes. I mute her and turn on music or down load an interval timer and just follow the list of moves.
You really only need weights, a chair and a way to watch her videos.

Can I jump in? I'm focused mainly on running now but I can't always get out of the house to do it because, children. This would be a good alternative for when MH is at work and I'm stuck. Shouldn't be a problem with a crawling baby and insane toddler right? Ok then.

I'm up for starting after Labor Day. I need some accountability

I am in to give it a try. I typically am not a fan of workout videos, but a structured plan and this group for accountability add some nice variety to my workout repertoire.
And losing several more inches would be nice before seeing my extended family for the holidays.

Can I ask something a little off topic? For anyone keeping track of steps per day, how hard Is it for you to hit 10k? I feel like I barely sit down most of the day and I still only get like 6k unless I make a real effort and walk for over an hour around the track or on the treadmill. It just seems really hard

I have a small house and a small office and my small dog is old so we only do a half mile walk a day. The last time I hit 10k I was at an all morning event where I walked back and forth across a gym a zillion times and then I walked 3 miles round trip to the bar later that evening. And even then I barely grazed it. It's frustrating.

On days that I don't run, I try to get at least a 15 or 20 minute walk or jog in after my strength training. I also purposely park far away from my office, lunch destination, and any potential errands. If I have time, I will walk to the end of the plaza and back before going into whatever business I am headed to. Also, drinking water out of a smaller cup and filling it constantly during the day helps both with walking to get refills and trips to the bathroom. None of these are long efforts, but they typically add up to at least 10,000 throughout the day.

A lot of the things I read make it seem like 10k is the bare minimum effort one should put into physical activity everyday, and I just feel like it's a lot of work to get there even though I feel like some days I don't sit down between 8 am and 8pm except in the car. I thought maybe I was more lazy then I realized. Lol.

My assigned parking spot at work is close to the entrance and my office is really close too. I think maybe I will start doing a couple laps around the inside of the building when I take a bathroom break or walk to the printer.

My new job is relatively desk bound, but we do a patron count every hour, so I made a point of doing a lap of the whole perimeter every hour. It definitely helped on work days. It's in just about every thread now, but this 12 minute walking workout was about 3k steps and while silly, I've used it a couple times to up my steps at the end of the day. I'm going to make DD do it with me today.

I'm in. I've been telling myself for about the last 2 months that I'll start Monday and so far that Monday still hasn't come. marsinvestigations, MH always ends up with 10k steps with not too much effort, but I feel like I really have to work for it. I have a desk job and my house is pretty small, so not a ton of walking around. However I try to make extra trips up and down the stairs and sometimes I just walk around the house for 10 or 15 minutes while I listen to a book.

Sometimes at night I'll do laps from the living room to the dining room and then kitchen just to get steps so this can't look any sillier than doing that.

@juliagulia, its usually one or two strength days (depending on the phase of the program) and a cardio day. You could always skip the cardio workouts and do the run instead. That's what I did the last time I tried to do this. I'm going to do this challenge with you guys, but I have to keep running as well since I signed up for a 5K in October.

Ok I'm going to join you. I've been trying to do her 6 week mini challenge on my own but haven't been able to keep up with it. I did 6.0 over the winter and it was the most consistently I've ever worked out in my whole life. Let's do this!

For me, it stresses me out to track the number of reps. I'm normally doing this while my kids are playing. And I get interrupted. ALOT! So then I lose count and only some end up with numbers and that bothers me. So I just don't count. I base success based on how I feel and moving up to bigger weights as I progress.

For less than 20 min/day, I think I'm in. I like to workout before work, but I don't have motivation for longer workouts, so think could work for me.

Can I ask something a little off topic? For anyone keeping track of steps per day, how hard Is it for you to hit 10k? I feel like I barely sit down most of the day and I still only get like 6k unless I make a real effort and walk for over an hour around the track or on the treadmill. It just seems really hard I don't track anymore, but when I did it was impossible for me to get to 10k during the work week unless I went on a long walk (desk job). On the weekends I would easily get 10k between errands and cleaning and chasing my insanely active kid around.

Same, I can't figure out a good goal to set because I'm either way over or way under, depending on the day.

I started tonight before I knew this thread was here! I need the accountability support. I'm 15 lbs over my pre baby weight, which is more than I thought. I am in my brother's wedding on January 20th and want to look and feel better by then!

I like that my Fitbit buzzes me if I haven't gotten 250 steps in an hour. It's a good reminder to get up and move for a few minutes.
