Anyone want to discuss Halloween costumes? For yourself or your loved ones?
Halloween is still quite far away 2.5 months!) but I figure for those who are making/sewing costumes, we could get some inspiration.
Also welcome here: listing costumes you have or are in search of (ISO) for swap purposes.

I'm becoming more and more sure that we're going to dress up Nugget as Daenerys Targaryen for Halloween because her hair is such the perfect color for it. Not sure which outfit yet, although the blue flowy dress might be the easiest to sew.

E wants to be a ghost. I want to do a cool ghost, not just a sheet with eye holes. Lol. I'm thinking a solid white base with a hood, paint his face white and put layers of tulle or cheesecloth or some combo over the top. I'd like to do something to light up his face, too.

R wants to be a princess...specifically Sofia the First. We'll see if that changes over the next month or two. Probably not making any costumes. Carter's has cute ones that go pretty cheap on sale so we'll see.

We might dress the dogs as dragons. Considering dressing myself as Melisandre and J as Varys, but we will see... Might be a bit ambitious for us. We also have Hogwarts robes we could wear, and make a mini one for her...

My goal is to sew a clown costume for L. I haven't sewn anything in a long time so we'll see how that goes!

R changes her mind every other day. She currently wants to be a Siamese cat.
A wants to be a rainbow cat.
I suppose that should be easy ish?

P wants to be a pumpkin. I started asking a few weeks ago to see if it would change before I started making something. A also wants to be a pumpkin because that is what P is going to be. We'll see. I think I'll probably have to make the costume for P. I don't think they make pumpkins in 4T, though I haven't looked yet.

I think we're going with Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf. I'm pretty excited about it!

Ugh, I always made my own costumes as a kid, but I totally don't have the time or energy to do that now. So I guess we'll buy one but it kind of makes me sad. There is a costume swap somewhere around here, but I never hear about it until too late. I must ask around.

This was also me in past years - feeling sad about store bought - but - I figure, I can try to prioritize it in future years if it works out. If not, meh. I was all, "I remember mom always making our costumes and they were so great and awesome!" and my sister said, "did you see photos of us at age 1 and 3 in homemade costumes?" me: "No, I guess it was when we were older." her: "So cut yourself some slack until they start wiping their own butts."

This sounds like me talking to my mom about the lack of "fun" on our "vacation"

LO want to be the same thing he was last year (fireman) I was hoping to get a duo costume together for the boys, but I guess my only option is to make the baby a Dalmatian if I want that.

I'll have to double check the size-pretty sure it's 2T and that I can find all the pieces (tights, long sleeve brown shirt, puffy monkey vest with hood) but R was a monkey last year. It was adorable. Yours for free, if you want it. *poof*

I am thinking DS might be Harry Potter this year. It's probably my last year before he has a real opinion on what to be. We've dressed him up as something every year but this will be the first year I actually take him around the neighborhood.

I seriously doubt I'm going to have time to make costumes this year, and unless things get exponentially better with family in the next 2 months, we're not really going to do Halloween, anyway. Our costumes are likely coming from the multiples consignment shop this year. I obviously have zero motivation this year.

I don't know what our Halloween plans are. Our neighbors are too spread out to do anything around here. There is a trunk or treat that we may check out this year, although that doesn't sound nearly as fun as going door to door.
I would love to do fun coordinating costumes for J & M but I have no ideas yet.

Now R wants to be Kumi from Beat Bugs (she's a lady bug) That would be so cute! And probably not terribly complicated to DIY- dress, puffy vest, ladybug shell, stick some antennae on a pair of headphones.

This sounds like me talking to my mom about the lack of "fun" on our "vacation" Which role were you in? Eh a little of each. She was kind of like "I don't remember all this screaming when you guys were little." Me: well you tell me any time I ask for actual "how did you do it?" Parenting advice that you've repressed all the early memories so.. But she also reminded me that they probably didn't head to the beach for a week at these ages. Then again I have photo evidence with us on a sailboat at this stage. Easier when you just don't put life jackets on kids I guess.
