Cleaned my whole house today, top to bottom. Just got back from a walk. My dogs are barking. I said this to MH and he told me I was 90....but I like that phrase.
A had her 2 year appointment and it went well. Went out to lunch with my mom and had the best veggie burger I've ever had. So, so good. I'm thinking early bed tonight because A has been waking up about an hour earlier than usual the last couple days, so I'm thinking that may be her new normal...

I want to participate today but the headache I have is so awful right now, I have to squint to even type this. Send meds. This sounds awful. How are you feeling now?

Oh and I'm kind of starting to let the reality of life with this new baby sink in. Up until now I have felt very positive and confident about it because we have btdt with the whole raising a baby thing. But on my walk I was thinking some thoughts:
1.) im going to have to parent A all day while only getting little chunks of sleep all night 2.) im going to have to parent a toddler while taking care of a newborn 3.) im going to have to sleep train another kid 4.) im going to have to get A to and from preschool/activities/playdates while keeping W on a nap schedule 5.) im going to need to be prepared for behavior and sleep problems from A in response to new baby
the only thing that keeps me from freaking is that nothing about this is special and people literally do this all the time, including moms here. So im sure it will be just fine...

avocadotoast sorry for the sucky reaction. I used to double up my pills a lot when on the pill and I wouldn't notice a difference, but everyone reacts differently to the hormones. I guess now you know you can't do that!

My dad is still in the hospital. The doctors don't know why he is having intermittent fevers lasting a out 1-2 hrs per day. It is bizarre.
I have my first ultrasound tomorrow. I'm freaking out. I'm literally having nightmares. Hoping for good news.

Also, I ordered some stuff on Shutterfly a couple weeks ago. I accidentally sent it to our place on the East Coast which was 2 addresses ago...so some stranger has an 8x10 photo of my family, a magnet and a gratitude notebook with my kid's photos on it...I feel creeped out.

shellyr sorry to hear about the nightmares. I had them every night for the first 12 weeks until we got NIPT results. It is horrible. Good luck tomorrow, I will be thinking of you.

Dammit.
Because we haven't had enough plumbing problems around here, there is now a major leak above our kitchen. No idea where its coming from. Must be a pipe below the upstairs bathroom, because everything looks fine there. Husband is too doped up on sleep meds to be of any help. Gonna have to wait til morning and hope for the best (we can't find any emergency plumbers). Hopefully I will still have a kitchen ceiling by then. When it rains, it pours.

librarylady Nap schedules for baby #2 will probably need to be more flexible than with baby #1. There is also nothing wrong with car seat or Ergo naps. You would never leave the house if you limit yourself to a strict crib nap schedule, especially in the beginning! You can totally do this. I would write more now but it's late and I'm exhausted. You could start a post for tips on handling life with 2+.

flippinchica librarylady it can be overwhelming to think about but it'll be ok. Or it will be super hard and you'll get through anyway! FWIW I found the transition to 2 much much easier than the transition from 0 to 1.

Have you ever missed a birth control pill and had to take two in the same day? I did that yesterday and it wiped me out. I was so sick in the middle of the night - nauseous andnpuking. I ended up having to sleep in and come in to work late today. doubling up and the first day of the pack always made me barf. Which is weird because I didn't barf much while pregnant

redandblue , Yeah, I've got 2 more quotes happening this week. I mean, I knew it would be expensive, but blah. We'll probably bite the bullet and spend the money, but it's a hard pill to swallow. We still need to get the yard/UG sprinkling quoted out too. Since we're nearing fall, I'm ok if we only do grass and irrigation. We can always add plants and trees next year. I just don't want to live with a mud pit. I know we need to spend all this money, but man it hurts. Sticker shock for sure! It's funny you're picking all that stuff out now. I JUST decided on door hardware, like today, and we're about a month from being complete. LOL. I agonized FOREVER on siding, too. I just could not make up my mind. I love what we ended up with though. I've gotten a lot of compliments already. building a house ground up with as a custom home, is such a giant pain. It's awesome, but a huge pain. There's a reason the house I grew up in had electrical plug every 2 feet in the kitchen. Decision fatigue.

I thought I'd be a mess since I'm sensitive to the birth control hormones, but I never got sick once when I was pregnant.

CestLaVie, I have heard that for some people the transition from 0 to 1 is the hardest and I really hope that is the case for me. It makes sense to me that the transition into becoming a parent would be the most challenging.

It makes sense to me that the transition into becoming a parent would be the most challenging. I was just discussing this with DH last night. I have also heard people say 1 to 2 is harder but I just don't see how that is possible! I'm hoping I agree with the ones that say 0 to 1 is harder!

At least for me when I had 1 I was transitioning into a new "job" from teacher to SAHM, transitioning from being a non parent to being a parent, and didn't have any IRL mom friends. At least now I have been staying at home for over 2 years, mom-ing for over 2 years, and have some fellow mom friends. It HAS to be easier. Or so we keep telling ourselves....hahah. And that's funny that you discussed this with YH last night, so did I.

It makes sense to me that the transition into becoming a parent would be the most challenging. I think a lot of it had to do with how old your oldest is too. S1 was 3.5 when S2 was born. He was potty trained and pretty independent with a lot of thing. It would have been entirely different had he been 2.5 instead. KWIM?
