Last weekend of July

And I am living it up. 

My husband took both kids on the train to grandparents' for a week. I have a week plus two whole weekends to myself. 

I'm blasting music and cleaning the house and I am going out for a drink with a neighbor (it's like our first date!) tonight.

Oh and 14 years ago today, my husband had a kidney transplant. I was feeling extra emotional today watching him walk away with both kids and carrying a giant backpack.

piratecat that sounds amazing! My sister is in a similar situation right now- BIL’s parents took her kids for a week. I’m jealous!

We are on our way to my MIL’s house right now, so at least we will have more hands on deck for a bit. We have one week at MIL’s and then one week at my parents’ house. I did a bunch of cleaning right before we left, including clearing out the fridge. I’m already looking forward to my big Costco trip after we get back. 😂

I swear every time we make this long drive, we see some sort of produce scattered on the road. Today it was tomatoes- poor guy blew a tire on his semi. Fortunately it didn’t look like too much of his truckload fell off.

Traffic hasn’t been bad, and the kids have been fine in the car… hoping that holds for the next 2.5 hours.

I'm working on laundry and drinking wine. 19 Crimes Snoop Dog's Cali Red, one of my fave reds. I started The Decameron on Netflix and it's hilarious.

My H has done it with the big kid every summer since little kid was born but this is the first year he's taking both kids. 

Coming home to a clean house is the best -- good job!

It’s our 6th anniversary today and DS2 turns 3 tomorrow! If someone had told me these things 10 years ago I would have never believed them!

My sister and I spent the day party prepping for tomorrow since DH is working. We have such a fun bluey party planned for DS2. DS1 really got into planning and had a great time prepping pass the parcel and keepy uppy for the littles.

IIRC your parents are in my area (San Francisco/Manteca Great Wolf Lodge LOL)? School starts this week or next week for most districts so your kids will get to enjoy empty parks and splash pads except for us weird homeschoolers 😉

Starting tomorrow, I have two weeks off from work and I am so looking forward to sleeping in and doing the bare minimum to get us through our days. I'm finishing laundry for the week tonight and groceries have been picked up, so now I just get to sit on the couch for the night!

I just hate spending so much money on FOOD. Like I'm totally the vacation and going out to eat person, don't mind spending money on that. But just regular boring everyday food costing this much all the time?? Seems so unfair 🤣

Dang your school districts start so early! We still have three and a half weeks of summer left.

100% this! I’ve seen no decrease whatsoever. Inflation has been killing us over here! I have to shop sales, use coupons and use Flashfood to try to help our budget.

I would actually go to all the yoga classes I could, maybe organize my storage closet (that sounds lame huh), order in some good food.

I get like alllll my kids desserts/snacks/bread in the clearance section and freeze it. I like going early Monday morning cuz they have a ton of cookies/cupcakes/donuts from the weekend on sale. And I buy the managers special stuff for fruit and veggies a lot. And it's still a lot of money!!
