 With Prime Day right around the corner and the holidays on the horizon (Costco is already carrying Halloween decorations and costumes  ), I thought it would be fun to have a thread to share things you are loving (or hating) these days or looking for recommendations on. I am looking for: A good quality knife set that isn't $$$$ Glass food storage containers (I got the Snapware Pyrex set at Costco last year and am returning as so many of them have chipped around the edges) Storage containers for cut up fruits and veggies for the fridge |

I don't think I have anything huge/major, but a Kindle of some sort for H for Christmas is on my list, deciding between the paperwhite & original.

They don't stain or get worn like the ones I used to use (which are the Rubbermaid ones with red lids). They aren't quite as easy to store though. |

Games we already have and love - Farkle, Phase 10, Monopoly Deal, Outfoxed (they're outgrowing this), Guess Who. We have Ticket to Ride Jr and don't love it and another cooperative game that I can't remember the name of right now that is a bit too intricate for us.

I got two of the Echo Pops last year and like them and they are currently $17.99, however I'm really annoyed that the newer version has a clock on the front which is a really useful feature. |

I'm looking for a hair tool. They Dyson isn't in my budget so I've been eyeing up the Infinitipro by Conair. My hair is short/medium length and thinning so I'm not even sure if that's the best tool, but like the idea of the curling wand or round brush attachment .

Some things I love: My siblings and I have been addicted to this game - which is actually geared for ages 8 and up and would probably be great for any kids studying maps of the US. 10 Days in the USAI love these headphones to block out background noise at the office and have even worn them while mowing the lawn: Soundcore Anker Life |

In addition to the 10 Days in the USA game, we enjoy playing Rummikub, SkipBo, Bananagrams, Sequence, Yahtzee Frenzy, Telestrations, Blank Slate Of course, if you don't mind immature potty humor - Kids Against Maturity is a favorite in the family, especially when they make Grandma read the responses. |

The light settings are great, and when I read outside it feels like I’m reading on actual paper, no glare. Yeah, he got me a Paperwhite in early May and I use it literally daily (performed my sister's wedding ceremony off it), but he basically reads in bed at night, so I think the paperwhite might be too much for what he uses? He also just recently got into reading, so I was thinking maybe the basic for now & maybe next Christmas upgrade him? IDK, I obviously need to think on it more. I may just let the discount tell me what I'm getting. |

Codenames became a big hit in our house recently. It might be a little hard for the 9 yo yet, but you can play with partners. Mexican Train is always a hit too. |

My 18 yo will be moving into dorms this fall. Yes, exactly what you picture when I say dorms. Twin beds lofted with a desk and dresser and teeny closet.
His roommate has a mini fridge. They can’t have microwaves but do have a full size kitchen in the basement of the dorm they can use.
I know we need twin xl sheets, some sort of Dustbuster/mini vacuum, ideas for how to store snack food. (He has a generous meal plan with three meals on weekdays and two on weekends, but cafeterias close at 8. So I can see him wanting snacks for later evenings and maybe easy breakfast stuff for sleep in days.) We have shower shoes and caddy already. And laundry stuff.
Any other suggestions for must have stuff from those who have sent a kid or stayed in a dorm more recently than the late 90s?

I wasn’t a huge fan of the Dyson but I have been loving the Shark. I mostly use the flat and round brush attachments but the curling ones do work well also. |

You might have already thought about it but a small health box with common meds, a thermometer, bandaids, Clorox wipes, etc. He got a first aid kit as a grad present from my sister, but I don’t think it has a thermometer in it. That plus meds like tums and Imodium are going on the list! Thank you. I forgot these are on our list also. I’m going to stick elderberry in hers too bc I remember getting a horrendous cold my first winter away and not being sure what to do about it. They have a pharmacy on campus but that should help give her a head start on the ick. |
