I'm looking for a hair tool. They Dyson isn't in my budget so I've been eyeing up the Infinitipro by Conair. My hair is short/medium length and thinning so I'm not even sure if that's the best tool, but like the idea of the curling wand or round brush attachment . I use the revlon dry brush and it works pretty well! I have super thick wavy hair so I also use a full hair dryer some days and usually have to touch up with a straightener if I’m really doing my hair. But for basic styling I like it.

With Prime Day right around the corner and the holidays on the horizon (Costco is already carrying Halloween decorations and costumes ), I thought it would be fun to have a thread to share things you are loving (or hating) these days or looking for recommendations on. I am looking for: A good quality knife set that isn't $$$$ Glass food storage containers (I got the Snapware Pyrex set at Costco last year and am returning as so many of them have chipped around the edges) Storage containers for cut up fruits and veggies for the fridge For plastic storage containers, I recently switched to Rubbermaid Brilliance ones. They don't stain or get worn like the ones I used to use (which are the Rubbermaid ones with red lids). They aren't quite as easy to store though. I refuse to acknowledge the holidays around the corner situation, but came to rec Rubbermaid Brilliance also. I have both plastic for pantry stuff and glass for anything that may be reheated. Happy with both.

We love playing games as a family. I know they come up often as Prime Day deals, so are there any that you love? Our kids are 11 and almost 9 (with the 9yo being a bit of a reluctant reader). Games we already have and love - Farkle, Phase 10, Monopoly Deal, Outfoxed (they're outgrowing this), Guess Who. We have Ticket to Ride Jr and don't love it and another cooperative game that I can't remember the name of right now that is a bit too intricate for us. We play a lot of apples to apples and what do you meme - which are basically different versions of the same game. Also backgammon, Mexican train, and left right center

I need good portable chargers for my iPhone. I really like the iWalk ones. We are an android family, but they have them for iPhones too. If you need multiple of them, I like their charger too (it can charge other things, but the spacing is perfect for the phone batteries. Ds sometimes sticks his headphones on there too though).

We are on vacation and just got a game called “happy city”. It’s a simple game but very cute. To me it’s OK, strategy wise, but all of the kids love it. I also have an 11 year old and nine year old. Literally right now there are 2 eleven year olds, 2 nine year olds, and a six year old playing it. My kids all LOVE “One Night Ultimate Werewolf,” which really is more designed aa an adult game? But every time we have kids at our cottage, they all want to play it over and over and over again. It’s a role playing/lying game. You can use an app on your phone to play the audio that explains the roles, and then there’s a discussion, and you try to guess who the werewolves are. Sushi Go is another one we like.

I love these headphones to block out background noise at the office and have even worn them while mowing the lawn: Soundcore Anker LifeI bought these recently for a long flight, and they were great. The difference in sound levels when they were on was a lifesaver. Their earbuds are also favorites of mine. I need some room fans, we need a little extra help with these humidity levels 🥵

For the average knife person*, I got these and love them. They not only work well but they are so cool looking. a.co/d/8TKjrHD*I know some people are very particular with their knives. I am not that person. In a similar vein, I impulse bought these during Prime Day five years ago, and have been consistently surprised by how much I love them. I rarely have to sharpen them, when I do, a cheap handheld sharpener works fine. They are also quite light, which I prefer. Definitely not for someone who is very into fancy knives, but the reviews are great, so I know it’s not just me! (If the URL doesn’t work, because I can never seem to figure that out, it’s the Hampton Forge HMC01E550S Rainbow Titanium – 10 Piece Knife Set with Blade Guards, Stainless Steel.) a.co/d/9AtzeLC

Not Prime day, but Walmart & Target both have some deals on school supply basics. I saved $60 between the two and spent $120, not including backpacks & lunchboxes, for 3 kids.`

If they don't know how to play chess yet, Storytime Chess is a fun way to learn the game. It's one of those stories your 9 year old may read without realizing he's reading IYKWIM. We call it "Chess Championship" when it's used for game night. 2 of us will play, then the next 2 will play, and the winners of those 2 games play the third and final game becoming Chess Champion LOL. We also were gifted an intact old school Scattergories which has been really fun!

I have both these tools and like both for different things. The revlon brush is great for smoother blowout styles and the conair is good for more curl and wave, especially for those of us like me who aren’t great at curls with a flat iron. Both are fast, which is great for morning touch ups. I have thicker straight hair with a bit of texture but no curl. I’ve considered looking for a smaller barrel curl brush to combine the two.

I need good portable chargers for my iPhone. I have two of these and really like them if you are looking for MagSafe ones. I can get two charges on my phone with one charge of the charger. www.amazon.com/dp/B0B561QWTT?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_detailsThe Belkin one is crap it won't even charge my phone fully but it is really lightweight so it's better if you don't need full charge.

Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza What Do You Meme Family edition Oregon Trail card game(my kids 13 and 10 get such a kick out of this one) The speed at which I added that Oregon Trail card game to my cart was probably embarrassing but my 11 year old will love it!

peachtree, Lands End and LL Bean both hold up really well and have great warranty policies. I just ordered DD3 the "large" backpack, a pencil pouch, and a lunchbox from Lands End. I caught a 50% off sale for Independence Day; it was $56 including shipping and tax for all 3. Middle and high school here require clear backpacks. I have yet to find one that survives the school year. :sigh: So I guess I'll order a multi-pack for DD2 if there's any on sale for Prime Day.

My heavy on all the things soon to be 8th grader has used a Reebok backpack since 6th grade and it's still in new condition. I wash it over long breaks and he plans on using it again this year. It appears to be out of stock locally on Walmart, so I'm not sure if you can find it, but if so I definitely recommend it. Holds his school chromebook and the half dozen binders his teachers require (a whole other issue). I've offered new, but he liked it. www.walmart.com/ip/Reebok-Unisex-Adult-Felix-19-5-Laptop-Backpack-Dark-Heather-Grey/495584540

He has a Land's End one now and I like it a lot for the durability, but when I showed him one for this year he didn't like them and I am trying to give him some agency in his choices. But we very well may end up getting one. Clear backpacks sounds like a nightmare!

peachtree, I have always loved Jansport, but I am also surprised at how well DS's Under Armour backpack has held up. Especially since he loves to overload it.

Mine wanted specific Jansport backpacks this year, but at $70 each, I made an executive decision and got them both $24 Lands End ones with matching lunch boxes for the price of one of the other ones.

Facebook memories recently reminded me that we got the 13YO’s LL Bean backpack in 2015. It lasted 9 years before one of the shoulder straps began fraying. I contacted them about a warranty claim and they were able to give me all the info, I just have to print out the form and mail it to them (at my cost) for a determination on defect versus something my kid did to cause the issue. If it’s a manufacturer defect they will replace it at their cost.
If anyone is interested i will report back once I hear back from them.
Also 2024 me was super sad when the customer service rep informed me that I paid $29.99 for the bag. The closest equivalent now is $56.

melohdy, we love SET - it's a great game to just lay out on the table and work on, like a jigsaw puzzle. BUT, colorblind H cannot play at all, the colors are too similar for him.

DS1 had the same LL Bean bookbag from K through 5th, I made him get a new one before starting 6th last year (MADE him 🤣 he would have gladly carried it still, and it was still in decent condition, just worn). I ended up doing jansport ones for both boys, the double pocket ones + the laptop sleeve section and they've been perfect for this past year, and will Def last. I dunno the price comparison but SO worked for the jansport parent co so he got a really good discount 🤷♀️ lol. LL bean or jansport get my vote though, they both hold up exceptionally well.

If anyone is looking for aluminum free deodorant, I ordered this one assuming I’d be let down once again because I’ve tried 50 different kinds and still just go back to regular anti-perspirant because I hated all of them. It’s only been one day of trying it, but it is Texas in the summer, and I did walk around outside after putting it on in the heat, and I’m impressed. I definitely did some sweating, but my armpits don’t smell bad, and I never felt really sweaty in the pits like I’ve felt with other kinds. a.co/d/ayaYZzmOh and I’m not sure if it matters but I got the grapefruit lemon scent

Also, these underwear. I would have NEVER tried them on my own, but my mom and I were shopping for bras at Dillards and the woman working suggested them. Like, over the moon excited to tell me about them. I wasn’t sure if she was just good at sales or if the underwear were that great, but I didn’t really believe I would love them bc I hate all underwear ever. She pointed me to the ones on sale which were pretty cheap so I grabbed a few of those. They are AMAZING. The one size fits all blows my mind but somehow it works. Like the sisterhood of the traveling pants but with underwear. I never get wedgies. I don’t feel them digging in (which is my usual underwear gripe).I’m overjoyed that I finally found underwear I like. I get why the woman wouldn’t let me leave without trying them. I’m hoping the ones on Amazon are the same? They were definitely pricier at Dillards for the ones not on sale, but maybe that’s just department store pricing. a.co/d/2N86mEy

These and circular ones are what we’ve had for years and I love them. Just standard glass Pyrex with normal (non-snapping) lids.

I'm deep in school shopping right now. Glue sticks 30 pack is marked down right now www.amazon.com/dp/B000VXO4L2Anyone have a good, reading light? My boys share rooms, my oldest needs something to stay up and read. We have tried a few different things and they either drain batteries or get hot (desk lamp). He didn't like a light that attaches to his book either.
