I seriously can’t believe it’s July next week I KNOW. This year has been such a blur. Yesterday was 6 mos since my H passed and I wrote him a letter that left me sobbing and I woke up this morning and my eyes were so swollen. I put my mascara on and got it all over my eyelid and now my eyes are less swollen, and I look like a child who was playing with their mom's make-up. On the less Debbie Downer side, my addition project is officially complete, and I have been able to fully move into my new bedroom and it's lovely. I'm having some friends over for dinner tomorrow and they are going to help me do some of the two person jobs in the space that I can't do alone and then it will be done done. ((Hugs)) you are doing amazing

sweptaway I hope you avoid it. We are on day 7 of the 16YO’s mystery illness. We know it’s not Covid/rsv/flu/strep/mono but he’s getting worse not better and I am growing increasingly mad at the pediatrician’s practice we use and their dismissal of his symptoms (and yes I am waiting on a call back from someone to discuss this with). Thank you for letting me vent here. Ugh I'm sorry. What's going on? Maybe we can help brainstorm Sore throat, cough, extreme exhaustion (sleeping > 16 hrs a day), fever (worse since Saturday), no appetite, and cough induced vomiting (since Saturday). Negative for RSV, Covid, flu, strep, and mono. Lungs/ears/throat clear on exam. No sinus issues, no indication of a UTI. The working diagnosis is just a virus/let it run its course. My gut is now at me it’s something more but no one was taking me seriously until I asked for the practice manager to call me. We got back from bloodwork and a chest X ray I had to fight for during a virtual appt with a PA on the practice a bit ago. Update: I got proxy access to his medical records through the hospital (despite the pediatrician saying the report wasn’t ready). Left lobe pneumonia. And yes i screenshotted the results and sent them to the pediatrician.

I hope he feels better soon and that the pediatrician is actually helpful.

Not the best start to the week. On Saturday, We bought a new umbrella for our table on the deck. I opened it up this morning and sent the girls out to draw. A big gust of wind came and blew it right off the deck. Luckily the girls were ok, but 2 of the poles bent. Not sure if H will be able to fix it. And thanks to my period, I sat down and cried about it. Oof, that sucks! I'd cry too. I'm glad no one was hurt.

Have fun pobre! My kid is at sleep away camp and I’m struggling with not being able to check on her, but it’s alleviated by being in a close by mountain town by myself for a week! I’m reading and having a hard cider. I bet she's having a blast. Enjoy your alone time!

DS lost his first tooth last night. Good thing too because his front bottom teeth are coming in already *behind* the baby teeth. Apparently that's a thing that happens? He's got a dentist appointment next week anyway. But one down and MH played the tooth fairy.

And yeah DD1 had the teeth coming through behind the baby teeth. They called them shark teeth. 😂

I also am failing on finding dollar coins for the tooth fairy so he may end up with dollar bills. Where do people get dollar coins these days??

My H got a roll of Sacagawea gold dollar coins from the bank. Of course when my eldest lost her first tooth, she thought the tooth fairy brought her two pennies because she had never seen golden dollar coins. 🤭

Where do people get dollar coins these days?? I do a $2 dollar bill for teeth, also hard to come by, I just go into my local bank and ask for them. This is what I did too. Should I wait until Friday to confess that I may have given the same $2 bill repeatedly because the kids didn't know any different?

They told me to check at a bigger bank so I guess I'll try that. The tooth has been hanging by a thread *shudder* for days.

I hate self evaluations and having to pick professional development goals This is what AI is made for - not for copying word for word obviously, but using it to source ideas and then tailoring those to fit your specific position and goals. And yes, self-evals are the absolute worst.

In my ambitious first-child, first Tooth Fairy days, I sprayed a crisp $1 bill with some Halloween glitter hairspray. DD loved her sparkly dollar from the Tooth Fairy. So then I had to keep that up, lol. But it was easy (dries in like 30 seconds).
Once, late at night, we couldn’t find a $1 bill in our whole damn house for one of my DS’s teeth. DH was like, let’s just give him a $20. The glitter spray was bad enough; not setting a $20 precedent! Finally I found one in DS’s own wallet. Bonus, it was already glittery. He didn’t notice that I borrowed it. (I did sneakily replace it for him later when I got a chance.)
DD paid me back for something I bought online on her behalf recently, and there were several in that wad of cash, so now I have a little emergency stash.
