I decided to just rest today. I’ll make it up Saturday or if I’m feeling more up to it tonight I’ll do some lifting.
I did do a 10 minute stretch to try and help my cramps.

Took it easy this weekend because DD shared her cold with me, it's not too bad, but I want to be better and do fun holiday things! We did a handful of walks as a family, plus I think I walked to the grocery store once each day (it's not far, but we did not have our act or grocery list together this week). 20 minute yoga live this morning, and I will take a walk later today, and strength as well depending on work business.

Day 1 of the new block and I’m so glad they programmed lower RPE and reps because yikes. Single leg DB hip thrusts were 🔥🔥🔥 I couldn’t even manage 10 with just body weight (goal RPE was 6 and then 7) I slept SO good last night (mostly because DS slept so good) so really focusing on the water/protein today.

jaygee I’m sure you thought of this, but maybe test for Covid just in case. We are on Covid watch because our friends that we spent time with this weekend (including our older kids having a birthday party sleepover with a bunch of other girls) just tested positive yesterday. Only symptoms for the mom were headache and tiredness. No symptoms for the daughter so I’m not sure what prompted the testing! I am crossing all my fingers that we don’t spend a second Christmas in a row with Covid. 😭

Still feeling tired and DS is still sick but just doing my best. I know I’m going to be sore from the split program.

He’s home from school and it seems like an old fashion cold and nothing like when he had Covid but you never know. We just had it in September so I’ve been feeling pretty good that we can make it through the winter without. I do think I’ll get our boosters next week though just in case. I talked to a doctor friend about it and that’s what she recommended. ETA: update - Covid free for now.

Yesterday was 6 miles outdoors and I about died. It wasn't too cold (maybe 38?) and not too windy, but my legs were lead and I had an awful time pushing through. This morning I did 6.5 miles on the tread with no issues because 1) no cold, 2) no wind, and 3) no incline. Let me tell you which I preferred. 5 min warm up run w/ JJ 30 min intervals w/ Logan 30 min rock run w/ Logan No stretch yet because I had to wake up DD and get going for school, but I'll try to fit one in later this afternoon.

I had to drop my car off for an oil change today, so I walked the 1.5 miles home and I’ll walk or jog there to get it later, but that’s probably it for me today. Working around not having a car, even for a few hours, is a real pain in the butt.

45 minute PZE with CDE, 5 minute cooldown with Hannah F, 10 minute light arms with Tunde and 5 minute core with Emma for me today.
I still need to do the 75 minute PZE from this past weekend. Maybe on Wednesday.

We’re back to winter. At least for a few days. It’s 25° with a “feels like” temp of 15°. I finally decided to go with a coat for my run. It was just an easy 4 miles. I was definitely overheating by the end but felt like I needed the coat the first half. Normally I would just ditch the coat as I run the loop past my house but I had on my reflective vest since it’s dusk and I didn’t feel like wrestling with it. I’ll have to try out a few combos for this temperature range to find what works best.
Question for other cold weather people: what do you wear to protect your face? I know I’ll eventually need something but what do y’all wear that isn’t hard to breathe in? I am more of an indoor cat so I know nothing about winter sports gear 🤣

45 min pop run with Hoskins for 6km. My daughter also had a cheer comp today ( bunnyfungo) and I needed the time to myself to decompress, those events are just so… loud. I love that journey for my DD but I’ll be not unhappy when she decides it’s not for her. Cheer competitions are a total sensory overload. Between the loud music and all the flashing lights it’s just so. much. I come home exhausted. Our coach calls it a cheer hangover lol

I only ever run in a visor to keep the snow and sun out of my eyes. I honestly never even thought about covering my face and I've run a lot of miles in single and sub zero temperatures over the years. I just assumed we were supposed to let our exposed bits freeze 😂 I would think a neck gator would do it. In terms of over heating, I have fleece lined Nike mock turtle necks that run in when it's that cold. I'll layer a light weight jacket over it, but that's the most I've ever run in. I'd rather be cold for the first mile than sweating and hot the next 2-5 miles.

I can only imagine when it’s negative wind chills. If my goal is to keep running outside I have to have the gear to not tell myself I should skip it and stay inside.

I'd suggest trying a breathable neck gator. I also have a beanie with a visor that I use when I run outside at those temperatures. Warm head and ears plus snow and sun out of my eyes.

I wear a gaiter when it’s really cold, as if I’m using it as an ineffective mask for COVID. And then if I warm up enough, I pull it down so it’s just a neck warmer.

Hi!
30 min chest and tris with RK. I'm just doing her program through Dec 23 then I'll do whatever between Christmas and New Years. Not sure what I'll do after that then. Also did a 10 min core.
B - waffle L - leftover steak and baked potato D - pulled pork sandwich and pretzels S - frozen banana with PB
H is going to be away tomorrow night and then not back late until Wednesday so I am going to make two meals he would hate. Broccoli cheddar soup and shrimp with a tomato cream sauce over spaghetti squash. I am excited lol.

Last night was really fun. I am going to fit in a strength today and a nice long walk with the dog while C has baseball practice.
Food is whatever. We leave town on Saturday and I am not going to the store.

Woke up with a plugged ear and sinus pressure so yes I was in fact coming down with something yesterday. I’m going to give myself one more day break from actual workouts but I’ll be working on some reorganization projects and stuff so I’ll get some activity in that way

Why is it that every time I decide to get my shit together, my body says OH NO YOU DON'T! I got another cluster headache yesterday and spent the afternoon/evening in bed. It's not as intense today, but definitely still hanging around.
