Thank you to everyone who recommended ACOTAR to me last month! I just started book 3 and have loved every moment.
I grew up in a family that felt you should only be reading classics or something to expand your mind and fantasy was never allowed. I can’t believe it took me to 42 years old to realize I love fantasy!!

House of Open Wounds by Adrian Tchaikovsky came out today and I've already got it waiting for me on my kindle. The first book set in this world, "City of Last Chances" was one of my favorite books of the past year, and I can't wait to dive into all 600 pages. They're very bleak and focus on uncomfortable subjects like war, occupation, racism, etc. in a fantasy setting which sounds like a downer but the world building and characters are so complex and well done that I just absolutely love them.

I just finished Tell Me It's Real (T.J. Klune) and of course Libby doesn't have any of the rest of the series.

I just finished Wreck The Halls and it was meh. I gave it 3.5 stars which was probably generous, rounded down to 3 stars. It was okay, but the main characters had me eye rolling quite a bit.

I got my penguin reqs and it was Lessons in Chemistry- which on paper I should love but really hated, Tom Lake (already waiting from the library on this), and a new title to me, When Women Were Dragons. Anyone read it?

I finally read Fourth Wing. Loved it. I started Iron Flame immediately and am almost done with it.
From Blood and Ash just became available on Libby, so I'll start that next.

I finished This Spells Love and really enjoyed it. It's one of those "what if" books where the mc discovers how their life would be different if they had made different choices. I gave it 4.5 stars, I wanted more from the ending.
I also finished Single and Ready to Jingle. I didn't really like this one. The characters weren't likeable and I didn't really believe the relationship. I gave it 2 stars. One thing I did really like was the "duet" audiobook narration, I feel like I don't see this done very often but it's my favorite. I hate when the narrator does a poor job of the other characters' voices.
I also listened to Same Time Next Year and gave it 2.5 stars. It was completely ridiculous. I think I need to give up on Tessa Bailey, I enjoyed a couple of her earlier books but haven't really likes anything from her in a while. I'm glad it was short, lol.
I just started Hemlock by Kiersten Modglin because I needed an audiobook and none of my Christmas books are audio. I've enjoyed most of her thrillers but I've heard this one is more "romantic suspense".
I need to figure out which holiday book to read next. I have a bunch from KU but I feel lik most I've read so far have been a let down besides Snowed In.

Do I need to get in on this Fourth Wing thing? I generally get annoyed when books get so much hype because then I assume I will be let down. It's not award winning writing or anything, but I raced through both books quickly. But if you like stories like Hunger Games but add extra hot and spicy sex scenes then yes you will likely enjoy it.

Has anyone read Mad Honey? I’ve had it sitting on my TBR for a while, and I was just notified that I won the book during a giveaway. It looks like it has mixed reviews. I loved it. She's a little wordy but honestly the story was so good, I didn't mind.

I finished A Merry Little Meet Cute and really enjoyed it. I like my romance novels to have some decent spice and this one definitely did - I also really enjoyed the two main characters. I'm on the (Very long) waitlist for the next one in the series. In the meantime I picked up Witch of Wild Things by Raquel Vasquez Gilliland and am enjoying it so far.

The Penguin Hotline is a fun schtick but remember your friendly neighborhood librarian will recommend books for you any time! And not just Penguin Random House books either, haha. (I filled out a request too though, I'm not a monster.). At least last year they didn't stick to books they published! Don't know if that changed this year.

I'm pretty sure most of my Christmasy holds will come up in February, the waits are so long!
I was in the library and they had The Burnout by Sophie Kinsella sitting on a display. I haven't read one of her books in a few years, so I'll give it a whirl. My new library limits new book borrows to 7 days, which is annoying!

No. I will take all the recs Most of the older are good but all come with TW I started with The Pact, Nineteen minutes, house rules, plain truth, perfect match, the tenth circle, harvesting the heart Small great things was one that some liked and some didn’t but I liked it.

I received my penguin recommendations and I’m a bit disappointed. They didn’t touch the fantasy recs at all. I’ve already read crying in H mart and don’t have any interest in the Britney Spears memoir. I don’t like evie dunmore either. I think I’ll submit another request. Since your reader enjoys historical romance, she might enjoy Evie Dunmore's A League of Extraordinary Women Series. This series can be read out of order, and the latest installment The Gentleman's Gambit tells the story of an introvert who is fighting for women's suffrage and has sworn off love for good. That all changes when she meets a handsome new colleague who challenges everything she thought she knew. Another trending historical romance she might like is The Ball at Versailles by Danielle Steel. This story that follows a few women attending an overnight ball at the Palace of Versailles, and how the night changes their lives forever. I think it appeals to your reader's love of the genre as well as her interest in travel. Since your reader enjoys autobiographies, I’d be remiss not to mention The Woman in Me by Britney Spears. This autobiography recounts Spears’ tumultuous journey in stardom and has a great audiobook that’s read by the actress Michelle Williams. If she's not a Britney fan though, Michelle Zauner's memoir Crying in H Mart is a collection of intimate anecdotes about family, grief, love, and growing up Korean American. Even if she's not a fan of Zauner's music (under the moniker Japanese Breakfast), it's a gripping and deeply interesting collection of stories that should appeal to her interest in memoirs as well as cooking and travel.

When Women Were Dragons was one of my best reads of the year!! Did you do audio? I have one audible credit, trying to decide if I buy it or wait several months from the library. I mostly do audio these days and definitely did for this one. I found it soothing; I think audible is good way to go, because I had to chunk it up. I found it hard at moments. Did a lot of reflecting while listening to this one.
