Yay for an awesome night flamingo. My SIL lives in the DC area and raves about orange crushes so if you had something similar I'm sure it was good. My BIL also lives near VA beach and is an engineer working on a navy yard so next time I visit I'm looking you (and sophiegrace!) up!

@starbucks thank you. I don't need to discuss my week of CIO hell, but I'm hoping that one day I figure out what I'm doing/have done wrong. I swear this child would still be in my belly if she had a choice.

@starbucks thank you. I don't need to discuss my week of CIO hell, but I'm hoping that one day I figure out what I'm doing/have done wrong. I swear this child would still be in my belly if she had a choice. You're not doing anything wrong. At all. My son was the exact same way and it was awful, I couldn't CIO with him; and it could have been for a million reasons but who knows exactly why. I ended up doing the sleep lady shuffle with him and spending more time in his room than mine. I had a makeshift 'bed' under his crib for me to pull out and sleep on his floor. If he woke up, I'd be able to 'shhhhhh' him instantly. When he was 13.5 months old and started daycare is when he STTN. It was a lonely, frustrating, isolating, depressing time for me. This past Christmas, we had to implement a new rule of standing in his room for only 3 minutes, and he was over 3yo, it really never stops with him and I still tell him that he can't get back in my uterus 😐 So all this long winded talk is to make sure you know that there is no right or wrong way, keep trying new ways and new things, keep talking to us and don't forget that you're an amazing mother. Sleep struggles totally suck. Hugs, friend ❤️

flamingo...Chesapeake Bay? Drinking a crush? You sound like you're right down the street from me! But IIRC you're on the southern side of the Bay Tunnel Bridge, right? Yep! Are crushes a regional thing here? I remember from last time we lived here there was a place out at the oceanfront known for their 'orange crush'. ETA: waitwhat yes, come visit your BIL! We definitely need a mid-Atlantic gathering!

flamingo crushes are regional and they're all delicious! I'm partial to the orange variety, but only if they fresh squeeze the orange right there. Something about it is so much better than bottled orange juice.

Remember what it was like to drink like a fish and still be able to function normally the next day? Maybe I'll choose to have that back the next time someone asks what I want my superpower to be.

DH and I ended up having a great night. Both kids were in bed by 7:30 so we got our vodka tonic on and played gin rummy and listened to music all night. We had snacks laid out and it reminded us of life B.C (before children). It was great. Those are my favorite nights.
But I'm feeling it this morning. J woke up at 6:30 and DH FINALLY got both kids up and let me sleep another hour. It was heavenly. Then we went to the public market and grocery shopped. Both kids are napping and I could use one myself but I feel like I need to be productive. I don't want adult today.
ETA- re reading my post it sounds bad. Y'all know I love my kids to the moon and back and back again and wouldn't trade it for the world.
ETA again- WRONG THREAD. oops
