Oh AmyG that is total crap. I’m so sorry. Can you get a divorce and qualify for Medicaid on your own? I have no suggestions, clearly. What ducking shit. Well I've thought it over a bit. lol March next year dh will qualify for Medicare and well that's a different plan to figure out medicare part d and then pay for out of social security, but it would mean my care on the hc.gov site will be cheaper lol. Figuring out how much care we can get this month and like I said maybe next month before there's no coverage. I have done a year without insurance not that long ago, and I know the trick to ask for self pay discounts if it comes to it. and if we join the kroger rx club plan for $72 a year our meds will likely be <$30 a month for all 8 of them. I will have to limit specialist visits and stop all phys therapy cause most are 50% copay after deductible and none of the deductibles are reasonable that I can afford the monthly payment for. Have narrowed down to about 7 plans that might end up not costing too much monthly and would give some cheap care and protection from catastrophic medical bills. but the damned $10-18k deductibles are ridiculous when we know most Americans do not have an extra $1000 for a simple emergency like car troubles.

Just another day, another mass shooting in TX. 😞 A friend of mine was at the Allen Outlets yesterday when the shooting happened. It was her first outing with her 2.5 month old. She is ok and was not in the immediate vicinity, but still very shaken up and spiraling in what ifs. It makes me want to go throw bricks through the governor’s window.

imapenguin, your poor friend. I’m glad she is safe, but that must have been terrifying for her. I hate that our country can’t get its shit together to pass gun safety laws. It makes me so ashamed and depressed every time this happens (how fucked up is it to even have to say that?). And also so appreciative of everyone fighting the good fight for reform.

I went back through and read from earlier in the week....big hugs to both of your starbuck and cnf. Starbuck, DD goes to school where I work. It is a very large district, so when anything happens, principals have to contact the communication department at Central Office before they send an email to parents. I just looked back at one when we had a few weeks ago when several parents called the police because they saw a suspicious looking person at the bottom of our school's driveway during morning carpool. It went into decent detail that described what was seen, how it was handled, and why it ended up not being a credible threat. I cannot even imagine having to deal with what you did. I'm so sorry. Cnf, we had the same threat. There was increased police presence at a lot of our high schools on Friday. I had an off-campus meeting all day, and even though DD is only in elementary, I still had a pit in my stomach knowing that I wasn't in the building. Of all the things I worried about 16 years ago when I first started teaching, the ever present anxiety about being shot at work would have never crossed my mind. There just aren't words. And I just fucking cannot with those mother fuckers from TX and the training for 3rd graders. May a special circle of hell be created just for them.

It's amazing how much it felt like "just another day in the life of" getting another threat, as fake as it may have been. We're doing all our spring safety drills this week and I am already very anxious for our lockdown. We aren't told in advance when it will be and that just adds to the anxiety. I hate how commonplace all of this has become.
