Y’all, I officially caught COVID at Disney World. Fuck it all. The silver lining is that my symptoms didn’t show up until about 5 hours after getting home yesterday. So at least I get to convalesce in my own bed. I feel really bad about anyone I exposed on the plane ride home - I wore a KN95, so I hopefully my germ shedding was minimal. 😔 For those who got Paxlovid, did you go through your GP or an urgent care? Ugh, I'm glad you made it on the trip and back at least. I am in denial about our Disney trip coming up. I didn't take Paxlovid but my PCP offered it to me over the phone.

I'm nervous about our trip to Disney. The plane ride with my newly 2YO with questionable masking. Crowds. Eating indoors. I'm trying not to think about it too much and really hoping the 8+ months of immunity after COVID + vaccination is true and our bivalent boosters are enough. My H is the longest out from infection back in May.

My H is the longest out from infection back in May. My girls got their bivalent booster about a month ago so I'm hoping they are working full blast. Dd2 and DH will be just over 8 months since they had covid so I'm not sure they have any immunity left. DH and I will be 4 months out from our bivalent boosters and I feel like I've been seeing that immunity might start to go down 4-6 months after it so that has me freaking out a little. We are going with my parents who both had it in Oct/Nov so hopefully they have some immunity, and I think they got the boosters a month or two ago. I'm trying not to freak out but its hard. I know we are doing what we can to stat safe. We haven't taken a real vacation since before covid and this is a once in a lifetime trip for us. We plan to try ot eat outdoors as much as we can and we got an airbnb and a car so hopefully that cuts down on exposures.

We flew cross country at Christmas and we made it there and back without covid! So there is hope for flying. DH and I wore KN95s and the girls wore surgical masks. The highest risk times are in the airport and on the plane until you've reached cruising altitude (about a half an hour into the flight, until the air really gets circulated) and then again when the plane is parked/until you deboard.

We went to Disney in November and somehow managed to not bring home covid. Now we also drove from VA, so I don’t know if that affected things, but I’m still calling it a vacation miracle, especially since nobody was masking. (Family we met there masked on the planes but that was it.)

That's good to know. I saw something that said to keep your vent open too to keep the air moving around during the flight.

And the 2YO was exposed at daycare for the second time in 2 weeks so who knows if we'll even make it to Disney at this rate.

Well that’s the thing- my kids are also like that, but I told them I was going to be strict during those times and then there could be mask/snack breaks and i think it helped have expectations. At the airport if a snack was required we tried to do it as far from others as possible and was quick about it.

I'm basically assuming we will come home from Disney with covid. We will mask indoors and we are staying in a condo with a full kitchen so most of our meals will be carryout or outdoors in the parks. I just hope nobody gets sick right before or during our trip.

I’m already feeling a lot better than yesterday, thank goodness. No fever so far today.

And, you know, no armed government guards parked outside.

I just hope nobody gets sick right before or during our trip. This is pretty much exactly how I'm feeling and our plan too. I think I'm going to be relying heavily on the xanax the next week and a half.

I am *hopeful* that whatever new plan they create for treating covid as an endemic includes a lot of the same healthcare cost requirements, but I'm also not incredibly optimistic

I'm curious what the protocol is in our area. I haven’t been able to get it. But I didn’t push hard either. I put a call into my GP yesterday and by the time she got back to me this afternoon, I was feeling a lot better. In not so great news, my MIL tested positive this afternoon. She is definitely going to get Paxlovid.

So we finally have it in our house. My 6 year old dd threw up Sat night and has had a sore throat. Negative rapid yesterday but took her in today to see if it was strep. Turns out it's COVID, but still negative on a binax even tonight. So I'm guess we are early or viral load is low? She's finally perking up, but she shares a room and the rest of us could go down. We are all neg as of today, but I'm not trusting these tests too much.
