This context is bonkers to look back on. I remember it happening like this but having the chronology laid before me 2.5 years later is nutty. So it's September 2020. There are NO available covid vaccines. TFG clearly has covid. Biden's health advisor insists that he stay 13 feet from TFG. A few days later, TFG is hospitalized and Biden is fine. www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRsh4UYL/

I am struggling. DD2 seems like she is sick all the time. I mean first year in PreK but omg. We also have no family around to watch her for the most part and DH started a new job so can’t get time off yet. She woke up Tuesday with a fever. It went up to 105. 😭😭😭
Wednesday went to the pediatrician and besides a high fever there was nothing wrong. 😑 Throat wasn’t red. Ears, eyes, nose were fine. Lungs were clear. No throwing up or diarrhea. Not coughing, sneezing or runny nose. They did a full respiratory viral panel, plus UTI, flu, Covid. All came back negative. No rashes appeared or blisters to show hand foot mouth. She was eating and drinking fine. Just a random super high fever virus.

Hugs fancynewbeesly. It’s so frustrating when it’s just a virus without a diagnosis

fancynewbeesly is this the first time she’s had that high of a fever with no other identifiable symptoms? Asking because DS was diagnosed with a periodic fever syndrome a few years ago. He would spike fevers over 105 MOTN but swab negative for EVERYTHING. I started looking into it and by piecing together phone calls to my peds office, office visits, texts to family I realized he was having these fevers every 6 weeks on the dot. His pedi initially blew me off but after the next 6 week round I insisted and got a referral to a specialist. The 105 fever was especially notable. When he’s actually sick it was only ever in the 101-mid 102 range. Either way I’m sorry she’s having fevers so often. It’s so stressful.

She has had high fevers since she started pre k usually with one other symptom. She has had RSV and pneumonia twice. This is the first time the fever was stand alone. But she runs fevers for days. Like when she had pneumonia it was 6 days of high fevers 102.5-105.

She was fever free yesterday and we sent her to school. In hindsight she probably would have benefitted from an extra day off. But no one to actually watch her. Today she was more crabby and tired, no fever but no real appetite either. She fell asleep min the couch at 8pm so hopefully she is back to herself tomorrow morning.

I would say 90% better. Her appetite is back and she definitely is in a better mood. We went out to lunch and she fell asleep on the way home, but then ended up with a 2 hour nap this afternoon---which isn't like her. But, back to school for her tomorrow

I don’t want to jinx it, but N seems to FINALLY be on the mend- 7 days later. No fever all day, less coughing, and no throwing up. He even ate a bunch of pizza. Woo!! He can finally go back to school. He missed an entire freakin week!!
But of course now DH is Super sick and has barely moved since yesterday.
Cool cool.

I’m supposed to go back to work on Wednesday, but my MIL (who watches DD2) is hesitant about coming back this week. DD2s 10 days would be up on Wednesday. I will stay home if I have to but I feel horrible about missing so much work since we don’t have the subs. And losing so many sick days. Luckily I had rollovers from previous years. But if I have to take off 3 more days, I think that will leave me with about 4 3/4 days.

Y’all, I officially caught COVID at Disney World. Fuck it all.
The silver lining is that my symptoms didn’t show up until about 5 hours after getting home yesterday. So at least I get to convalesce in my own bed. I feel really bad about anyone I exposed on the plane ride home - I wore a KN95, so I hopefully my germ shedding was minimal. 😔
For those who got Paxlovid, did you go through your GP or an urgent care?

If a kid is sick, you give them meds, and then they immediately (like, within a minute) throw up, do you give them more? I don't think she threw up much, but I didn't see it, H was helping her.

Ugh, I hope that you are feeling better. I would call your regular doc to get their opinion. My mom’s doctor said they are mainly giving it to elderly and people high risk such as in chemo.

Thanks, friends.❤️ So far, my only symptoms are fever, which is responding well to meds, and congestion, which I have most of the time anyway. Fx my many (5, I think?) vaccines do their job and keep it mild.
I’m feeling very relieved that both kids have the bivalent booster at this point!

Oh no! I'm glad you didn't feel sick until you got home at least. This is my biggest worry right now, we leave on Saturday for Disney. I plan to KN95 on the plane or maybe even N95. Did you guys mask at all at Disney? I'm thinking we will indoors or if it's really crowded outdoors like waiting in lines. I feel like it's inevitable though. When DH got paxlovid in May he went through urgent care and they made it pretty difficult. I would check with your PCP first if you can. I hope you feel better soon!
