I'm not scandalized. I think it's funny as shit though. I realized last night that neither H nor I have ever shared the stories of when and how we cashed in our V cards, and I am perfectly okay with that. I regret to inform we did with each other. I got lucky this shit worked out in hindsight, lol. |

Honestly, it’s better and more authentic to me if the entire book is a petty festival of grievance. I think when your grandmother is the literal queen of England, it's unrealistic you're going to hear about her death before the public if you aren't there.

I'm sure they called and WhatsApped the rest of the family before they issued the statement, though. I doubt Zara found out from the news. That is one thing that would really hurt me - if the only notice I had was a text from my H telling me to call him immediately and then him saying "your cousins posted on Facebook that your grandmother died while you were in the air." (I am a lowly peasant, obviously.) Now, if he had a text from Meghan AND some kind of message from Charles, that changes how I view it. But also who knows what actually happened. |

I legit thought that kill counts were something that you just…didn’t bring up. But I don’t know where I got that from, so maybe I made it up. I’m not in a military family so not an expert. We have several close friends that did multiple tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, and it’s just…not something I would ever ask either of them. H wouldn’t either. I remember we were at a party years back and some random was drunk and asked how many people he killed. Our friend just walked away and it was very awkward. It always seemed to be the kind of conversation that doesn’t happen in mixed company? Like maybe it’s something they would talk about with other veterans…but never in a group setting. |
