And H is now positive. A week out from DD2's. DD1 is still negative though. FX she stays that way. That is the worst. Hopefully DD1 can stay COVID-free

You guys, this is such a racket. My doctor has spent some time researching the best way for me to get the Novavax vaccine (which she fully supports and agrees I should get) and she just called to say my best bet is to get it out of state since when they check the state health department records for prior shots since I won't be in it. It shouldn't have to be like this!

Welp in booster side effects, I just had a surprise visit from AF a week early. Probably explains why I’ve been so tired and grumpy the last 2 days.

The doctor tried to tell me that Novavax as a booster would be approved soon, and I see they initiated the EUA last month and she thought it might be available soon, but everything I can find online is availability next year earliest, and that the EUA might not be approved since it's not a new bivalent booster. I'm so confused.

I haven't been mask-free indoors since March 2020 and decided to go to a kindergarten parents coffee thing at a local coffeeshop to meet some parents since I'd just had COVID recently and even then I had to mentally prepare myself for it because it would feel so weird. It turns out it was outdoors, whew!

It turns out it was outdoors, whew! We went to a GS information meeting last night. It was in a large room at DD’s school with very few people, so I was willing to go unmasked. When we got inside, she immediately looked up at me and demanded her mask because we were indoors. So then I felt guilty and put mine on too.

We had back to school night last night, and while I wore mine in the auditorium with 50 people during the PTA meeting, when I got in to the classroom, it was 7 total people (and I'm married to one of them), and we were able to sit socially distanced (Also doors and windows open, per the school COVID policies) I took my mask off, and it felt very weird.

Hello knowledgeable pals. I have a booster appointment tomorrow finally but they ran out of Moderna (that’s what my other shots were) but they have Pfizer. Is there a big difference in efficacy or anything or should I just go for it?

Is there a big difference in efficacy or anything or should I just go for it? I purposely switched to moderna since I've only had Pfizer. I know for original boosters there was some added protection by mixing brands...I'm not sure if that's also the case for the new ones, but I'd feel comfortable getting it.

Is there a big difference in efficacy or anything or should I just go for it? My understanding is they don’t really know yet, because they only have mouse data, not human data. I know that, on the one hand, sometimes Moderna has been recommended because it’s a higher dose (but not sure this booster is higher dose), but on the other, sometimes mixing has been recommended (but again, not sure that applies to this booster). I think you’re basically fine either way. In this post, YLE says, “So, my official recommendation is to just get the vaccine that is most easily accessible.” yourlocalepidemiologist.substack.com/p/considerations-for-your-fall-booster

It took 40 minutes of waiting, but I got my booster today. My vaccine card says I got my last booster in October. My arm is already sore. I'm hoping that's as bad as it gets, but if not, it'll be a lazy Saturday.

I was finally able to schedule my bivalent booster for Monday. I’ll be just shy of 90 days from my positive and about a year out from my last booster. I’ll be 33wks so I feel like that’s a decent time to help baby get fullest effect possible from my vaccine, esp in case he pops out sooner than his due date. Does anyone have any info about how close to delivery getting the vax would be best? All I’ve found is “get it whenever you can” and that’s not super helpful.
DH is considering getting his closer to baby’s due date but my hospital only has a limited number and are only scheduling for next week so I decided after trying to get one through my pcp that still is unable to find me a time and location, I’m just getting it asap. I guess DH will do whatever he wants.
DS is literally the only kid in his class that is wearing a mask. Yesterday he asked me if he could not, I told him I’d talk to DH about it and we agreed if he didnt want to, he didn’t have to anymore. I did talk to DS about how closer to when the baby comes we may need to put them back on to protect the baby, and he agreed, so I’m hopeful he may put it back on but DH tells me to not hold my breath. We will still mask in stores and crowded places etc but I think he’s allowed a mask break since he’s vax’d and has had it. I’ll probably hate myself for this when we get infected again.

I think I'm going to wait until Wednesday 10/5 to get my booster. It's CD 2 and I've had two exactly 28 day cycles. With both my second shot and booster I got them right around this time and ovulated a week later than usual. Which normally I wouldn't care about. We have a beach trip 10/13-18 though. So if get it the Wednesday before my period should start by the 7th and be over by the trip. I had my period our whole beach trip in June so I feel like I deserve one without it 🙃

I got my booster yesterday and it's kicking my ass today. I only had a very very slight soreness in my arm if I raised it yesterday, but today it aches like crazy including under my arm in my lymph nodes. Headaches, joint pain and boob pain* round out my main complaints. I'm glad I didn't go for the flu shot at the same time, clearly my body has enough to deal with with this vax.
*I'm still nursing the toddler before naps and bedtime so I'm guessing it's due to that?

I'm sitting on the post-vax discomfort bench with you. Super achy arm/neck/head. All I want to do is lay down and sleep but my kids are introducing me to all their various rocks in their collection and telling me about their properties.

I just got my booster 20 minutes ago and my arm is already starting to get sore. That bodes well :sarcasm:. The covid vaccine always kicks my ass, so I expect this to suck for the next 36 hours.
And I went ahead and got my flu shot, too. 😬 I have never had a bad reaction to it, but if I was going to feel like shit after it, might as well do it all at once and only have to feel like crap one time.

My arm is sore...but nothing like shot 3. That was intense and lasted several days. I did wake up feeling crappy and lethargic. I took a 2 hour nap...still feel tired-ish but that's about all. I'm 18 hours out at this point.

I had a sore arm almost immediately and the following day I had a bad headache.
I wasn’t sure if it was the booster (and still am not sure) because I am a chronic headache sufferer so bad headaches are not uncommon for me in general. Timing was suspicious so likely booster related.
I also got my flu shot.
I elected to get one shot in each arm. Flu shot arm hardly got sore (as per usual, I don’t tend to react much to the flu shot)
H got his flu and covid booster yesterday. He’s a bit over dramatic about all things but admitted this one wasn’t as bad for him as the other boosters. He said he was sort of achy and tired, and ended up taking a nap today but already is feeling better.

Well, I did not escape the same after effects of the covid shot. I was hoping I could after the reports here, but apparently my immune system kicks into overdrive every time. I'm super sore, nauseous, and exhausted.
But, worth it to avoid covid.

Was anyones cycle messed up by Covid? I was supposed to get my period on Saturday but tested positive for Covid earlier in the week. It always comes like clockwork because I’m on birth control pills but it has not come yet. Almost a zero chance that I’d be pregnant.

DH went to a CVS to get his booster. He forgot his vaccine card, which had never been an issue before. The pharmacist wouldn’t give him a shot (his phone had died and I tried looking it up on the VDH website but the website was down) without proof of his prior vaccines, and she wouldn’t look up his info, so he came home without a shot. So that was a pile of poop.
