I also truly cannot get over how enormous Vhagar is. The dragons really are the shit. Every single episode I'm like, "What do they eat? How big are their poops?" We need ANSWERS!!!!

Well, it was goats in GOT, right? & those are like a chihuahua vs. a great dane, so I'm guessing like horses. And so big. Like literal elephant sized, not like the size of an elephant's poop, but like the size of an actual elephant.

I really dislike both Aemond and Aegon. They're like more entitled, but dumber versions of Joffery. I don’t think Aemond is dumb at all. I think he’s going to be Rhaenyra and Daemon’s biggest problem. True, he's not. I just really dislike him.

The second the body was in the fireplace I knew Laenor was free! I also liked them physically lining up against each other at the end. This was my favorite episode so far although I agree it was still rushed. I squealed out loud at the Laenor is alive reveal. The literally taking sides visual after the Alicent and Rhae confrontation was a very powerful moment. It was this episode that sold MH on this show, although I was on board for a lot longer. I also agree things were rushed (I wanted to see Laenor and Rhae's earlier years, Laena and Daemon's earlier years, Rhae and Hot Harwin etc.) but I'm still loving the show. This was the strongest episode thus far. On a less positive note, while I love Emma's acting, she and Matt have zero chemistry while he and Milly had tons. Aemond is an asshole and I'm sad for Rhaena that she wasn't allowed to have a moment to properly mourn for her mother when that sniveling little shit bonded with Vhagar. I guess there's no accounting for taste with dragons, although I feel like Drogon would never. I can't stand any of Alicent's creepy offspring. Just a heads up, Emma D’Arcy uses they/them pronouns and identifies as non-binary. And I thought the wedding scene was the first chance for us to really see romantic chemistry between them - everything before then felt (intentionally) complicated and very transactional.

Again, I must ask. What the fuck is Alicent’s problem. She is like a low rent Cersei and I’m not loving it. I think she's pissy because she's married to an old man who is literally rotting away, a man she was somewhat forced into seducing by her own father and meanwhile, her former BFF is getting to fuck hot age-appropriate men (Criston, Harwin), having kids with second said hottie, and it's hand-waved. But any shred of sympathy I had for her shriveled up when she wanted to take Jace's eye as revenge for Aemond, who fucked around and found out. Also, for all her faults, Cersei actually appeared to love her children where Alicent just sees them as a means to end and doesn't even appear to like them unless she can leverage them against her enemies in some way. This is my point - I understand like intellectually why Alicent might be pissy. She was used by her dad, her kids should inherit the throne except that her old gross husband has decided to buck tradition. There is a lot of meat in there… Except it doesn’t seem to fit. She never really shows a shred of like ambition or cunning like Cersei. I don’t get the same feeling of devotion or even care for her kids that Cersei - who was far more heinous in action - was able to show in a single moment of screen time. All of Alicents motivation seems like she is mad because Rhaenyra gets to fuck someone hotter and lie about it? What the fuck. It doesn’t land - it seems petty and stupid. I don’t think it’s necessarily the actress or her acting. I think it feels lazy in writing and like they didn’t really even give her a second thought. She feels like a silly one dimensional villain and I don’t like that.

Also, if you aren’t ambitious Alicent or you feel like you’ve been used and tossed aside, maybe get a little mad at your dad? Like her whining about wanting him back to be on her side? How is it your side if he walked you into something you don’t want to do.
She needs to be a better more complicated bad guy at this point if she wants me to care. Joffrey made more sense as a villain. She’s a weak link in the show and it makes me angry every week.

Well, in the beginning Rhae and Allison (not correcting either name) had some romantic tension of their own. Maybe Allison feels R betrayed her that way. Her actually being a lesbian is the only reason I can think of not to bang Ser Cole too

How the hell does everyone remember every character’s name already? Holy shit. My husband and I watch with closed caption, which means we can actually read the names, and we are still like older sister with white hair, guy with limp watching Alicent’s brother, guy married to lady that should have inherited the throne whose cousin is now king. Damn.

junch817 A few I remember but I mostly pull up the cast list with headshots to help. I remember faces more than names.

Did Alicent really interpret Viserys words as him actually wanting their Aegon on the throne or is she just running with it? To have a war over miscommunication like this is maddening.
Viserys lasts words being “my love” because he was liking thinking of/seeing Aemma was sweet.
Nyra saying she’ll return on dragon back was sad because she will, but it will be because they’re at war.

I actually enjoyed Alicent this episode. She seemed genuinely touched by Nyras toast to her. She’s disgusted with Aegon and her affirming words to Dyana were nice to see on screen. I thought she might kill her but I’m glad she didn’t.

I thought she might kill her but I’m glad she didn’t. I enjoyed her too. She was so genuinely kind to Dyana, and I also thought she might snap her neck. I felt she was really nuanced in this episode and I liked it.

I really liked this episode for all the reasons people have shared!
My only quibble is that the aging of different characters is so all over the place that it's hard for me to track the time jumps.
Viserys is 50 years older (I'm just going with the illness aged him) and Daemon and Rhaenys haven't aged a day. Aemond looks 35 and Jace and Luke look 13 and 17 and in the recap after the show, they're also supposed to be between 17-21.

Also, am I right that Viserys and Alicent married their daughter to Aegon (her brother)? I felt like that's what was happening but wasn't 100% sure.

I kind of liked the twist of Alicent misunderstanding what Viserys was talking about when he thought he was talking to Rhaenyra. It mirrors my own confusion when everyone has one of six names, lol.

It was so hard watching Viserys look so terrible. I also went from not liking Daemon to really liking him. I guess if there's one thing, he sure is loyal to those he loves. It was a nice moment to see him help V up to the throne then pick up his crown. I read on twitter, that the crown wasn't supposed to fall off, it just happened during filming and they went with it.

The other thing I was wondering about is how Littlefinger got his hands on a dagger that was owned by the Targaryens and is so important. In GOT, it seemed like a somewhat rare but not super big-deal Valyrian steel dagger. Unless there was something I missed in GOT about it?

So it's somewhere in the 24ish year range since the first episode, yet after the time jump when we got new Rhaenerya and Alicent, none of the other adults aged.
