starbuck that sounds so scary. Are you feeling any better? After spending all day in bed, half of it napping, I feel like maybe I am starting to get a little better. My heart is doing better today, too. I never hit 130 BPM just standing around. I capped out at 120 standing around lolsob

starbuck my dad has been having heart rate escalation stuff, and his doctor has given him vagus nerve things to do to calm it - one is sticking your face in a bowl of ice water, but there are several other things like breathing through a straw, that might help calm your heart rate down. He was given many drugs to help fix it before they gave him this common sense solution, so I thought I would pass it on incase your doctors haven't mentioned. Also, sorry about Covid. thank you!!! I so appreciate these recommendations.

N has had some nasal congestion and a minor cough all week, no fever. I've been testing him daily and nothing, and yesterday I started feeling crappy. Thus far my tests are also negative. So maybe it's just a summer cold? *crosses fingers* I mean, N just had it in June so unlikely he has it (unless he didn't catch this variant). Weāve had a summer cold moving through our family for the past two weeks. Weāve all tested negative through the whole thing and weāve gone through a lot of tests at this point, so Iām fairly sure it really is just a cold. Itās been one day of feeling really sick (no fever, but lots of fatigue), a couple days of sniffles, and a couple days of coughing for all of us.

The twins have one week left in preschool. And the place is basically a covid hotspot right now. Iāve gotten 12 emails since the 11th (technically 24 emails since I get each one twice because of the twins) they changed their policies finally so they donāt shut entire classrooms anymore otherwise they whole building would be shut down at this point
Next week we finally get the twins their first shot. Living in the middle of nowhere with pharmacists not willing to vaccinate squirmy unhappy kids makes it tough š¤Ŗ

Looking for opinions here-
Got my kids the booster today. My 8 year old (whoās never had a reaction to anything) immediately felt dizzy/lightheaded and then nauseous for a bit. He says he fine now, and basically said he felt fine about 10 minutes later (shot was about 45 minutes ago).
Anyone have this happen with their kids and then fine after? Should I be worried about a later reaction? He has a drop off party this afternoon and Iām stressing about leaving him with a stranger.

I felt like an idiot but she said itās a totally normal reaction and not to worry about it. They observed me for 15 mins and said after that I was good to go. Iād definitely be a worried mess myself for my kid but know itās not something to ālogicallyā worry about. Not that that matters when itās your kid.

That is helpful to know you were fine afterwards. I have severe medical anxiety about the kids so itās hard not to spiral. He really does seem fine though. Said he just super hungry so heās about to have lunch and weāll see how that goes.

My sonās best friendās sister (16) had a very similar reaction to her first shot. She was perfectly fine 10 minutes later and the whole time between shot 1 and shot 2. We happened to make my sonās shot 2 appointment at the same clinic and the same time she got her 2nd shot. No adverse reaction whatsoever. We talked about AP tests and driving tests until our 15 minute wait was over.

Happy for them but also annoyed that we will still be sitting around waiting for the BA.4/5 version as school starts up.

I was holding off on getting my younger two boosted because I kept hoping the updated version would be available before school starts. So much for that. Scheduled on Aug 23 and crossing everything it's enough protection for whatever hits in fall.

We got the twins their first doses today. (Iāll be forever mad about everything to do with the littles during the pandemic)
One twin handled it exactly as I was expecting (he cried the entire time from the second we entered the building to the second we left lol)
The other twin handled it like a champ and shocked me so š¤·š»āāļø
Considering all medical appointments are hot messes for them I will gratefully accept the tiny wins lol

Happy for them but also annoyed that we will still be sitting around waiting for the BA.4/5 version as school starts up. I read an NYT article yesterday that said the UK version is focused on original omicron, while the US version is focused on BA.5, and thatās why ours is taking longer. I was happy to see that ours will be focused on more recent strains. But really hope it comes soon!!

Good job guys. 'Dr. Rochelle P. Walensky, the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, on Wednesday delivered a sweeping rebuke of her agencyās handling of the coronavirus pandemic, saying it had failed to respond quickly enough and needed to be overhauled. In a meeting with senior staff, Dr. Walensky outlined in broad terms a plan to reorganize the agencyās structure to prioritize public health needs and efforts to curb continuing outbreaks, and to put less emphasis on publication of scientific papers about rare diseases. The steps announced on Wednesday grew out of anĀ external reviewĀ Dr. Walensky had ordered in April, after months ofĀ scathing criticism of the C.D.C.ās responseĀ to the pandemic. Its public messages on masking and other mitigation measures were sometimesĀ so confusingĀ orĀ abruptly modifiedĀ that they seemed more like internal drafts than carefully considered proclamations. The public guidance has been āconfusing and overwhelming,ā according to a briefing document provided by the agency.' Walensky, Citing Botched Pandemic Response, Calls for C.D.C. Reorganization nyti.ms/3Qy849o

Iām getting DS (almost 6) his booster tomorrow. Heās never given me problems with shots until recently - his first Pfizer shot hurt going in (he says) so he freaked out at the second dose and H and I had to hold him down. At least that was at a childrenās clinic where they were totally cool about it. We warned him that heās getting a booster tomorrow and he instantly started sobbing. He seemed better after I said he could look at my phone while the shot is going in, and get a donut after (the pharmacy is in a grocery store). I hope heās not a total mess, and that whoever giving the shot is okay with kids. If anyone has any tips Iām all ears š¤£

My kiddo said the same thing about the first shot, that it hurt going in, but said the booster felt like nothing.
