I feel like most nine year olds know how to spell "are" and "house." I don't want to be mean if the kid really doesn't, but it just feels...off. This is where I'm at. When Iwas 9, I had to write research papers (short ones, but still, better writing was expected). This is more like a 6 or 7 year old to me.

I call bullshit on the letter. Someone tried way too hard to impersonate an elementary student.

The fact the kid can't write "my name IS dylan" but he can launch into "but everybody calls me pickle" is suspect in my book. I need to know what is scribbled out at the end of that sentence.

Pickle, if you're real, I love your nickname. KOKO bud.

It very well could be real, which is why I feel gross examining it and picking on the spelling. The last 8 months have apparently broken me.

The problem is that this administration has created an honesty crisis and we can't trust anything they say. To the extent that we are compelled to examine a child's spelling. IDK, I feel icky about the whole thing. I'm going to give Pickle the benefit of the doubt and assume that he is real and leave his spelling alone bc he's a defenseless kid.

Twitter has also noted that Dylan Pickles is the smallest baby from Rugrats. Probably irrelevant.

I taught some third graders who started the year writing like this, so I could see a 9 year old boy who struggles writing this. And if it was a class assignment, I'm mailing all letters in a large envelope because no one has the time to fold all of it.
Where I feel icky is the thought I had that if he really did have a MAGA themed birthday, I doubt his parents hold education and doing your best work as high values.

Creating a fake letter by Dylan Pickles would be one of the most benign things this administration has done so far. So, it wouldn't surprise me.

I lost the Tweet, but is "mail from constituents" going to be an ongoing thing at press briefings?

Pickles has a tough row to hoe, of that we can be sure. He's behind for a 9 year old and has shit for political insight.

Not every 9 year old writes like a typically developing 9 year old. Let's not stoop to their level insulting the kid (if it's real, I'm team trust nothing from this white house) for not having age level writing skills.
(I have all of the feels today about "ages" and shit for kids, having had my 3 y.o. describe my 5 y.o.'s day in the 2/3 y.o. classroom, so I should probably go back to my wine and STFU)

I'm sorry if you were hurt by that kitchen. I think everyone is just aghast at the fact that the WH press briefing started with a propaganda-y letter from a kid praising the president.

Nah, I'm just projecting my out of context baggage. There is nothing that surprises me from this white house. Doubling down on children as part of the propaganda machine? Totes normal.

Eh. I have a nine year old. While her penmanship and spelling are exceptional, that's a pretty typical piece of writing I would see from her classmates. I've actually seen worse when helping grade high school papers.

Is he seriously calling out the chief of staff for leaking his financial disclosure forms on Twitter?
What is happening.

Let me guess? Conflicts of interest? I hate them all. I almost miss Dick Cheney. ETA: I guess I did miss the point. But anyway, I almost miss Dick Cheney.

I don't get why he tagged Reince in it. And are his disclosure forms sealed? I feel like he's saying Reince leaked it. That's the only interpretation I can come up with. But that's just insane, so I don't know what to think. It is currently not available to the public but it will be soon, just like every other WH official. So... Seems like a huge overreaction.
