So I have 0 kids, so maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about. And maybe I'm a terrible person. But:
1) why is the date written by someone else?
2) to me, this reads much younger than 9. I give a pass on the penmanship, but the spelling and word choices seem younger.
3) As Twitter noted, no creases, so this wasn't mailed in a standard envelope.

I only have three kids and a background in early childhood education, plus several years' experience teaching prek-kindergarten-first grade, so obviously you should ignore my opinion, but this reads more like what a 6 or 7 year old would write. My oldest wouldn't have made those types of spelling errors in first grade, much less 4th. HOWEVER, not all children have the same areas of academic strength and not all educational systems are the same so it could simply be that this is an impressively engaged 9 year old who happens to not excel in spelling. And I would never criticize a kid for his spelling errors. I just mean that I can understand why someone might question the validity of this particular letter.

The fact the kid can't write "my name IS dylan" but he can launch into "but everybody calls me pickle" is suspect in my book.
