I finished crying in h mart. That was a rough read. We lost my MIL at 65 to cancer. Reading her perspective as a biracial Asian American kid hit hard. I’m glad I read it but ouch.

I just finished The Last Green Valley, by Mark Sullivan, this morning. Oh my gosh. It was SO good. I haven't been stunned like that by a book in a while. I couldn't put it down. I was using the Whispersync between Audible and Kindle, so I just kept listening and reading whenever I got a chance. Highly recommend.
I started the Paris Apartment on audio and I have very low expectations, haha.

When I was at the library earlier I asked about Verity and all their copies are out. So I put a hold on it (first time I've ever done that). I'm excited! All the talk about it here has me intrigued In the meantime I just started The Lying Club by Annie Ward the hold function is so thrilling and trouble.

I just had 7 audiobooks come in at once on Libby. I'm going to have to do some shuffling around. I'm so glad you can delay them if needed.

Ooh ooh ooh, I was just on Amazon looking for something to read at night that’s not Dracula, and I saw there’s a new Fredrik Backman coming out- The Winners, third in theBeartown series. Not available yet and I couldn’t see a date, but I’m very excited!

DD is reading The Summer I turned pretty and loves it. The characters are 16 so probably slighlty to old for her, but I don't care she gets so excited to read it again.

It gets pretty heavy so maybe check in with her and see how she’s feeling as she progresses. Honestly seems right up your alley, too.

I should do a reread It has been a good conversation piece in the morning when we go to school. DD has been reading the Alice series right now. It also deals with some mature topics but she’s been loving it. First book is The Agony of Alice. There are 12 in the junior high series and DD devoured them all.

I've read 4 books so far for April. Don't Look for Me by Wendy Walker was a great thriller that kept me guessing -4.5 stars So We Meet Again by Suzanne Park - 3 stars. This was recommended to me as an enemies to lovers romance which I'm a big fan of but I would call this book that. More contemporary fiction with a romance subplot. Which was disappointing because I've been in the mood for a good romance book. I really enjoyed the mother/daughter relationship Finlay Donovan Knocks 'Em Dead - 3.5 stars. This was fun just like the first book. Obviously completely over the top and unbelievable. I enjoyed it but not quite as much as the first book. I'm glad to see it looks like there will be another book. They Never Learn by Layne Fargo - 3.5 stars. This was hyped way up on booktok and it didn't live up go that for me but it was pretty good. Who doesn't love a good "shitty men getting what they deserve" story? I'm working on Upgrade by Blake Crouch which I got from netgalley. I'm about halfway through and loving it so far. I want to stay up all night and read but I'm sick so I need to get some sleep, lol. Also started The Kaiju Preservation Society by John Scalzi and The Appeal by Janice Hallett, both of which I'm really excited for. My hold for the novella Under One Roof by Ali Hazelwood (The Love Hypothesis) audio just came in so I'll probably knock that out tomorrow. A lot of good books came out today so I added a bunch to my holds list. A lot of them only have a 2 week wait so I may have a lot come in all at once. I’ve been struggling to get into a book this last week or so. Last night I grabbed Don’t Look For Me on Libby based on your post and stayed up too late reading last night. About to dive back in soon!

I got Dave Grohl’s book in on Libby yesterday. I had delayed it a couple of time to catch up on what I already had checked out. I’m enjoying it so far! It’s the only book I have checked out…at the moment 🤣

My neighbor sent me a video of some librarians sharing a book they wish they could reread for the first time, and I added some of them to my list. I am just starting More Than This by Patrick Ness. The synopsis really doesn’t say too much because it would give too much away, so I’m interested to see how this goes.

I just finished Don’t Look For Me. I really liked it! Definitely was surprised by a few of the twists. {Spoiler} I had to stop reading it last night because Alice was freaking me out. I know she’s just a kid, but she was creepy. Especially when she and Molly woke up with Mick in the bed and Alice was like “This is the start of the end”

Especially when she and Molly woke up with Mick in the bed and Alice was like “This is the start of the end” I read this maybe a year ago so it has been awhile. But I found everything about the little girl to be very upsetting. She was so clearly messed up and I thought the lead character handled it really poorly. Like, she’s a child and she’s been abused but the lead treated her as an extension of the abuser. I get she’s super creepy but maybe don’t agree to see her afterwards? It was just all very weird!

The Last Unicorn: a search for one of the earth’s rarest creatures, 3 stars. It was an overly detailed account of trekking though the jungles of Laos to search for saola and the politics of conservation. It was interesting to a point but needed to be shorter. I don’t care about everyone’s shirt color, William. Just talk about nature.
H joked that I should just read Wikipedia since it’s straight facts 😂

I've been reading a lot of #basic crime thrillers like from Karin Slaughter and Ruth Ware. I was just thinking about doing something different next. I really like history and sciencey non fiction. Any suggestions? I've read Stiff and The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks and loved both.

It’s right up your germ-loving alley! (I haven’t read it yet so hopefully it’s not terrible.) ETA removed Dr because maybe she’s not actually a doctor? I don’t know why I thought she was.
