So far this month, I’ve read AC’s And Then There We’re None (good, but not my favorite AC) and The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michele Richardson (3.5 stars). I’m currently devouring Death on the Nile with plans to watch the films once I’ve finished. So far, I’m loving it! And Then There Were None was my gateway AC! It will always hold a soft spot in my heart but it isn't one of my favorites. N or M?, The Big Four, and The Seven Dials Mystery all stuck out to me. I tend to prefer Poirot to Marple, but I have a lot of love for both We watched Death on the Nile this weekend and I thought it was pretty good. It had been years since I read the book and it took me about 40 minutes to remember "whodunnit". I think even H was interested even though it isn't his normal genre

I finished The Other Black Girl by Zakiya Dalila Harris and meh. I gave it 2 stars.
Some decent commentary on race but it was lost in a poorly fleshed out story.
It took reading spoilers online to understand what the heck happened in the end.

I liked it at first but then it just started speeding up and falling apart, story-wise.

I finished “They’ll Never Catch Us” recently - I went into not sure if I would like it but I ended up loving it! Recommend it!

I finished If the Shoe Fits today, it was super cute. I’m not into reality shows at all, or fashion, but I enjoyed the plus-size heroine and I loved the subversion of the Cinderella story. So much nicer to have the step family be lovely and supportive rather than evil. The next one in this series is a Beauty and the Beast reimagining by Jasmine Guillory, who I enjoy, so I’m looking forward to it.

I finished The Nothing Man last night and really enjoyed it. I liked the story within a story format and really enjoyed the serial killer point of view. It made me wonder how the Golden State killer felt reading about himself.

I had to sort through some thoughts haha. It was just different. I dont know how to explain it I guess. It was weird starting the book because the characters are just so selfish and self absorbed. I couldnt relate to them but I eased into it once I got more into the book. I definitely liked it. The overall theme was how money and status can change you and make people seem beneath you and unimportant.

I stayed up late to finish Death on the Nile and really enjoyed the ending. I agree with others that I especially enjoy the Poirot novels where he is traveling. Hopefully my ILs are up for watching at least one of the films while they are visiting this weekend!
I have two books that just came in through Libby to read this weekend. Alyssa Cole’s A Prince on Paper and Lisa Wingate’s The Prayer Box. My next book club read is The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, which I’m quite excited for. But our meeting isn’t for another month, so I’ll wait to start it so that it is fresh in my mind.

I’m just finishing up The Good Nurse **shivers** I was looking at the book on Amazon and noticed a Netflix sticker - I guess they made a movie, starring Eddie Redmayne and Jessica Chastain, and it will be released this year at some point.

Is this based on a true story? Just want to be sure I am looking at the right book.

I'm making time to read again.
I just finished Then She Was Gone, which I had apparently already read, but I was halfway through when i finally realized it and I couldn't just toss it aside unfinished. Then I started Where the Crawdads Sing and I've got just 100 pages left of it. I'm really enjoying it, but then I watched the trailer for the movie coming out in July and the characters didn't match my mental images, so I'm trying to work that out. LOL

Kya (I can't remember how she spelled the main characters name) was too clean and polished in the movie trailer. It wasn't my favorite book, so I don't know if I'll watch the movie.

I listened to Under One Roof yesterday and I really enjoyed it. Much better than the first novella I read in the series. The 'spicy' scene was not her best though. I liked the characters and would have enjoyed a full length novel with them. I'm looking forward to the third one which just came out but I've got a 'several month' wait on Libbym
I finished my ARC of Upgrade and I loved it! It was definitely different than Dark Matter and Recursion but I still thought it was a great read.
I listened to The Lazy Genius Way and thought it had some good tips. Her stuff reminded me a lot of Domestic Blisters on tiktok.
I've had 3 more eARCs come through on Netgalley. Dream On by Angie Hockman (who wrote Shipped), Built to Last by Erin Hahn, and Stay Awake by Megan Goldin. I'm excited for these but want to finish the books I already have from Libby first.
I was able to get Survival of the Thickest audiobook again so I'm working on that. I also got Meet Me in the Margins from Hoopla so I'll start that soon. Still working on Kaiju Preservation Society and The Appeal.

I read The Night Shift by Alex Finlay today and really enjoyed it. There were a couple annoying parts but for the most part it was a solid thriller.

I just finished 1000 Years of Joys and Sorrows: A Memoir by Ai Weiwei, and it is one of the best books I've ever read.
He is such a fascinating artist (and human), and I recommend everyone learn about him.
I started Verity last night. We shall see how that one pans out!

ETA Also really hoping they make this into a movie. This is has late 90s/early 2000s romcom written all over it.

March was good, mostly because I spent a lot of time reading on the beach during Spring Break. I set a goal of 50 books this year and I'm already at 22, so I may need to up that a bit.
My March list was:
Rock, Paper, Scissors Smart Growth: How to Grow Your People to Grow Your Company (won in a podcast giveaway) Personality Isn't Permanent: Break Free from Self-Limiting Beliefs and Rewrite Your Story The Rose Code The Lincoln Highway People we Meet on Vacation Who is Maud Dixon Anxious People
I currently have Crying in H-Mart, Fair Play, and Nothing to See Here on my Kindle, with the Lost Apothecary and Beach Read coming off hold in the next week or so.

When I was at the library earlier I asked about Verity and all their copies are out. So I put a hold on it (first time I've ever done that). I'm excited! All the talk about it here has me intrigued
In the meantime I just started The Lying Club by Annie Ward
