That's where I ordered from earlier today. Now I'm just waiting on the email saying they actually shipped. I placed on order with them on 12/21, and the status has been saying “shipping label created” since 12/22 but they haven’t actually shipped yet. Because they're all going to NY first. Those are the ones they've been handing out like candy on Halloween here. We've gotten five free boxes so far from the county or schools. I assume they're likely prioritizing the mass orders for states or health systems over individual orders first.

These are the rapids that the county has been distributing here. They are in stock and also approved by the FDA under EUA. ihealthlabs.com/Now those really do look like pregnancy tests.

Yes...very tantrum. Much scream. We're about 5 months away from 4 and we seem to be moving past it. But the early parts of 3 were SO HARD. Oh don't worry, four fucking sucks too.

Just as a positive (maybe poor word choice here) anecdote for those of you exposed.
My H tested positive on Monday. On Sunday we drove about 4 hours home together with DS then he sept with DS Sunday night.
He’s been isolated from us since his positive and DS and I are still negative with no symptoms.
Based on two of my brothers also being positive we’re pretty sure it came from my family Christmas celebration Thursday night. But my other brother, SIL, nieces, mom and her H are all negative also and we saw Hs family the next two nights and they are all also symptom free and negative at 5 days post exposure.
Not to say don’t quarantine/take it seriously - but I thought this level of exposure meant an automatic positive and that still doesn’t seem to be the case.

Ok so we saw SS1 on Christmas, his symptoms started Tuesday, we haven’t seen him since, he finally got tested and was positive today, so we are 5.5 days post exposure with no symptoms. Do we quarantine for the full 10 days with no symptoms? Not that we have many plans, but was wondering if we should avoid even going to stores. We went today before we confirmed that SS1 was positive (we masked). ETA: I ask because I’m trying to figure out if there is any possibility that he caught it after we saw him. He was with friends the next day. Are you boosted? I do not think he was contagious when you saw him. What time on Tuesday did his symptoms start?

I would mask if you need to go out and mask around others. Of course not your man etc.

It’s contagiousness and incubation period are faster than previous variants.

Our district has no idea when and how many tests they will get. My county had enough for thought to buy before kids went home for winter break. So they gave one per adult in every household in the county (so we got two), we got two more from DD1 school, and my district tossed everyone one when they had extras after giving each kid one. And apparently they've ordered more. I feel extremely fortunate, because we had been buying off the shelf too so we have plenty. But we've been testing every couple of days for the last two weeks and are burning through them.

My dad was diagnosed last night and my mom’s test is pending. We saw them last on Christmas Eve, so I’m not concerned for us. I think he got it when he went to the VA hospital for tests on Monday. He will be getting monoclonal antibodies today (they were all out and are getting a shipment today and he was able to snag a spot).
Both of them are vaxxed and boosted, so hopefully he won’t be bad. My mom took him in because he had a slight fever and was more disoriented than normal (he has Alzheimer’s). He also had a stuffy nose and slight cough. She thought he was dehydrated (he refuses to drink) - nope Covid.

DH tested positive on 12/26. He received his antibodies on 12/28. He’s been in the basement for 6 days as of today. When can he come upstairs again? I’m vaxxed and boosted. He and all the kids are vaxxed too. I’m so tired of parenting 3 quarantined kids inside alone. It’s rained almost every day. We all tested negative, so I don’t want to make a mistake and let him come up too early. The state department said he could end his quarantine after 5 days with no symptoms, but that’s based on the new CDC recommendations, right?
My FIL also has it in a different state. It took him 5 days to test positive after his exposure.

auburn, I think the advice of 5 days only applies if he is asymptomatic.

auburn, I think the advice of 5 days only applies if he is asymptomatic. He says he feels fine. I hear him cough once in a while. His blood pressure is perfect. No fatigue. No fever. Well, maybe cabin fever.

auburn, I think the advice of 5 days only applies if he is asymptomatic. Or if his symptoms are resolving. From the CDC website: “People with COVID-19 should isolate for 5 days and if they are asymptomatic or their symptoms are resolving (without fever for 24 hours), follow that by 5 days of wearing a mask when around others to minimize the risk of infecting people they encounter.” auburn

auburn do you have any rapid tests? I know a lot of epidemiologists (like Michael Mina) are saying if after the 5 days/feeling better they aren’t turning a rapid test positive, that peak contagiousness is over. I know it’s not a perfect answer, but that would personally make me feel a lot better about having him come up, and have him mask until day 10.

Well I have to play covid timeline math. My sister's BF tested positive today, symptoms started yesterday morning. He is vaccinated but not boosted. We saw him Christmas Eve and Christmas morning. He probably wasn't contagious 5 days before symptoms, right? Would we be considered exposed?
My kids and MH haven't been anywhere since Saturday and I have been at work, but masked. DS has a cold but had it prior to Christmas. We tested last week and were negative.

I haven’t been posting on HIH in awhile but just wanted to add my families experience. My sister and her husband just tested positive yesterday on a rapid after being exposed on Christmas Eve at dinner. They tested on a rapid on the 28th and were negative, then started having symptoms yesterday and were immediately very positive on the rapid. They got their booster on Dec 23rd.
My husband thinks he was exposed on the 20th but had no symptoms until the morning of the 25th and tested positive on a rapid. I had symptoms develop on the 26th but didn’t test positive on a rapid until the 28th. I just got my booster on the 20th and my husband has not had his.
So based on my personal family experiences I think it is possible to be 5-6 days out from exposure with no symptoms and still have it.

I’ve seen so much making fun of the CDC for changing to recommendations to make businesses happy. This is what the state department of health told him but she also said it was because of the CDC’s new recommendations. He will definitely mask if he comes up. I’m torn between wanting him back with us and protecting DD in particular since she has one kidney.

auburn, honestly, I'm not sure I'm there yet on being comfortable with the 5 days. I would be fine with limited exposures in a KN95 or KF94. I wouldn't want to wear a mask in my own home 24/7 so I think I'd prefer to mostly still quarantine. Both MH and my middle DD are immune compromised so we're a little more risk adverse.

I would also ask him to wear a mask for five days, even with a negative test, just in case. Other countries Have shortened their quarantine time, but require a negative test. I’m not sure why we’re not doing that.

Maybe he can come up, masked, with the windows open, and the air purifier running, for a little bit, and I’ll make the kids wear masks too. Then, back to the basement he goes. He was around my parents on the 23rd, 24th, and 25th, and I have been terrified and praying constantly. My dad was diagnosed with lung cancer in March, and he’s been doing so well. She is 77, and he is 80. I would never forgive myself. I opened all the windows and ran the air purifier and they have had no symptoms whatsoever and today is day 7. I’m so thankful. My brother and his family were there and they all tested negative too. It’s so weird that he caught it and we didn’t. We have been together almost everywhere we have gone. The only thing he did without us was some Christmas shopping, but we always mask everywhere we go and he wasn’t close to anyone. We did go to a basketball game, and I will forever be mad at myself for that, but it was a big venue and we wore masks the whole time. If he got it there, and we didn’t, that’s so weird.

I'm still not sure he would've been contagious when we saw him because it says you are usually most contagious 2-3 days before symptoms.
Just thinking out loud here.
