My alarm went off to run and I just stayed in bed. I’m still getting over this cold and I feel a lot better, just worn down so I decided I didn’t want to get up. I did do a 15 minute upper body workout with Ben on my break and will go out for a walk on my lunch, weather permitting.

I have lost 2 toenails to half marathons and recently just lost one of the same toenails again due to training. apparently i live the no toenail life. serious question. do you all paint the toe with no toenail? Let it breathe for a while if you can, for optimal healing. But when you need, you can actually buy fake press-on toenails and paint one of those.

I bailed on my 5K yesterday because of rain, I didn't want to risk wiping out with my half two weeks away. I'm still playing a bit with rest days. My long run from yesterday left me pretty sore so I'm trying Monday.

mc03 that’s a good idea to check my stats in a while! What about intuitive eating do you want to focus on?

I’m checking in after kicking October off with a long weekend away in the mountains. It was great fun, but my knees are shot today from all the hiking on rocky, steep terrain. I could tell that my hard work this summer really paid off - I didn’t get winded except during the very steepest parts of the hikes! My glutes are a bit hurty, tho. 🤣
Food this weekend was meh in terms of nutrition, but I didn’t overeat, which I tend to do when traveling.
Today I’m planning to go on an easy walk, ride the exercise bike, and stretch a lot. Hopefully I’ll loosen up a bit. I’m also planning on a little nap.
B - everything bagel with cream cheese, coffee with French vanilla creamer L - pb&j, grapes D - chicken enchiladas E - walk, bike, stretch

Can I join? I am a hot mess of being too heavy and have gotten enough higher than they should be blood pressure readings at various medical appointments to know it’s not a fluke
Goals: Track food (WW) with a focus on reducing carbs and salt intake. Get to the gym for a 30 minute cardio work out at least 3 x a week (this is my hurdle right now-it’s the first thing I throw off the schedule when I am overwhelmed) Drink more water (I have one of those gallon jugs)

trueblue, welcome! When you get overwhelmed remember that the cardio will help you! I have to remind myself all the time when I am stressed to put my shoes on and go run, it really helps. I use a gallon jug thingy as well; it sits in front of me so i remember to keep my mug filled! Good luck.

Minerva, do you have anything that helps with your knees? I've gone to pt in the past but nothing has really stuck. I'm definitely feeling them getting used to the bike. I’ve done two rounds of PT for them with a therapist who was incredibly helpful. The bike actually helps me a lot as long as I start slow and work up to higher intensity and resistance. My PT told me to make sure my knees weren’t pointing inward while riding. She gave me a routine to strengthen my inner quads, hips, and bum with weighted leg extensions, monster walks, clamshells, balance board exercises, and leg presses. Also, stretching my outer quads and rolling out my IT band. I’ve done dry needling in the past, which was helpful but too expensive for me to keep up. In the short term, I’m using a compression sleeve or KT tape to keep the knee in place and tracking correctly. I ice it after exercise and before bed when it is acting up. If it starts really hurting, I take nsaids, but usually try to avoid them. I also sleep with a knee pillow, which makes a surprising large difference in daily pain levels. The orthopedist dx’d me with osteoarthritis and bone spurs and my mom has a history of the same issues. At this point I’m trying to stay active for as long as possible before having to take a surgical approach. 😬

@icedtea, yes. I have only recently felt comfortable to return to the gym so it’s an issue of adjusting my schedule to include that hour. My employer doesn’t particularly care if I take an hour lunch, it’s just balancing it out with needing time for medical appointments (mine or kids) and the like. In addition to the physical health benefits I was a WAH person before it was cool - that trip out of the house a few times a week is great for my mental health.
I know I can always throw a walk around the neighborhood but the co-efficient of drag away from my desk/whatever is so hard to overcome.
Which is 100% why I am where I am. I own every decision and behavior that got me here.

NSV - I was feeling cute last night so I took a selfie. Then I compared it to a picture from February. I like to compare face photos because it’s the progress you don’t see as easily when you look at your face every day. Also I finished my teeth aligners too which is why my smile looks better lol.

I feel like I tried to paint that one before, but the paint comes off after the first shower, so I just leave it. I'm a sneaker kind of person so my feet are only ever exposed to the world on the rare occasion I'm in flip flops. You're in FL though so I totally get that this is probably more of a thing there when it comes to open shoes.

I know it was for me. When that happens, can you take a brisk walk outside or something instead? Even just having that option in the back of your mind might make things less stressful. Yes, it doesn’t have to be gym or nothing

mc03 that’s a good idea to check my stats in a while! What about intuitive eating do you want to focus on? I feel like October usually starts a habit of eating lots of extra sweets and treats. I love this time of year. After years of dieting I’m done with it and the yo-yo ing weight. I know if I just say… no sweets, that is not going to work. But I want to try to focus on being mindful about my eating. Trying to think, am I really hungry? Avoiding those times where I eat a handful of fun size candy bars without even realizing it. So mindfulness I guess? I would love to lose weight but that’s not my goal. My goal is not to gain any more weight, and to feel good.

Finally caught up! You are all awesome, but special mention to cnf for the finish in awful weather, and everyone who is making their plans for October! I didn't do as much activity-wise this weekend as I usually do, but still ran just under 5k, and hiked about the same distance yesterday, with swims each afternoon (you never know when it will be the last swim of the season!) Got up and did Olivia's 20 minute hip hop run - it was just what I needed today, but I was thinking during it how all the other instructor say "If I go quiet, if you hear me breathing hard..." Olivia was never out of breath. I want to do a Flash 15 this afternoon to catch up, and bedtime yoga since H is playing hockey tonight. I also saw RK is doing a core challenge in October, so looking at that as well. In other words, all over the place and not making real plans yet.

MH and I went for a walk today and it was freezing. After DD gets home from daycare we plan to take another walk.
I woke up at 3 this morning and couldn’t fall back asleep, so I am dragging a bit today, so I think I can going to run to Costco and get a ready made meal to pop in the oven.

Did a 30 minute DJ ride with Matt W from 10/31/19. I don't know if he was being Cody for Halloween or if he was subbing for Cody, but he was in pink shorts with the Cody tattoos and doing his best impression of Cody, calling everyone boo, and using all of his expressions. I was cracking up. B: Greek yogurt L: chicken wrap, asparagus and brussel sprouts D: chicken stir fry ETA: willow you look great.
