They need to add a twist that any/all advantages are null if shared with any other player...that would make it more interesting! So tired of everyone running their mouths and sharing everything with strangers they are competing against.

tarheelmom, that's interesting, I wouldn't hate it. I was rolling my eyes at Shantel last night arguing with Ricard about trust - he had every right to distrust her in the moment, same as she was not trusting of him. It was incredibly childish. I'm glad for the merge and Erika's advantage. She oughtta use it. I also can't keep cast names straight this season, I have to look some of them up where I didn't have that problem in years past. I don't know if it's because we're not getting enough time with them, as they focus on other crap, or that there are still too many players for me to keep track of.

I like Shan, but I couldn’t believe she asked Liana what her reward was in front of Tiffany. I would have lost some trust in her immediately if I was Liana.
I fully expect Shan and Richard to throw each other under the bus soon, because there is no way they trust each other as much as they used to.
I don’t really care much about any of the people in Luvu because they’ve had almost no air time since they keep winning.
Agree with everyone about the twists. Enough already.

The more I think about the twists/advantages, especially Liana’s knowledge is power deal, I think they’re pretty unfair. First, production makes everyone who finds an idol essentially out themselves at a challenge and then, after giving everyone all the info about who has what, they give away the ability to steal it if you know it…everyone knows it…I don’t like it.

Like this isn’t big brother. They aren’t expecting the unexpected. Survivor has rules.

I agree. It defeats the whole purpose of having those secret advantages and the strategy involved in accounting for them at tribal. It's now just super confusing and they spend so much time on the advantages that I feel like I barely know the people and what they're thinking.

I looked at the Survivor sub on Reddit for awhile, I was curious if they were also tired of the twists and advantages and seems like it’s a big yes
Also the ratings have declined each episode for the first time, I hope they’ll realize they’re messing with the game way too much
Also never thought I would be happy with Jeff being replaced but he’s irking me more and more
Edit: not that he will be replaced, just hypothetical

jenna, I'd love it if next season they went back to the first season, no hidden camp idols, just survive out there with your smarts and effort.

I haven't cared for all the advantages, but I'm actually thrilled for Erica and the hourglass. I would have smashed that thing before Jeff walked away.

Wow this tribal is messy. I agree! Very clear where all of the lines are too among the players. Which I'm sure they were aware of to a degree prior to tribal, but there's no plausible deniability now.

That tribal was hectic. I’m not sorry to see the one ousted tho. Bye bye.
The whole thing with Xander’s idol/fake idol had me entertained!!

That was the most entertaining episode this season. I love that Xander played up still having the idol at tribal, I had said earlier I'd give it to Tiffany knowing the advantages. Hopefully next week will continue to be entertaining.

The "get up and whisper chat" at tribal thing that's been happening the last few seasons is the thing of a producer's dream, right?! Anything can be flipped and paranoia sets in, so the scramble, while anxious-inducing for them, is great for us to watch play out.

I haven't jumped in here yet because you all have had the same thoughts I've had. I've been annoyed by all of the advantages, extra votes, risk a vote, etc. that are frustrating to keep up with. While it was an interesting twist to allow Erika to change history, it also seems crappy that a winning team ends up getting punished for winning. I kinda feel the same about Liana's advantage of just being able to take someone else's idol/advantage by asking. That said, this was the first episode this season that I really enjoyed. I think this is the first time we've been this many weeks in and I don't really have a favorite, but I like Evvie and enjoyed Xander's game play this episode. I'm also pulling for Naseer. Tribal Council was fun and I enjoyed the suspense with the vote. Hopefully the episodes get better from here now that they're merged.
I read that they filmed Season 42 right after this and it's also a shortened season. I'd like to see a more back-to-basics Survivor but am guessing we'll be in for more of the same since they felt they needed to add in twists due to the condensed season. I read an interview with Jeff where he talked about the changes and said Survivor is a monster and future players can't be frustrated because they don't like a twist, they need to adapt or else the monster will devour them because the monster is only getting hungrier.

I’m so glad Evvie didn’t get the boot. I was so nervous with Xander. Props to Tiffany for saying she would do what he wanted because it was his. It truly could have gone either way, but luckily it went the way they wanted (and me too). They are largely outnumbered though.
Liana ended up making a fool out of herself. She should have realized something was up once Xander was being so obvious about the idol. At that point, she knew that HE knew what her power was, and that she could just ask for it and get it. He wouldn’t be that stupid to show it off knowing she would take it from him. I really can’t believe she still asked him. Also, his fake idol looked great!
I liked Xander from the beginning, and I’m glad he hasn’t really disappointed me yet. He has been the muscles of his tribe since day 2/3. He’s staying strong with the Tiff and Evvie.
Evvie definitely lost some credit at tribal with the callout from Deshawn. That was a great move by him.
Shan messed it all up by asking Liana about her power in front of Tiffany last week.
Also, my abs hurt just watching that immunity competition. Yeesh.

I felt like I was FINALLY watching Survivor last night.
I love that Erika smashed the hourglass. Safety vs a potential boot when you know you're on the bottom? An easy decision to make. The looks on the faces of the no longer safe made me LOL.
I had a feeling Ricard would pull off the win. I'll bet he does yoga.
Liana's tunnel vision with getting Xander's idol out when Naseer's is ripe for the taking was her downfall. That and telling Shan about her advantage as Shan has been quite the town crier.
Xander knew it and played her like a violin. Although I was worried that he would give it to Evvie and Liana would guess right. I was literally screaming at my TV: "Give it to TIFFANY!!!!!!" And he DID. Him pulling out the fake idol, with the real parchment was genius. I had to rewind his deadpan reply to Liana asking him if he had the idol, "No...but you can have this fake one" a few times.
I am really liking Xander, Evvie, and Tiffany. Tiffany?!? When did THAT happen? I'm also rooting for Naseer and Erika.
Sydney grated from Day 1 and she lost me entirely with her quoting Brady's eye-roll-inducing line about "you hate me 'cuz you ain't me." Girl, bye. I'm so glad Xander didn't waste his idol on her.

Anything can be flipped and paranoia sets in, so the scramble, while anxious-inducing for them, is great for us to watch play out. I can't stand it. I love back in the day when it was like welp just cast your vote without input from anyone and if it doesn't go your way you suck. Not let's give people 800 chances to flip the script. I was also really happy with Xander's move, I have been cheering for him since the beginning since he's been odd man out in his tribe so I'm glad he has a strong 3 now. Shan is sketch as fuck and I hope Ricard gets her out.

Shan is so messy. I feel like it has to be the lack of food because she seemed so much stronger in the beginning.
In general, they're all kind of a mess right now.

I really dislike Shan. She wants too much to be in charge, but is being horrible to her alliance. Also, why the hell are you people talking about voting out the only person finding you food?

Naseer doesn't seem to be that much of a threat at challenges, but he is such a great survivalist that he seems crucial to have around camp. There are SO MANY people that I would get rid of before him. Also, their objection doesn't seem to be that he is any threat to win at the end. Which is even more of a reason to keep him! He votes however you tell him, brings in food and keeps the fire going, is not so beloved that he's a threat to win at the end, and is not someone who is winning a lot (or any?) of the immunity challenges. Keep him around!
FWIW, I love him and am rooting for him. He is so wholesome and sincere.
Shan seems to be overplaying her hand. I agree with her though that Ricard should not have touched the papaya immediately after returning from a food reward. It was a dick move and I'm not sure why he thought it was OK.

Xander is playing a smart game. He is giving his moves and words a lot of forethought. I think Shan is entertaining and makes great tv, but she has overplayed her hand and everyone got to see it. Naseer and Erika need to start playing their own game or they will wind up as good foot soldiers that make it 3/4 of the way with no shot at the end. I see Ricard going far, he is a little snakey and I dig that.
We haven't seen much of Danny, but I have liked what we have seen. DeShawn is up there for me. Evvie is smart, if she can overcome the numbers disadvantage for the next tribal or two, she could go far. Tiffany was the edgic prediction for the winner, so it is anyone's game, really.
While I do not think that Heather is a good player, I am glad that she got screentime last night. Imagine being gone from your family for 20 months and you all finally sit down to see your season and you don't really show up until after merge. She had 2 confessionals last night, which is as much as she has had the whole season prior to last night.

I feel like Shan is getting a Devens edit and is headed for a big downfall. I thought this before the previews for next week. If I had to pick a winner right now I’d go with Ricard, Xander or Naseer just based on the edit. I think it will definitely be a man based on how adamant Deshawn was to keep Naseer.
