Omg I’m standing in line to pick DS up and I totally forgot today was picture day. I heard a dad ask his kid. Ooof. I try to get him to wear a button down or polo to look nice so we can send them to grandparents but apparently not this year. 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ hah my mom always super girly dolled me up for pictures and i hated it. One of my earliest acts of defiance was to lie to her about what day was picture day in the 4th grade. So i went to school on one day in some ridiculous dress and bow and them actual picture i showed up in my Florida state Seminoles t-shirt, windbreaker and dangle earrings. 🤦😂😋

But last year, DD2 ended up with ketchup on her face in her school photo. Sooo it's a crapshoot.

My mom has one of those frames with spaces for each year's school photo for both my brother and I. Looking at it now, I cringe at my late 80s/early 90s dresses with the huge, white Pilgrim-style collars. Shudder.

Last year my school had the brilliant idea to do picture day on HALLOWEEN!! So my 4th grader carefully picked out her (purple)outfit, took her costume with her for an after school party, and put her Harley Quinn Red/Blue headband on and forgot to take it off. (she wanted a purple background as well). Later in the year they offered the same picture with a 'fun' background, so I also have it with a tropical scene. last years pictures ALMOST top kindergarten where she looks absolutely terrified and constipated at the same time.

Last year I worked the day before and slept late the day of pictures, so I didn’t see my 8 year old the night before or morning of pictures. We get his pictures, he has dried blood in his nostril and a fleck on his nose from a bloody nose he had THE DAY BEFORE his pictures. DH didn’t notice and apparently didn’t tell him to wash his face. He wore a mask until they sat for pictures and no one noticed 🤦♀️. This year pictures are tomorrow, he showered tonight and I’ll give him the once over in the morning.

DH took her to school after lunch (was in afternoon PreK) and didn't have her wash her face. Masks on until right before the photo, and then ketchup face.

Did you see the post about the little boy who refused to take his mask off for the picture? His mom told him to only take it off when he was eating. ❤️

Book rave: if you like a spooky book with lots of twists, and post earthquake San Francisco, try "The Two Mrs Carlyles" I read the whole thing in 2 days.

There’s a monthly reading thread on GD that I participate in, but I’m always willing to talk books. We tried a book club on this board, but there wasn’t much participation.

I had that pesky uterine polyp removed this morning and have basically slept all day. I’m going to use tomorrow to catch up on tv. I came home to really lovely artwork from my DDs. 💕

The GD reading thread is better since it went to monthly. I’ll gladly contribute if someone starts one here. Be forewarned: me and byjove will be discussing regency romance.

Our closing date moved from October 4th to the 13th, which I'm totally fine with. We've done what we can on the weekends, cleaning and organizing wise. We're finishing up this weekend and fingers crossed there are no more snags. It's been a helluva few weeks. I'm tired, BUT we went and looked at cars this past weekend. We put a 2018 fully loaded Hyundai Sonata on hold. It only has 29k miles, so plenty left on the warranty, and is just awesome. I'm downsizing from an SUV, which is what I wanted to do. I'm super excited about how much money it's going to save in gas costs. My AWD 2006 Acura MDX gets like 15 mpg... oof. This gets at least like 30!

There is no place to put this really so it can go here. One of my cases just got petitioned for review of the MN Supreme Court. This is EXTREMELY rare that this happens, and even more rare that the SCT would agree to take the case (I'm guessing they will not in this particular matter). I texted my friend about it and she thought I meant the SCOTUS and I got a good chuckle out of that. No, dear friend, the SCOTUS does not hear child support cases that don't involve constitutional rights. lol.

TW school gun violence
Last spring we had a shooting in a middle school. There were no fatalities Last week another student brought a firearm to the same school. Rather than enact common sense laws the district enacted a no backpack rule. This is what it looks like at the school ( hopefully it works)

Brian Stokes Mitchell is just 😍 Also I really need them to make Ragtime into a movie. Just not by the guy who did Cats.
