FFFC: I've never watched that show. They bake amazing things and there is no fighting/drama (ok, maybe at like a level 1 or 2 occasionally compared to the usual realty TV show at a 12), there is soothing music, and I love the artistic drawings before the baked goods are finished to help you envision it. It's worth watching! Definitely a feel good vibe. My girls are obsessed with watching it with me too. It's now a family affair. I don't think I've ever seen it. Maybe a holiday special? It sounds like something DD would love to watch together. She loves watching shows together while having snuggle time, so this seems perfect.

GBBO is like a friend when you need it. A warm hug. A book with a great HAE.

I also imagine what my desserts would be for each challenge. I really enjoyed the What's in the Lake cake challenge. The winner was definitely my favorite.

DD1 is struggling with reading (just got her progress report today). She's in second grade, and reads at home every night. Any teacher's have any ideas of how I can help her? She was in Title 1 in K but not in 1st. And she's been referred again for this year.

He was virtual all-year last year and needed extra focus on reading and I had no clue how to help. There's an online parent guide that walks you through the lessons step-by-step which I needed. pridereadingprogram.com/pride-program/It's not cheap but I have seen a big difference with DS doing it regularly. (We did it Mon-Thurs over the spring and summer. I've taken a break the last two weeks while he gets acclimated to being in school in-person, but we'll start it back up probably in the next week or so.)

She kind of rushes through her reading sometimes and just looks at the beginning of the word before deciding what it is and moving on.

DD just said “New York City in the 70s looked so cool.”
Me: ...what do you know about New York in the 70s?
DD: like in Newsies

sheilathetank Haven’t seen you and JukEboX around much here lately so just hoping your family is doing well. Thank you for asking. We are good. Juke has been slammed at work and his other teammate put in his 2 weeks so it's just been crazy for him. They also blocked HIH at his work so by the time he can get on its like 10 minutes before bed. Work has been good busy. Lots of fun little projects. I mostly lurk and like. I was sorta able to keep up with today's/yesterday's AE drama and even managed a post or two! I've stepped away from the heavier stuff in life and HIH for my mental health. I was finding it was getting exhausting to try and keep up and post. I have Covid fatigue so fucking bad right now. So most evenings I put my phone down and paint my nails. I have spent an unhealthy amount of money on nail polish and nail art stuff in the last few months. But it brings me joy so fuck it. 🤷♀️ That turned it a lot longer than I expected. Sorry for the dear diary post. It will get better and I'll be on more, but right now I'm just surviving.

sheilathetank I’m glad everyone is doing well! I understand the fatigue and just surviving feelings for sure. Doing what helps your mental health is so important especially now.

She kind of rushes through her reading sometimes and just looks at the beginning of the word before deciding what it is and moving on. Sometimes audio books can help with that because they hear the way things should be read. When reading a book, try taking turns reading a sentence or paragraph. There is also echo, where you read a sentence and she repeats it.

Modern technology is wacky. I just got an earthquake alert about five minutes ago. It was for the Long Beach area and only a 4.9 so we're far enough south that we didn't feel it but it definitely put me back to that week in July of 2019 where we had two fairly decent sized earthquakes in a row, the second being a 7.0 and the largest I've ever felt.

I was on a pier in Ventura for the second one in 2019! It was one of the scariest earthquakes I’ve experienced.

GBBO is pure and lovely.

If any of you need a new show that is even calmer that GBBO I would suggest Cruising the Cut, about a man who buys and fixes up a narrow boat and goes through England’s canal system. It’s half way between GBBO and that channel that just shows a fire burning. Drama is when he recovers his banquette cushions. There are shockingly 4 seasons of this on prime.

We had our first follow up dental appointment for my son who fell and hit his teeth. One of the top teeth had to come out. He did a really great job with the whole procedure and then came home since half his face is numb. He's real excited about the tooth fairy lol

starbuck did your endo biopsies affect when you got your next period? Google is being unhelpful. I developed an infection from the procedure and am almost done with my antibiotics, so I’m guessing that might also do it? I am a mess. I can’t wait for the surgery to remove this thing (one more week!).

They didn't impact my cycles at all, but I think you're right the infection may be to blame here. Not a doc, but that makes perfect sense to me.

Our BOE put a rule in place to limit public comments to 3 mins a person and people (the anti maskers mostly) are so up in arms! But what we’re they supposed to do when the entire public comment section is taken over by the same loud mouth crazies? I also think people don’t have a grasp that yes, BOE meetings are required to be held IN public, but they aren’t meetings OF the public. Like sorry, have a town hall if you have so much to say, don’t take up an hour of the meeting.
