I’m really struggling with being back at work in the office 4 days a week. I miss my babies so much. Having been home with them literally every day for 17 months since they were born because they are covid babies, I developed an intense attachment to them. Being away from them so much of the week has made me really depressed and sad and anxious. Fucking hormones.

Mine aren't newborns, but it was so nice doing breakfast and lunch with my girls (3 & 9) over the past 18+ months. And the night time was more enjoyable because I wasn't doing the mad rush to prep us all for the next day.

Oh willow I’m so sorry. That must be so hard. Is there ANY flexibility to WFH more? Would it even be worth it? I hope things start to get better in whatever way you can get them to.

Thanks ladies. It brought me to a really dark place last night when I was trying to fall asleep and I started panic crying about having to come back to work today. I have been dealing with PPA during all of this too and I think the twins being there to take breaks and spend time with throughout the day has been one of my biggest sources of joy throughout all of this and now that is gone. I realize that it is the reality of a working parent but the circumstances have been so different this last 17 months where I have been able to be a working parent AND spend time with my kids during the day and I didn't realize how much I valued that until the option was gone. I don't know how to shake it either. I'm sitting here at my desk in my office and just feeling on the verge of tears. addymac Our union is fighting back on the WFH policy and our big boss is going to consider a proposal we have for more time WFH but the meeting with our proposal isn't for another 2 weeks. I think we will probably get to WFH 2 days a week which is better than 1 at least.

So many hugs willow. I know you do therapy too, do you have an appt lined up for this week? Do you take meds? Sometimes I find taking a Xanax will help calm me down just enough where my PPA now GAD is just there but not so overwhelming. I can imagine it must be so hard to switch from basically being with them every day - and even on days you were working having them nearby - to nothing all day. It’s really fucking hard. Huge hugs.

addymac I actually had an appt last night but we are doing EMDR work with my past trauma from my late H so that was the focus of the appt. I have weekly appts with my therapist while we do EMDR so I can spend some time in the beginning of the session to talk about current stressors. I'm making good progress with my EMDR trauma therapy though so I also don't want to delay that either. I don't take any medications other than my med cannabis to help me sleep. I have never taken anxiety medication before. I know so many people talk about how much of a difference it makes though. Does it really make you feel better during the day?

Also I want to thank you all again for your supportive words throughout, well, all of ::waves hands around:: this. I know we are all going through so much right now and the collective trauma is just incredible to think about. I sincerely appreciate you all.

Oh willow. Huge hugs. Man I really hate how short therapy sessions are. Mine are once a week and 45/50 min long and I swear I could talk for another hour. It’s so frustrating when you have multiple things you want to address and only so much time. I take zoloft every day. I started on lexapro then cymbalta and now zoloft seems to be working best. The others worked until they weren’t enough, hence the switching. I’ve been on zoloft about a year now. And I have Xanax when I feel so overwhelmed and it calms me down to feel less anxious and stressed out and on edge. Like i still feel but they’re manageable and I can function rather than spiral.

willow, I’m sending so many hugs your way. My SSRI drastically affects how I feel during the day and how well I sleep at night, all for the better. When I’m on the right dose, I feel calm and content and I’m able to cognitively deal with my anxieties, instead of feeling overwhelmed by them and having panic and crying attacks. I sleep well at night because I’m not kept awake by worrying. A bonus is that it also improves my PMS symptoms. I started it after a delayed PPA diagnosis. I’ve always been anxious, but PPA and hormones on top of everything else was just more than I could cope with in my day to day. I don’t have any experience with rescue meds, so no help there.

I second this. I knew my anxiety and panic wasn't normal so it was relatively easy to find the right dose because of that insight. You also have good insight in that you know this isn't sustainable which is helpful for figuring out a treatment plan if you decide to go meds. Zoloft just takes me from edging panic all the time to "ok, anxiety is hard and these things are stressing me out, but I can do x,y,z right now." I also use cannabis (rec not med) to relax and sleep and there have been no negative interactions. I've tried rescue meds but they aren't my favorite, personally. But some people they are night and day helpers.

willow, my anxiety had been slowly ramping up for years and I decided it was time to try something in early 2020. Now who knows how well those meds work because ::gestures wildly::, BUT I feel certain it would be much worse without it. I was already seeing differences after being on meds for roughly a month. I think the combination of therapy + medication can be so, so impactful. And it does not have to be a forever thing. I took meds 10+ years ago after my second DD was born and weaned off after a year.

I binged the final season of Lucifer while working the last 2 days. Now I'm sad also they pick really good music through the entire series.

I don’t watch that big I always appreciate a show with an excellent score. It really adds something. I feel that way about The Umbrella Academy and Friday Night Lights. UA is just so fun about their music choices and perfect for the scenes, and then FNL just has the most emotionally stirring music thanks to Explosions in the Sky. Sorry just sort of got really rambly there lol.

They bake amazing things and there is no fighting/drama (ok, maybe at like a level 1 or 2 occasionally compared to the usual realty TV show at a 12), there is soothing music, and I love the artistic drawings before the baked goods are finished to help you envision it. It's worth watching! Definitely a feel good vibe. My girls are obsessed with watching it with me too. It's now a family affair. Low drama sounds nice. I'll have to check it out. My husband was entertaining me by keeping it on while waiting for a football game to start last Saturday. At first, he was laughing at the premise, but as it played, he actually started enjoying it.

It sounds like something DD would love to watch together. She loves watching shows together while having snuggle time, so this seems perfect. If you have HBO app, we also love the Pottery Throwdown, Glass blowing one and there is a jewelry making one too.

The show is cool, especially for tweens and just has the best soundtrack.
