Lol. I used to watch The Hills, Jersey Shore and Bravo shows with DH's roommate before DH and I moved in together. When I started watching F Boy Island, I made DH text him to start watching and then we made DH send texts back and forth about the show as we watched it. I felt 23 to 27ish again.

I just googled FuckBoy Island and see that Elan Gale is the creator. I have been so curious about him ever since reading more about the behind the scenes Bachelor stuff. I think we may have to start watching this too.

I can tell that today is going to be a rough day. I woke up with a headache. Work is insane between some kiddos behaviors, staff out, rooms having to quarantine, etc. (You couldn't pay me all the money in the world to be an admin right now.) My favorite aunt is on hospice and she lives about 2 hours away so I am not sure if I will get a chance to see her again. And honestly, I am so mad at the world that we are failing this group assignment. We are coming up on another holiday season. I want to take my kids to the pumpkin patch/local orchard, but it makes me nervous. I hate that DD2 (3) has never gotten to do this fun stuff and soon DD1 is going to be too old to want to do it with us.

This is very random, but last night I attended my sonβs middle school open house (8th grade). I believe some of you are teachers and I just want to say how amazing I think you all are. My gosh, the energy and passion! Also, 8th grade is Civics and I was excited to see that kids are spending the whole year on it, not just a unit - this might be new curriculum (in Ma) but they do a team project that involves them in community/local government. It just made me feel hopeful that maybe these kids will have a better understanding of the importance and why they should be informed.

My barely 8 yo lost her first molar last night. I was about to call the dentist until google told me that in fact kids do lose all of their molars at some point, albeit this is early (she's on the vvvv early teeth plan). DH and I have no memory of losing molars. Memory is such a weird thing.

My kid came home yesterday and said they read a story in class about refugees. It led to a good conversation in our house about refugees and what we think the United States should do and how difficult it is for a person to be in that situation. It was a cool opportunity to talk to him about this topic. Iβm going to send a note to his teacher thanking her for including that story in their curriculum.
On a good side note my kid very confidently said that Trump did not like refugees. MH had to stifle his laughter at how confident he was on that point without any prompting.

I have to say, I was very worried about middle school. But by and large, the environment is pretty non tolerating of bullying and very inclusive. Even in my super red area of Texas.

We did go to an orchard and while we skipped the giant indoor corn pit, they did all the other activities and it was nicely spread out. As far as outgrowing the orchard, my 13 year old DD was just as excited to go as the rest of us.

Speaking of the 6 year old, I just got an email notification that he had posted new work in Seesaw (which was our virtual learning app last year). I guess they're still using it in music class in-person because it's a recording of him singing a falling leaf song. It's cracking me up as he HATES singing in front of people. So it's a couple of words and then a deep, deep sigh. And then a few more words and another big sigh.

Got my flu shot yesterday! And worked 3 shifts in a row, which I rarely do anymore, so I was in bed by 10ish last night and I slept all morning and ignored parenting duties. Luckily DH got DS ready for school and took him. So Iβm just lazying on the couch trying to find the energy to go to the grocery store.

This is my favorite news story of 2021. So far.

Every 4 weeks I have a really shitty work week where I work 5/6 days in a row, 12 hour shifts. I am not functioning well by the end of my last shift. That week was last week for me. Plus I had a cold my husband and kid shared with me (3 negative Covid tests). On Sunday night after my last shift, I enjoyed a beer and 2 Benadryl and slept until 11:00 Monday morning. It was glorious. I work 11am-11pm for reference and usually make it to bed around 1am on work days.

Omg Iβm standing in line to pick DS up and I totally forgot today was picture day. I heard a dad ask his kid. Ooof. I try to get him to wear a button down or polo to look nice so we can send them to grandparents but apparently not this year. π€¦π»ββοΈπ€¦π»ββοΈπ€¦π»ββοΈ
