You all are looking a little better than our county, but overall, it’s similar. I’m still worried about the winter holidays, but for now we seem to be in a holding pattern. That said, DS had a stomach ache and threw up again tonight. It’s pretty clear that it’s an anxiety-related GI issue, but we’re going to have to take him to the pedi for a COVID test tomorrow to get cleared. Hopefully we can discuss more proactive ways to help control the GI stuff while we’re there. Hugs to him <3 Poor kiddo. He’s bouncing around the house this morning and he cried when I told him he needed to stay home from school because he looooooves his teacher. We’re following up with his pedi this morning, but I expect they’ll clear him to go back to school tomorrow. Stupid pandemic.

mrsweasley, your poor DD. And that sounds like so much on your plate. I hope she can find some relief and you both can rest. Sending hugs. ❤️

I am so glad a judge turned that over. What a slippery slope forcing hospitals to treat you how and with what you want

My oldest woke up with a fever this morning. She was complaining about a sore throat last night. Binax was negative, but still can't send her to school with a fever. Soonest I can get an appt. is tomorrow morning. Now my youngest says her throat hurts, no fever. They made it through one full week of school, no mask mandate, but my girls both wear them (oldest is vaxed). Even if it isn't COVID it sucks that they get sick so fast. I hate this all so much. FX the sore throats are just from allergies, poor sleep, or talking too much the day before! This really is a sucky time to be alive

DD1 still has a lingering cough so they sent my kids home to get tested. DD2 has now missed more school than she's made. The place where we get them tested (antigen) wouldn't even let us wait for the results and give them to us. They officially couldn't give me the results, so I have to wait until after noon. But I am calling right at noon and taking my kids back to school if they let me. We know it's not covid. We already have multiple negative tests (both anitgen and PCR) for both kids. And DD2 went to the doctor, who said it was just a cold.
I understand the caution and protocols, it's just really frustrating. DD2 is in Kindergarten and is missing basically all of their alphabet Bootcamp days (they learn one letter a day for the first month). She's going to be so far behind.
Sorry for the rant.

athn64, rant away! I would be livid. Our school updated some protocols this morning under the radar and it's a lot of this. And because these kids weren't exposed to covid, but missing a week of school for a stuffy nose, there is no at home learning support. They will only make the virtual live stream available if you are on official quarantine for covid or close contact exposure. With multiple negative tests and a doctor note, you have to wonder if these are actually effective protocols.

She was finally back to school and now she's home again.

Who's handling the pandemic better? "Clarion County’s coronavirus statistics are worse per capita than Alexandria’s by nearly every measure. The county has a higher rate of overall cases, and its per capita death rate is nearly three times that of Alexandria’s. In the past week, Clarion County averaged about nine new cases a day, which comes out to about 23 cases per 100,000 people. Alexandria was averaging about 15 new cases per 100,000 people a day over the past week."

And of course, despite the fact that the fucking testing center said they'd have the results to the school before noon, they do not. So I have to keep them home longer. I'm so fucking annoyed. It's not even like they have new symptoms. It's the same fucking symptoms they've already been tested for. More than once.

We've now tested 3 times in the past 4 days because of allergies. Now our school doesn't GAF about Covid so there are no protocols but that makes it crappy, too. All I know is I cannot play allergies vs. plague every day for the rest of my life. This is all so exhausting. I'm so sorry. A doctor signing off should be good enough for return to school.

But because they couldn't give me the results when they got tested and they haven't sent them to the school, my kids are missing again. I don't understand why the fuck they couldn't just give me the results. It makes no sense. I am their legal guardian. I am in charge of their medical care. I have a right to get the information. I'm so frustrated, I'm in tears. And I've recently picked up more work contracts because my kids are supposed to be in school. How am I supposed to get my work done if I have kids home ALL THE TIME with absolutely no school work for them to do. Like, I understand they are being proactive, but this is not a new infection. They have had no known exposure. Their previous tests should be fine.

Another ivermectin court case, this in Texas - while it was being argued, the gentleman died. Now, I'm thinking he would have passed anyway. And, I have some sympathy for the desperate loved ones who believe ivermectin is worth a shot, although all medical authority states otherwise, in some of these cases. I feel they've been fooled and misled, but their pain is no doubt real. But, I just know this is going to turn into the patient being a martyr for the pseudo-science cause with legitimate healthcare professionals being villainized for actually doing the right thing. abc7chicago.com/ivermectin-covid-peter-lopez-death/11004989/

I am sorry for busting in here; not sure if I should ask here or in the thread on GD, but I think cmb and cnf are likely to be in here? The NYS DOH guidance reads to me like all students over the age of 2 are required to wear masks (exceptions apply, yadda yadda) in non-stand-alone facilities. Is this correct or do I misunderstand? I wrote to the director of the preschool program asking for updated guidance and she was basically like, “We have taken guidance from DOH and OCFS and are in compliance with encouraging but not mandating for children under 5.” …Am I having a moment? Eta English, lol

I know I don't post much but I just have to vent. I'm in KY and numbers here are the worst they've ever been. Our governor tried to impose a school mask mandate, which he then had to rescind because our completely fucking stupid GOP led legislature passed bills during our last general assembly that forbid him from doing it. So the state Dept. of Ed passed a mandate, which our districts have had to follow. There is currently a special session of the General Assembly happening where they are planning on repealing the mask mandate in place by the Dept. of Ed to "leave it up to the districts". Our district has been very clear that they consider optional masks to be the best plan. So probably by the end of the week, my kids' school won't have a mask mandate in place any longer. I don't really have any option but to send them to school. FUCK I'm so mad right now. And I know so many here are in the same boat with no mask mandate in place. It just sucks feeling so helpless to protect our kids.

If you think the district may listen to actual data, google ‘South Carolina school district covid dashboard’ and you will be able to pull real time data about what schools without masks in the time of Delta really look like. Richland 2, I believe, flouted the anti mask ban and require them. Their numbers against non- mask schools are a gut check (including in the same county, eliminating the disease activity isn’t equal everywhere argument). Anyway I was just stopping in to say South Carolina is now #1 in the country and there’s no sign the current surge is slowing. 🤦🏻♀️.

I'm so sorry LoisLoan. The absurdity of not requiring masks is mind boggling and infuriating, especially with so many places that have had to close already

They are also required to be tested if a state mandate for schools to do testing comes down again. There is no exception to this for * preschools on school grounds that house other grade levels * This does not apply to stand alone daycares that offer pre-k only. It *does* apply to daycares that offer kindergarten. We spent the majority of last year answering this question over and over when cuomo did zones 😅
