DD1 (3rd grade) was asking me if it was coronavirus when she was with her 1st grade teacher. I said yes, that's when it all started. She said, but I was in 1st grade!!! I know kiddo. I can't believe we are still in this too.

CDC says unvaccinated people shouldn't travel for Labor Day. Which is good because my in laws will stop with the asking.

I couldn’t take it on top of the simmering school pandemic anxiety. We have big plans to hike, visit the zoo, and have backyard bonfires all weekend. 🙂

I’m worried about people traveling for Labor Day here and bringing the covid back to school. But I can only control myself so…here I am in the world’s worst group project.

sounds great, Minerva! i'm not sure what we'll get into yet, but M is out of school Mon-Wed for Labor Day plus Rosh Hashanah. So we get some extra days of fun close to home.

I’m sorry. and this is after I found last night that our superintendent (who I’ve loved since he came 2 years ago) told our pto head that he thinks that it’s bullshit that we have to have masks on the kids again. This is as our county is the third highest positivity rate in the entire state. ETA: my town that has 800 residents total sits at 28% vaccinated so that’s how it’s going here

We are heading to my ILs place in SC this weekend. But it'll be hanging out the house, going to the beach, and take out. Far less risk than our kids being in school. Ugh typing that sucked.

It's the last big tourist weekend here so I'm dreading what they all bring with them and spread around.

It sounds a lot like the nasty cold that got our family this summer. Mild fever, congestion, sore throat, and cough. It took a few weeks to completely get over the cough, which sucked.

I get a bad cough every year when the weather changes and it lasts a month or more usually.

Generally that's a good thing here, as they notify the positive ones asap and notify the negative ones when they get around to it, but I don't know how it works in the States.

This is how I feel about our Fair. It ends on Labor Day. I'd say 90-95% of public schools in the TC metro area start right after labor day due to the Fair. My district is approx 4-5 miles from the Fairgrounds. I'm very nervous for how it will affect numbers going into the first week of school.

Even though we’re in the virtual academy I still get all the school notifications. This morning they announced they’re adding temp checks and symptom screening at drop off, and everyone has to wear masks outside and inside (previously was just inside). The dashboard numbers haven’t been updated but I can only assume there’s been a spike in cases. And reading between the lines, parents are sending their kids to school with symptoms. 🤦🏼♀️

I wish we’d planned a safe getaway for the long weekend but it’s too hard to predict where the smoke will move day to day so I didn’t want to book anything. Maybe we can do a campout in the backyard or living room depending on the weather. Movie night… game night. Hmm.

Remember when we thought the monthly threads would stop after vaccinations? *sobs* Someday we won't need this thread...right? Like, maybe by Christmas 2022?

I never travel on labor day anyway because I don't like people and there are so many of them 😂 We usually see friends who have their anniversary close to ours, so hoping we can do that again this weekend. We go to a local small fair usually. They already announced no rides this year because of staffing. But don’t worry they are bringing in bounce houses. The boys have already been warned if we go to just walk to a few tents we frequent there will be no bounce houses.

We’re going away for the weekend but to the mountains, away from other people. Once last fun few days before all of my kids are in full day school.

Someone posted that Maderna fake vaccine card story on the August thread. I can think of no job that would be more satisfying right now than being the investigating agents in Hawaii who get to look into the fake vaccine cards. It would bring me so much joy.
