I’m getting my booster on Saturday. I was going to get my flu shot and the booster at the same time but I got a little scared off of that. I might get my flu shot Friday morning so I have a good 24 hours before hitting the immune system with some Pfizer. I am getting mine on Saturday too. I know my job isn't considered "high risk" the same as HCWs but I'm in the office 4 days a week now and have an unvaccinated coworker in my office suite so I honestly DGAF. We have enough shots to go around and I just was told last night by my dance teacher that her 37 yo cousin died a few days ago and he was fully vaxxed. It solidified that I'm going to do all I can to protect myself at this point.

All I know is I got mine 8 months ago and I have a little unvaccinated person in my home to protect and that’s my job. If I felt like I was taking a shot from someone more deserving, I would wait. But I have no shame in getting mine.

I'm in retail and planning to get the booster. The vax rate around here is just around 43%. I'm only 5 months out from my second shot, though, and since I got Moderna the first time I am hoping they come out with that smaller (less likely to cause side effects) booster before my 8 months are up.

He WFH permanently but has shitty lungs from his asthma and he's in the "high risk" BMI category so I worry about him. It makes me feel better to know we will be adding even more protection.

mathrun, I'm so sorry. willow, jaygee, I'm getting my booster Saturday morning too. My risk factors are basically just weight. Between work travel resuming, a child too young to vaccinated, and trying to survive life in Texas, I want all the protection I can get. Dose #2 knocked me on my butt for the better part of the weekend so I'm expecting this will be similar. Totally worth it.

My work said reports of side effects have been generally lower with the 3rd shot. But I still plan on taking it easy after just in case. I scheduled mine so that I should be asleep when side effects hit (if they do).

I've been debating a booster and y'all maybe convinced me I can/ should. My second dose was 3/11, so it's been six months. And I initially qualified in tier 1a as a "HCW", because I'm primary caregiver for my disabled child.

I’m high risk because overweight and asthma, but I also want to make sure that we cocoon DD as much as possible until she can get vaccinated. DNW to mess with the possibility of COVID pneumonia with her heart defect.

I don't know what to do about the booster since I got Moderna. I'm just at 8 months (is it 8 months from the 2nd shot or 2 weeks after it?). Higher risk due to weight and being a healthcare worker. But from what I've heard they don't think we need it yet since the dose was higher? So do I wait for the Moderna booster to be approved? I feel like we haven't really heard much about a timeline for that. Can I even get a Moderna booster since it's not approved yet?

FWIW, I was Tier 2 in my state, my internist urged me to get vaccinated as soon as possible in those dark days where shots were hard to find, and have a couple of health related issues that would land me in the hospital with a bad case of COVID. I got Moderna thanks to a pharmacist being kind and giving me a 'left over'. Anyway, my internist two weeks ago told me to hang tight for the Moderna booster approval. I'm not 'sick' enough in his estimation to get the third shot suggested for the highly immunocompromised. He think we'll hear in just a few weeks about Moderna booster approval, and also, in his experience and opinion, Moderna seems to be offering more protection against serious illness/hospitalization for those vaccinated to get a break-through case. And it could be related because the dose was higher than Pfizer's. I believe the Moderna booster will be half the dose of the initial shots. I'd talk to my own provider and see what they say.

My grandparents and 99 yo great Gma all got moderna, so I would really like it if they can get a booster soon. I’m frankly hoping they can get boosted and DD can get at least her first shot by the end of Oct when we are celebrating the 100 year old bday! I just secured binax tests this morning (in stock to ship via cvs) to test ourselves before the masked family get together.

FYI Amazon has Binax now in stock and prime eligible Thank you! And cheaper than what I bought via cvs this morning. I ordered several boxes to ship straight to my mom’s for my grandma’s birthday. Some reviews say they came opened, so I’ll just have her check the boxes when they arrive. Now I’m debating canceling my cvs order to save the difference.

So I'm not sure what CVS would be doing. Because iirc he specifically mentioned them along with amazon, and kroger

I’m kind of pissed that cvs and Walgreens still ahow the pricing at $24. I know Walmart was called out in his EO speech and they at least show it at $14, just unavailable.

When I scheduled my appointment through my work it allowed Pfizer or Moderna but not J&J (and it had a note about J&J that I didn’t fully read since it didn’t apply to me). What I don’t know is what shot you get if you say you got Moderna first and second. I’ll try to remember to ask when I go this weekend.

Ugh. I’m scheduled to get my booster tomorrow. I have a wicked cold, tested negative for Covid, but feel like I got hit by a truck. No fever, or cough. “Just” runny and stuffy nose, post nasal drip, exhaustion, and sore throat. Should I get the booster? Or wait?
Dh got his booster yesterday and he said he just feels crummy and wiped out and is leaving work early to go home and rest. I assume by tomorrow hell feel better but also what if he doesn’t? Should I push my booster out?

addymac obviously you know more about medical stuff than me but I’d think it would be better to push the booster back and let your body recover a bit first. I hope you feel better soon.

I also got Moderna and am due for my booster in a couple weeks. As of right now I plan to wait until they give some guidance on that, mainly because of the things I’ve seen about it potentially being a smaller dose.
My H got Pfizer and will be getting his booster soon once he hits his six months. The kids and myself are still pretty locked down until they get vaccinated, so right now our biggest risk factor would be my H catching it at work and bringing it home. Nobody at his job takes any Covid precautions so I’ll feel a sigh of relief knowing he has that extra protection.

It was up there with the worst I have ever felt, tbh. Only other times i remember being worse was a coronavirus in college and the flu in high school
