Hello yesterday me. We are all home with what I'm hoping is a bad cold. Kids are doing better than yesterday and waiting on test results. DD's teacher was on it with at-home assignments. I was impressed. It's annoying because I know what it is. We get a seasonal bronchitis as an allergic reaction when the weather starts to get colder. But I'm still being careful about everything because what if I'm wrong? Thank you for being so cautious. Truly.

I was able to buy some Enro masks for the kids last night. Is there normally a waiting list, or is that just for certain patterns/sizes? I’m hoping the XXS fits DD (4yo). She has a small face and it’s been tricky to find filtered masks that don’t gape and come in pink. 😬 DS and I have mostly been wearing Gap 3 layer contoured masks (https://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=738502) with 2.5 um filters from Vida.com. I really like the Gap masks - they are sturdy with three layers of tight cotton weave and a nose piece and should be good protection on their own once the kids are vaccinated. The Vida filters are the most breathable 2.5um filters I’ve found and they fit perfectly in the Gap masks. You can reuse them up to 7 times, so we’ve been doing one a week. My 6 year old is about the size of a 4 year old and the xxs fit her face really well. The nose piece and ear adjusters helped. These are her new favorite mask.

Im an idiot. I scheduled a saliva test and have been drinking my tea. I totally forgot about the no eating or drinking for an hour but now it’s only half an hour. So I had to push my appt back half an hour. It’s fine. I’m just a moron. 🤦🏻♀️ Im 99% sure it’s not CV and I’m 70% sure it’s not strep, just allergies or a cold and post nasal drip irritation but blah. At least I could get a saliva test scheduled at work cuz the brain swab at my pcp I couldn’t get in until Saturday! The pollen is soooooo bad right now

The pollen is soooooo bad right now We went on an after dinner walk at a nearby nature trail last night. There was ragweed everywhere. You could practically see the pollen. Plus, the leaves and nuts are starting to fall, so there’s also a high mold count. I was sneezing and my eyes were tearing up like crazy by the time we got back to the car. Thankfully, a shower and some Flonase calmed everything back down, but the allergies are real right now!

It's funny because last year at this time, I know we had similar allergies but somehow it wasn't as nerve-wracking. The Delta variant has really messed with my symptom-checking. Now I just assume every sniffle could be Covid. I feel like we have done more tests in the last month than the previous 17 months of Covid.

My oldest has mild allergies and has always refused to take anything for them and I haven't felt it was worth the battle before. But now I can't deal with the constant sniffling because it's making me paranoid so I got her to at least take flonase. Otherwise we'd be having to get covid tested constantly.

I''m listening to a press conf on pediatric covid cases here.
The head of pediatrics for a major health system calls the way districts have handled masks, etc shameful.
These doctors are exhausted and angry.

I think they do waiting lists until 9 pm and then sell off what's left for the day. I have told myself literally 3-4 times to go check the site at 9 to see what's up and have forgotten every time. I'm going to set an alarm.

Because apparently I’m a mask hoarder now.

I’m broken. My 82 year old uncle has been fighting COVID and then pneumonia for the last month or so. They just put him in hospice.😭 I’m so mad. He is vaxxed. He stayed home and took this serious for over a year. Then in June they started seeing my cousin and her family again, and we think one of the grandkids must have been asymptotic and gave it to both my aunt and uncle. My Tru.mper mom is going off about something conspiracy theory related, and it’s taking all I have not to go at her about it. I know she’s scared and sad about her brother. So I’m trying to just ignore it.
Also work has been crap this week. I had to call out one of my boss’s peers for unacceptable behavior in a meeting with a bunch of their peers. It was nerve wracking, and my boss wasn’t even there to back me up.
Sorry for the vent. I just needed to put this somewhere. PDQ.

Oh goodness mathrun I am so very sorry about your uncle. How devastating. Especially since his risk was just seeing his beloved grandkids. How awful. Sending you some love.

I’m getting my booster on Saturday. I was going to get my flu shot and the booster at the same time but I got a little scared off of that. I might get my flu shot Friday morning so I have a good 24 hours before hitting the immune system with some Pfizer.
