My 5 year old has a fever and sore throat. Of course nothing is open on a Sunday night. I managed to get an appointment with her pediatrician tomorrow morning so hopefully they can/will test her. Ugh.
I'm so mad. We are one of only a handful of families that take covid seriously around here.

And she just threw up. Do kids throw up with strep? I'm thinking this isn't a good sign.

geekygirly that is so devastating. Locally, we had a few parents request communications, during the summer, between our state’s Department of Ed and all of the state’s school district superintendents. There was some information in there regarding lawsuits and being sued if the schools hadn’t followed the CDC guidelines. All that to say, maybe that is another place to start to make waves as well.

Oh no! clucky that is who I used for my rapid test a couple weeks ago and I was so happy was so efficient. I mean my results came timely so I am glad, but I won’t be recommending them anymore. I’ll stick to doing the state run spit tests for quick turn around I guess.

Well DD2 hasn't had a fever since yesterday evening, and she only had the fever for maybe 4 hours. She says her throat still hurts a little. We see the doctor in 2 hours.

clucky and willow , I wonder if I'll get a surprise bill from our GS Labs covid test. From what I understand from the article, insurance by law has to pay it but some insurances are refusing because of the high pricing. I would assume our employer insurance would cover it -- I saw on the vaccine hunters page that other people with the same provider that our employer goes through had it covered no problem. I did see that BCBS had some issues. My insurance is through my H with his county but same company as ours is through. I'll let you know if we get a bill. tagging richard tmg beaf12 so they also know not to go there. Sorry that I recommended it in the first place!

My kiddos were troopers getting their flu vaccines on Saturday. I’m breathing a little easier knowing that they have some protection from seasonal shit, but the children’s COVID vaccine can’t come soon enough.

willow I would have mentioned it sooner, but I didn’t realize they spread so far. Our state DHS refuses to list them, but they are one of the only ones doing rapids on Sunday. fatpony it was mentioned in the article that they weren’t following up on patient paid that had gone through insurance. A few local said they got bills they are not paying. Disclaimer is that I don’t know if that was a bill from gbs or the insurance “you may owe this” notice. Lawmakers need to get a hold on this by the time the OSHA’s vax or testing standard takes effect.

We're actually off to the MSP testing site this morning as both kids are home with coughs, runny noses and very slight temps. We even have the PCR mail-in kits at home but I'm hoping the turnaround time will be faster in-person like it has been for us in the past.

MH and I are debating calling the pediatrician vs going to cvs for K. We're getting ours (the grown ups) at cvs.

I’m hoping we will get some news about the kids vaccine soon, so I wanted them to have a couple of weeks between the two. 🤞

I thought N would be nervous so I planned to have H and I go first to show him it's no big deal. I underestimated the power of a 3yo's "Me First" phase. Kiddo went first and took it like a champ. (Paw Patrol on mommy's phone helped too lol) ETA: This was at our pediatrician. They will do shots for the whole family.

I'm really curious by the blood test they did on my daughter to test to see if she had antibodies, I'm not very suspicious they did that to pad their pockets and I'm about to get screwed.

It was in and out in less than 5 minutes for the two of them, which was ideal. Then we hit up DQ for ice cream cones. I’m planning to get mine at Target for the $5 back. I would happily do the same with the kids next year and let them use the $ on a toy, but E wasn’t quite ready this year. She was very nervous going in.

We got our flu shots on Saturday at a drive thru offered by the health system. Nice and fast. We have done that the last 5 years.
I am excited for the possibility of my kiddo getting the Covid vaccine in a month.
I am also just overwhelmed with worry that nothing will change. I am feeling like Eeyore today, likely just my burnout talking.
