MH and I have actually been weighing asking our pediatrician about an off label Rx for DS1 to get the vaccine now that it's FDA approved. He's roughly the size of Joni Ernst, and he has illness induced asthma, so I kind of feel like it's worth just asking.
We absolutely would not try to pressure our care providers and if his doctor said it wasn't a good idea we wouldn't fight them at all. And I wasn't even considering trying it until I heard Dr Gottlieb mention it on FTN on Sunday...
Idk. We're discussing it. I realize an mRNA vaccine isn't the same as an epipen so it's not as simple as, "Well he gets an adult dose of everything else"

I'm so frustrated. My crazy anti-vax aunt just tested positive for covid. Which honestly at this point, whatever. But she was sick all last week and had my 84 year old grandma still come stay with her. Thankfully my grandma is vaccinated but I'm still really worried. I'm so pissed at my aunt.

I did not know so many commonly used drugs would fall under the same objection some might have to the COVID vaccines - the vaccines the Pope has no problem with.

I got a text at 6:30 this morning that my kids' grandfather (XFIL) passed. He has been suffering from cancer for a while. We had a falling out when I stopped letting my ex see the kids (he, my ex, physically attacked me), but he reached out 2.5 years ago and we eventually made amends. He had been diagnosed with liver cancer and didn't know how long he had. We had lots of talks and made peace and the kids appreciated having another grandparent in their life. When covid hit, we had to stop the visits. He was high risk, so we hadn't seen him since right before covid hit here. He called a few weeks ago and he had gotten bad news at the doctor and asked when I could bring the kids to him. We went that weekend. He wanted to see the kids before he started the morphine. That was about 6 weeks ago. I have to tell me kids tonight and they're going to be devastated. My oldest said he feels like that grandfather is the last link to that side of his family. He has no desire to ever speak to his bio dad again and I'm honestly afraid this is going to cause my ex to reach out and try to make amends. There's just no way that can ever happen. It's been a lot of peaceful years without him in our lives.

One of my best friends is an OBGYN and when the 5-11s are approved here, they're going to order as much Pfizer as they can, close their practice for a day and have a Children's Vaccine Day to vaccinate all their own kids, all their kids' friends, anyone who hears about it and comes in, any families walking by on the street, etc. I'm pumped because I'm sure we'll get in with her if there is a wait at our pedi's office.

I was in the US when Pfizer got full approval, and one thing I heard highlighted was a document that specifically states that doctors should *not* do off-label use, and if they do then they risk losing their approval to get reimbursed for it (or something to that effect). I remember thinking it sounded like it would be a pretty big liability risk for drs to do it. No harm in asking, but I'd definitely anticipate a no.

Just saw a breaking news bulletin that all NY daycares are now required to require masks. I’m sure DS2 will love that (he’s the only one over 2 at daycare).
